   I arrived at Julius on time for our reservation. When I got to the door, I was told there was a private party, and they were closed until 7:30. I said I had a reservation, and the doorman had no knowledge or interest in seeing my confirmation. I love the place and glad they had a private party that would bring them in money, but at least notify their reservation holders that they won't be able to honor the reservation.

   The server Chad was one of the most attentive servers I’ve ever come across. And he shared the lovely history of the bar which gave us chills. The burger was fantastic. Good, chill music. Not super loud. Very affordable.

    It is my favorite gay bar. They have handled things quite well during this time. The reservation system works really well. No wait when you get the and they are on top of following up on your reservation and great if the person who made the reservation is running late (Public transportation delays) and letting the other party members sit if you call them and let them know. Their regular staff is always great and the newer servers are great.

    LOVE ❤️ JULIUS’! This place is an iconic institution and we’ve tried to support throughout the pandemic with their outdoor tables which is amazing on a wkend afternoon with our dogs enjoying cheeseburgers and margaritas. The staff is always lovely & friendly. Can’t be beat!

    What a disappointing Pride dinner. The first surprise came when each guest at our table had to pay $15 just to sit at the table — which did not go toward the bill! They also were out of fries and onion rings — the only side option for burgers was macaroni salad or coleslaw. Some of us ordered coleslaw and we all were given macaroni salad anyway. The outdoor seating had zero ambiance; there wasn’t any decor/music, and our table was so far away from the entrance (and other tables) that I felt like we were sitting at a randomly placed table on the sidewalk. I do have to give it to our server & the burgers though, which were both good!

    Everything at Julius is a classic: the bartenders who care about their customers, the cheeseburgers cooked in accordance with the best gay protocols and the walls covered with photos from a closeted (it’s a sin) past. Julius must remain in New York forever.

    Julius never disappoints! Even during these strained times, whenever I go there, I immediately feel a sense of queer community and camaraderie from the staff, the other patrons, and even the people passing by on the street. Julius has handled the pandemic so perfectly. It was raining unexpectedly on the day I visited recently, but they had set up little cabana tents for the outdoor seats I had reserved. It was cozy, ventilated/safe, and dry!

    Julius has always been, and continues to be, my favorite gay bar in the neighborhood. The bartenders are kind, personable, and fun. Danny took terrific care of us during our visit, and it was so nice to be able to sit at the bar again. Tunes were on point ("It sounds like summer in here!" "That's the vibe we're trying to set!")     I absolutely love Julius’ burgers, but this time it was meh. Bun barely warmed, cheese not melted. Waiter did not tell my newbie friend that you must specifically request toppings or you’ll get a plain piece of chicken on a bun.
