   My wife and I had a wonderful dinner. Dillon and the wait staff provided great service. The entire Kai team was knowledgeable, detailed, and friendly. Kevin Shirley, the manager, was exceptionally welcoming; great seeing you again and thank you! It’s a one of a kind restaurant and experience in Arizona.

   This was my first time at Kai. At first, I was in the border if we should add the wine pair, or just enjoy the food alone. I’m glad we decided to add the parings. If you don’t mind drinking, i would highly suggest upgrading to the beverage pairings. I could not imagine enjoying this food with out the brilliant work of the somm to enhance the food flavors. It’s just incredible. The views, the service, the food, the beverage and the facility could not have been more impressive. If you can swing it, I would definitely suggest it. Thank you to the entire staff at Kai for making this one evening we will not forget.

    I WOULD HAVE RATED KAI 5 STARTS IF....THE DINING ROOM WERE AT A COMFORTABLE TEMPERATURE. OUR HUSBANDS HAD ON SPORT COATS AND WERE COLD. THE LADIES WERE GIVEN BLANKETS AND WE WERE STILL COLD. THE TOTAL EFFECT WAS THAT IT RUINED WHAT WHAT HAVE BEEN A WONDERFUL DINING EXPERIENCE. OUR WAITER WAS WONDERFUL AND DID THE BEST THAT HE COULD TO MAKE US MORE CONFORTABLE.

    I have dined at Kai several times over the years and have always had a superior experience which more than made up for the lack of elegance in decor. I hadn’t been since pre-Covid. As a returning customer, I must say my experience was subpar at best. The food itself was amazing as always but the experience was disappointing. There were 3 of us dining, one for the first time. We were seated promptly at 7pm (reservation time). We didn’t receive the attentiveness we had so raved about to our first-time guest. It was just “ok”, when normally it’s exceptional. We watched some tables move faster than others. To give perspective, we were by far not the last to be seated but somehow ended up being the last table standing. We walked out at 10:45pm. Needless to say I will not be returning any time soon nor will I refer anyone moving forward. Hoping it was an off night and not the new normal. Sad to see one of my favs decline.

    We have been to Kai many times over the last 5 years, and after each visit I have immediately looked forward to the next time when we get to return. However, unfortunately this time it wasn't the same. The entire evening didn't feel quite up to the perfect 5-star experience that we've grown accustomed to. The service, while outstanding and still head and shoulders above almost every other restaurant in the state, was a notch or two below what it usually is. And the food, while delicious and interesting, wasn't quite the exceptionally unique culinary experience that we've had in the past. It was also more crowded and louder than it has ever been. In years past we've almost felt like we had the entire restaurant to ourselves, but this time it felt too crowded. This affected both the ambiance (noise) and the level of attentiveness from the service staff. And the room temperature was way too cold, it couldn't have been more than 65° in there and we were freezing! The table next to us commented on it to their server and they were offered some blankets. In reading through recent reviews I noticed some comme from over the summer that complained about the same thing, so it's definitely not just because it is winter time. The bottom line is this. In the past when we spent $500-600 for a meal for 2 at Kai we were more than satisfied, in fact sometimes I even felt that was a bargain for the level of service and quality of food that we received! But this year I felt underwhelmed, somewhat disappointed, and it felt overpriced for what we got. When I mentioned this to my server, which I tried to do in the most polite way possible (and I felt comfortable doing so because he has served us every time we've gone there), he told me they just got a new menu and culinary staff a few months ago. Which totally explains everything. I really hope they're able to pull things together and get back to where they were before because I absolutely love(d) this place!

    Amazing service and ambience. My husband is very picky and they completely revamped dishes to ensure he enjoyed the entire meal excluding things he doesn’t it and adding things he does. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Zero complaints and very high praise. This restaurant is well deserving of its hype.

    One of the most genuine, unique, and wonderful dining experiences we’ve ever had. Jeremy was our main server and he was so fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable and kind, and made us feel very welcomed. All the other supporting staff was extremely attentive, efficient, and wonderful as well. The food was delightful and the atmosphere was incomparable. Overall it was a wonderful dining experience and I look forward to coming back.

    Amazing food. Best food and service we may have ever had. Very intimate and loved the attention to detail. Servers were very attentive and knowledgeable. Only thing is this is definitely a dining experience with a good amount of pause in between courses, probably more noticeable since we don’t drink. Which was fine and can appreciate no one was in a rush, but next time we will book an earlier reservation had we known.

    I’m a fine dining snob and Kai impressed me. Food: on par with other fine dining in the US (probably best in Arizona - we’ve tried most of $$$$ places). The flavor combinations are fresh and interesting, not over seasoned (which was a problem in most Phoenix restaurants for me). Ambiance: intimate, only a few tables. Service: BEST absolutely BEST comprehensive service I’ve ever experienced in the US fine dining. Don’t want to ruin the surprise but it really impressed me. I’m going back at least once a quarter.

    A high-end prix fixe restaurant with outstanding ingredients carefully prepared. If anything, the native them constricts the talent in the kitchen. Some dishes were better unaccompanied by what at times seemed forced use of garnishes and side dishes whose flavors did not enhance the primary ingredient. The buffalo tenderloin was perfectly cooked, the quail was tender at every end, the foie gras was exquisite. The desserts also were excellent. The wine list is extensive and marked up about 2.25x from retail.

    A truly original and exceptional meal. The service is attentive, extremely knowledgeable, and thoughtful. Food is an outstanding blend of well prepared cuisine and the use of local ingredients with a particular nod to the native peoples in the area. The only reason this restaurant doesn’t get five stars in every category is that it is expensive but if you’re looking for a once in a lifetime dining experience or something truly memorable…Kai is a wonderful place.

    An exquisite tasting menu in a lovely setting (best appreciated before the sun sets). A pricey two-hour-15-minute meal, no question about it. For two people, without alcohol, it came to $440 with tip. I confess I was a little surprised when I got the bill and saw that when the chef appeared and sprinkled shaved truffles on our foie gras, we were charged an extra $20 for the privilege.
