Well not much to say, everything was great .
I have been a few times to Juniper's. It is in my neighbourhood and I bring visiting friends there as I can count on the consistency of great food, atmosphere and always friendly knowledgeable service. I am vegetarian and there always great options. I love supporting businesses in the 'hood and they deserve it. I have never been disappointed and have always left very satisfied on all levels.
They have recently changed their menu and it is a fantastic upgrade!
We started off with the gratin with the cashew sauce - delicious.
We also ordered several twisted takes on gin and tonics. These are refreshing.
Our dinner was rounded out with the bison and gnocchi. Both are excellent.
Great atmosphere and friendly service. Really enjoyed the food and drinks!
Juniper always has great drinks and amazing ambiance
Love the atmosphere, superb staff, great drinks, definitely will return!
We were a group of Nordic collegues dining Together after a conference - Juniper was perfect for that - the food and service were top.
Food was nice, cocktails without ice were great (ones with ice had way too much to justify the price).
I don't think our server was really feeling his job that much, he was attentive but didn't seem to know much about the food being served. His demeanor made the women in our party feel pretty uncomfortable.
Good food! Portions on the the small side but it's meant to be shared. The happy hour cocktail is well balanced and not sweet.
We had a wonderful meal at Juniper. Started with 2 gin cocktails and the fabulous olives.
Then ordered 3 dishes to share with wine and followed by a great dessert. Highly recommend! We will be back!!
Food was overly saucy and very uninspired. Nothing special. But nice atmosphere and good cocktails.
Not the place to celebrate an anniversary. The food was very good. Made a res. for dinner but we were sat in the bar area. Was not aware of the dinning area upstairs. We were never given the happy hour menu to look at, and rushed through. I would go back for the cocktail perhaps.
Awesome food! West coast style food with a flare, the atmosphere is nice and the drinks are great! (Try the Juniper Gin & Tonic) decently healthy choices, fresh ingredients, and great presentation! Wish the serving sizes were slightly bigger, but other than that can’t complain.
We really enjoyed the tapas style menu!everyone got to taste a variety of different foods and flavours. This place has amazing cocktails specializing in gin based drinks. The gin old fashioned was awesome!
Great experience! We will definitely be back!
Another renaissance in the heart of Chinatown,
Aesthetically pleasing ambiance , modern and authentic interior design, lovely people, and great handcrafted cocktail menu. Perfect for after work drink, occasional dining, happy hour and Sundays after dark and you will fall for the finefolks on the other side of the bar. ♡
Great service & amazing food, we’ll definitely be back
The food looked beautiful yet we didn't feel like we got what we paid for. I've been to the restaurant during dine out Vancouver as well as after and we all felt the same thing--the food was good but not worth the price.
Wonderful service from start to finish. Creative, fresh, delicious food that is plated beautifully and prime for sharing. Order everything at once and ask your server to fire the courses how they see fit, and you will experience a very well paced meal. One of the best restaurant meals I have ever had!
I've been to Juniper many times prior to this last visit and have always been impressed. However, going for Dine Out Vancouver I was very disappointed. Overpriced, mediocre food and disinterested server. My friend became quite sick afterwards as well.
Food at Juniper was sub-par.....and the service we received was dismal. I understand that it is a dineout event, however the service was quite terrible and the food was quite salty.
The food was very ordinary. There was nothing special about any of the courses. I will not go there again and I would not recommend it to anybody.
Great Gin cocktails - and tasty menu on top of that! We didn't realize that it was the first few nights of dine-out, which made our food choices limited, but the short-rib was beyond delicious. They were also able to accommodate an extra 2 guests to our reservation of 4 on short notice that was greatly appreciated.
Went for dine out Vancouver. The ambience and drinks are great, food was okay (fish was over cooked and pot de creme was very firm).
Would return, but for drinks only.
Checked out Juniper with a girlfriend last Friday. We were impressed with the cocktail menu and were very happy with our choices. I had a grapefruit mule - loved the citrus and ginger flavours. The Brussels sprouts dish was really tasty, as was the gnocchi with mushrooms, but the best part may have been the lavender creme brulee served in a flat dish so lots of surface area, if you know what I mean! The service was great and I loved the decor. Will be back!
