First time visit was pleasant. Service was excellent and they were accommodating to my guest's request for vegan options. Request side patio if you want some privacy. Visiting from Vancouver.
Went for summerlicious and it was just ok, our server didn’t smile at all, the apps and dessert were great but the main was mediocre.
Had an amazing lunch here. The food portions were a little bit small but still very delicious! Would definitely come here again!
The overall price is quite high, but take consideration into its location, yorkville, I would say it’s okay. However, despite its overly charged price, (for example, the regular price for its so-called “signature” fried chicken is $22 for 4 pieces, which taste almost the same as The Fry.) its Summerlicious menu is not that satisfactory. The vegan choice outnumbers the protein ones. What’s more, the overall seasoning and sauce is way too heavy (heavier than other Japanese fusion place). And what’s most frustrating is it’s service. After I almost finished my main course, my friend is still waiting for hers. It turns out that the server forgot her dish.
The environment is pretty nice and chic.
But the overall dinning experience is far from satisfactory. I would not recommend Kasa Moto.
Mejorar el servicio
Such delicious food!!!
The sommelier was fabulous. The food was a disappointment.
My friends and I had dinner at Kasa Moto this week and were incredibly disappointed by our experience. When we arrived, we were seated at the back of the patio where it smelt like sewage. All the service staff agreed that they smelt it, and our server even let us know the source was from underneath us where they get flooding after rain (it had rained earlier that day). When we asked to move tables we were told nothing was available so we said we would make the best of it and have a few drinks but would like to be moved once a table opened up. We were never re-located.
Then we requested the summerlicious menu, and were told it wasn't available for the patio which we were disappointed about because that it what brought us to try Kasa Moto. We asked our server to check with the manager, and eventually were given the okay but only if all guests ordered from this menu. Again, we were disappointed because we were planning (for about 45 minutes) to order two summerlicious menus and a bunch of other options from the main menu to give this restaurant a real try! Once confirmed with the manager again, we were given the okay.
After all that back and fourth, the food wasn't worth any of the hype we had heard. This restaurant was over priced, did not provide clear information to start (ie; no summerlicious on the patio, and dinner service at lounge seating), servers did not lead any questions or conversation and seemed unprofessionally dressed and unorganized. We will not be returning.
service and atmosphere was great. But the actual sushies and sashimi was very soso at a really high cost.
If you are looking for a wonderful summertime setting to enjoy with friends and have drinks and nice snacks definitely go to Kasa Moto.
Food was fantastic and so was the service, however, I went during summerlicious and the food proportions were at least half the size as the times that I have visited before. If you’re going to join a food festival, please bring what you normally have to the table.
I had made a reservation for myself and my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday. The server didn’t even tell us her name, throughout the entire service she didn’t even know it was his birthday and we left without having anything feeling special from the night. Spending $300 on a dinner for 2 people is something I will never do again at kasamoto specifically for the average service and no acknowledgement of the special event. I had called 3 times to ensure they knew it was a special birthday dinner and nothing was acknowledged that evening. We were even sat at a corner table which was not something I enjoyed .
Went with 2 girlfriends for summerlicious dinner on Friday night. When we arrive, the table wasn't ready and we were asked to wait at the bar. At that time we mentioned we were doing Summerlicious and they informed us we could only sit downstairs and not on the patio, which wasn't a problem for us. However when the waitress brought us to our table she led us upstairs on the patio, we sat and ...we mentioned again we were coming for summerlicious which resulted in us being kicked out because indeed we were supposed to be sorted downstairs.
And then the service disaster started, we ordered a bottle of white wine and were not asked to taste it, no wine cooler was provided, I had to request it in the middle of diner. The plates they use are beautiful but very heavy (made of slate) and the waitress was literally throwing them on the table (very unpleasant noise ). This is a place that position itself as upscale however the service doesn't reflect this at all.
Regarding the food, the scallop ceviche was excellent, the miso lamb fried rice was not a success (meat very fatty), and dessert was average. Nobody came to check on us otherwise I would have mentioned the meat at that point and would have appreciated a replacement.
When we paid, I explained all of these issues to the waitress and her reaction was VERY professional. She apologized for what she had missed and the miscommunication regarding our seating . She was not defensive at all, it was almost the highlight of the night ... We will not be back. Summerlicious or not, service should be exactly the same. Would not recommend either, we didn't spend a pleasant moment.
Food was tasty, service is average
Food is just average; it's a take on Japanese cuisine, westernized with heavy sauces and often overseasoned. Some of their dishes show flashes of genius (the pork belly buns had a rich flavour, well done!), while most are between okay and downright disappointing (the miso tofu is overly salty and the crispy bits around it taste of raw flour, while their kamameshi rice tastes alright but has almost none of the mushrooms or roots promised).
Service is inconsistent, with quick delivery from the kitchen but guests often forgotten by the waitresses. Nothing dramatic, but for a restaurant at this price point, they are sub-par. Atmosphere-wise, avoid the patio unless you love the feeling of a pretentious club/lounge, not to mention the furniture is oversized and not fit for eating (again, more for lounging back with a drink). Overall it feels like a "seen and be seen" place, with overpriced mediocre food, banking on their location in Yorkville.
Such a nice place to head to after work. Sitting on the patio has a European feel to it. The food is delicious. A must go.
they sat us in a very terrible table and when we asked to be moved they said no. i think because i booked through an app.