Ordered the duck and if was delicious. My friends ordered the tuna and it was super fishy and the bison was not good at all.
Cocktails were amazing and I loved the ambiance. I would recommend this place for after dinner drinks and appies
Great and attentive service, fabulous food with a variety of veg amd otherwise options which was important tonight us. Our waitress was awesome and Michael, was fabulous. I disagree with any negative reviews on this site. We had a wonderful time and have no qualms about recommending Juniper to our friends and colleagues. Thank you for such a wonderful evening!
Unfortunately our dining experience at Juniper was mediocre, at best.
Drinks were EXCELLENT. I stuck to the same all night as it was delicious, and my husband ordered three different cocktails, each were delicious. The room is very modern and sexy & well situated. We were greeted immediately when we walked in and taken to a nice corner table.
The not so good:
We ordered three dishes to share, as the menu states the food is intended to share - great, our fave way to eat! The mixed meat/cheese board, the gnocchi, and the duck. The board came first after about 5min. Nicely presented, and a good portion size for a starter. We cheers'd, and started digging in. We were barely a bite into the board, when the gnocchi showed up - huh? I looked at my husband confused that 1) gnocchi could be cooked so quickly and 2) that they brought it so quickly even if it could be cooked that fast. About a min later, the duck showed up, and suddenly we had an awkwardly full table, and felt rushed to rearrange our eating so the hot food wouldn't get cold. Ok... we're pretty relaxed so we pushed our board aside and thought "we'll be very European and have it for dessert :p" Besides, when food is amazing, you can get over it. We dug into the food, and it was very boring. The predominant flavour was salt, and there was nothing exciting about the textures or presentation (ie. for food intended to be shared, it sure looked alot like two individual main dishes). Three cocktails in, we ordered the meatballs, which fell in line with the bland experience we had with the rest of the meal.
Service was also very ok. Not rude, but somewhere between disinterested (bringing our food so quickly) and inattentive (I had to ask for a new side plate to go back to our board after we finished the hot food). When we looked around, we noticed other service faux pas such as guests getting their food before their drinks. When a server understands the flow of a beautiful meal, they can prevent this.
Hidden gem in Chinatown, loved it! The drinks were great, and I recommend the meatballs and brussels - yum.
The food is nothing compared to restaurants like Burdock and Co or AnnaLena.
The service was exceptional and the restaurant had great atmosphere. Highly recommended!
My husband and I were looking for a nice place for dinner on a Saturday night. Good food, great service. Will be back.
A very pleasant surprise, the food was well presented, creative and tasty. We had beets and ricotta, patatas, gnocchi!! and bison. All fabulous, we will return soon. A well run kitchen doing a great job. Server could maybe warm up a bit, read the customer? Not bad service, just disinterested.
Creative drinks but not my style. Too herbal and too over powering. Amazing good though!!
the grill beat salad, the beats werent actually grilled. and i think the fennel in the duck main should have been cooked some way as well. the meat was good tho.
Great sharing menu, not overwhelming. And wonderful selection of Gin cocktails!
Took my clients from LA here, they had already heard good things about Juniper and we were not disappointed! They had delicious cocktails, a fantastic wine/beer and cider list and the server gave us a couple great appy recommendations which we devoured. Loved the "fries"!
The entrees were AMAZING! Very delicious, beautifully plated food. Nobody had a complaint. The restaurant itself is very chic and I loved the decor.
Great place to bring out of town clients as we could still have a conversation without yelling, and it was good for accommodating different dietary needs.
The restaurant was very accommodating to different diets (vegetarian, gluten-free) and the server made some good suggestions to help navigate through the menu. The food was very tasty and good portions.
Beautiful restaurant with an interesting menu! I've been before and would come again.
Our waitress seemed to hate us. We ordered one round, some food, and decided to go somewhere else. Asked her for drink suggestions - her go to answer was "what do you like to drink?" ....I guess we wanted to try something new but she wasn't a patient or helpful server. She was a little grumpy :(