We order just a few items and it turn out some are very good : lobster Caesar $40, Pwagy fried rice$18. Good such as Cali roll $12, kasa moto roll $25, and some are not bad: lobster maki. We’ll be back just to try out other items. Oh the patio looks great and highly recommended if the weather is nice and cooling.
The seating process was a disaster. We arrived at 5:30, and the place wasn’t busy at all, but we were placed at the most awkward location of the restaurant- in front of the washrooms and the path to the kitchen. We asked the host to move us somewhere more towards to the back of the restaurant, at first she refused. Then another couple asked to be seated somewhere as well, they were also refused. The over all first impression wasn’t great.
Finally seated, got seated at the table beside the bar and the way to the walk-in fridge. The staff were very unprofessional, as it looks like that the place where they hangout and chit chat. I can barely have a conversation sitting there, there were too many of them there and they were just too loud.
Food wasn’t bad.
It was a birthday, no mention of it by staff, even though included in reservation
Just ok, nothing memorable.
Kind of disappointed. The music is too loud and makes it hard for chatting with friend who sit the other side of table. Orderednthe Green Bean, Asparagus Robata& Crispy Tofu as my main course. But the Crispy Tofu was OVERSALTED. The very beginning I thought it was only my plate with the issue and assume that was only an "accident". Then I found my friend who ordered the same one was complaining too. It was TOO SALTY that made us even hard to swallow. We then tried to put all the crispy surface aside and just eat the inside tofu, hoping to be less salt and at least to be able swallow, but it turned out to be oversalt too. Compared with other high-end dining places, their Summerlicious menu seems to tell people like " well, we do not seriously care about Summerlicous, we just participate and show our name on it"---You will want to order something else other than the Summerlicous menu they provided if you really want to have something worth to eat there. The overall price went up but the experience really disappointed me and my friends.
Mixed review. Our service this time around was good, but definitely not outstanding. The food was good; our friend ordered from summerlicious menu, and didn’t feel like the lobster Caesar salad was anything special. It was simple and us being able to visually see how it was made (as we were given a booth seat right in front of the kitchen), we weren’t pleased. The pressed sushi was great as usual. The only unfortunate thing was we had seats on the patio initially, but summerlicious menu wasn’t served upstairs so we had to head downstairs. When we wanted to move upstairs with our drinks, our server informed us there would be quite a long wait. We had previously dined a few times already, so surprised that this time we weren’t able to get escorted upstairs with our drinks through the private area.
The food is so so- I would recommend going in for appetizers and finger food rather than a full meal. Drinks are very good and overall a fun spot to hang out especially the patio! Also ask for Max when you go in- he’s fantastic and really takes good care of your table!
I've tried it once, it's good but I wouldn't go back.
Bery good food n staff noncomplaints
Amazing food, drinks, service and environment!!
Love the patio. Great spot. Thank you
Lovely rooftop patio. We shared several appetizers and a branzino. Everything was lovely.
The Champagne was iced and flowing. We’ll be back!
The food and ambiance were fantastic! I would highly recommend Kasa Moto!
I had an amazing dinner. Annika was my server, and she was very professional and went above all expectations! I've eaten here a number of times but this was by far the best service yet. And the food was delicious!
Amazing! Love this place. Food and ambiance is exquisite.
Great spot. Great vibe. Rooftop patio. Waygu Beef Rice is amazing.
Overall very good food and venu. However, food comes out randomly without regards to mains and apps. For example, our main of Sea Bass came out before our ceviche and salad. Server indicated that customers need to specify but no mention of this when order was placed so how is a customer to know?
Really rude hostesses working that turned us away, downloaded open table and made a reso for 20 mins later walked back in and were sat ten minutes early when previously they wouldn’t even give us an estimate on a time we could even make a new reso for later almost as if they didn’t want us there, my advice download open table and bypass all that none sense.
This last weekend We went to celebrate my husbands birthday. I had One and STK booked but decided to go here and cancelled the others.
When I booked I had requested the rooftop because we wanted to stay after dinner and have drinks etc. In my request I asked for a dinner table not a lounge height table because it’s hard to eat a full meal with 6 ppl. Fast forward we got a booth/lounge table in front of the DJ and center of the rooftop because they said they didn’t have any other dinner tables available. No problem!! We ate dinner even though it was uncomfortable for 6 people we weren’t fussy made it work and were just there to enjoy the night.
As the the night approached we found the server stopped coming by and we had to literally chase her down if we needed a drink. By 11pm we couldn’t get any service. The manager then basically comes over and tells us we have to leave and pay our bill because they need the table for bottle service I believe
He wasn’t even tactful he just said too bad.
Funny thing we are all in our 40’s now and we’re doing bottle service when it was first introduced to TO over 20 years ago. People should never judge because we were with some very influential people that evening but we just wanted to lay low.
I would never recommend this to anyone from a service perspective, we were treated like we were not good enough. If they wanted bottle service from that table we would of happily done so.
As we left the server came over and said she was sorry because she was told to stop serving us so we would leave.
Basically this restaurant wanted to deliberately give us bad service so we would leave and ruin our experience so they could cater to another.
I never ever take time to write a review online because I own multiple businesses in the GTA and I know it’s hard to please everyone plus taking the time is to write this is not worth my time. I just had to! I was compelled to share this with guests regardless of what they take away from my review.
It's nice. Has great food and location is pretty convinient. Only sad part is that patio is "request" only at booking which mean it's not guaranteed for the patio seating.
Shout out to Vito and MJ for taking care of my girlfriend and I. Was an incredible evening on the patio.
