The food, service & ambiance were good, just a little spendy. 22 oz bone in ribeye for $69.
Beautiful sunset evening and my scallop dish was fantastic. I was a bit hesitant with the reservation because reviews were mixed and we knew prices would be high. Only disappointment was booth was too small for a group of four and 2 in our group unfortunately had their backs to the sunset view and is what you are paying a premium for. We are not large people. Suggest larger U shaped booths/tables to accommodate four near the windows for dinner prices. All desirable view seating is only for 2 and not a group of 4. Price was high for overall value.
Service was slow... food was meh... the view was great.
I’ve heard good thing things about this place and excited to try it out. We were hotel guest and travel often. One of our favorite things to do is try new places for dinners. This place has seen better days. The service was slow and the waiter was average. We were celebrating a birthday and I called ahead and nothing was done or even a knowledges. I ordered drinks and the waiter completely forgot. The food was average. I had the surf and turf. I asked for medium, it was over cooked and the surf was bland. I ordered a side of the potatoes and they were way too salty. I grabbed the checked, paid and left. I would never return. Overpriced, small portions and average food.
Very slow and lacking service. Beautiful sunset with average food. Probably wouldn’t return
Typical hotel restaurant. Average food and expensive price.
Great food, great view, amazing service. Will definitely be back
Kauai Grill hits it on all cylinders - great food, awesome service and the view is spectacular! We will definitely return the next time we visit Kauai!
Great place in Princeville to go for romance and a nice dinner. Amazing views and ambiance. Portions are a bit small for the cost but we left satisfied. We enjoyed their Ahi poke appetizer. My husband had the octopus appetizer which was very good and I had the sweet potatoes soup which I loved. We both had the Mahi which was the only fish entree on the menu. That was very good too. We ended with the bread pudding which was small but just enough to satisfy a sweet tooth. Our waiter was very polite and accommodating. He even took us outside to get pictures during the sunset. Not somewhere I would go every night for dinner but if you are looking for a romantic, solid dinner with amazing views would recommend.
Freezing temperatures inside, however food is good
We were very very disappointed.
The only thing good about the meal was our Sequoia...our waiter. He was the best.
We also ordered a side dish of broccoli. It came sitting in water on the plate. It tasted like they boiled it for 3 minutes put it on the plate, sprinkled a very very light dusting of parmesan cheese. It was like eating boiled broccoli without anything on it.
And, the rest of the meal had the same non flair, non taste.
But, you can believe the prices have flair.
The service was terrible! Michael was “supposed” to be our waiter, he never arrived until well after the restaurant manager had come by, taken (and delivered) our drink order, and then came back to take our dinner order. When dinner did arrive, they were missing one of the side orders. Food itself was good, but by the time we left, the poor service overall creates a very negative experience.
NOT a pleasant experience, except in the service from the manager.
This was our second time and was excellent but still pricey as you pay for the spectacular view. Only complaint is small portions of food for what you pay. It would not kill them to add slightly more quantity like 4 scallops instead of three only on that plate. Typical high end resort.
Experienced service staff that are very pleasant.
The service was great. The food was good, but we really missed the tasting menu. The menu could have been much more exciting.
Great service, great food and best view in the world.
Overall the view and atmosphere was great, but food deserves to be better. Octopus was fine, but dry. Steak is definitely was Bad - taste with no spices((( cocktail looks good and that’s all
The food and service was great. Had a table right by the window and was able to view the sunset during dinner! The valet parking was really easy.
Relaxed, low key vibe with attentive service and a very creative menu. Be prepared to pay for this though.
Service was poor Forgot Birthday request Food was very average Asked for window seating They were putting us in the back Overall totally disappointed in KauI Grill Would not recommend
Delicious tasting, beautiful views of the ocean and great service except the food service was a little slow coming out and the server allowed too much time to lapse between courses. We wish the restaurant wasn't so noisy..perhaps high-back chairs and booths would soften diners' voices? Otherwise, we will definitely be dining here again the next time we visit the island! Thank you!
Not the same like it used to be. Service was good drinks was good but the food was ok missed the old menu
As a vegetarian your stuck w/an awful beet salad. You can get a piece of local fish for less than $20 . Menu needs complete over haul and is out dated. I won't go back until Starwood takes over.
I would recommend dining here if you're able to get a window seat while it's still light out. Food took a long time to come out and they weren't busy, some items were cold/lukewarm and others hot. So maybe just order a salad and have a drink.
Better views from literally any other restaurant on property. Only 4 tables near windows. Was hoping food would make up for lack of view but waited an hour for our order and food was lukewarm when we got it. Drinks were strong and there was a terrace we could run out to to watch sunset.
Great place to watch the sunset! Menu was a little pricey but food was delicious.
This is a great restaurant for a special night out. If you can get a reservation for sunset, do it.
Was a bit disappointed with our last meal. We’ve previously been and loved our entire experience. This evening we had very mediocre service, and even the manager noticed it was happening. Would still most definitely return to this restaurant.
Service was slow. Our serving attendant had too many tables.
Worst service at this price point EVER. Never checked on us, asked about more cocktails, refilled water. Nothing. So disappointing
Very substandard and lacking its former charm and cuisine. Now....it’s just food
Quality and creativity have both declined to a new low. Closure of the Terrace has introduced noisy kids; there are few fine dinner choices in the neighborhood
High end restaurant with high end prices. Food was good, but my steak was over cooked. If you are paying those prices your food should be prepared correctly. Service was again good, but not amazing. Sat facing window for sunset, but having to squint does kill the ambience a touch. All in all a good high end place to eat, but I’ve eaten better in DC.
This place was beyond awful! Service was s slow, food took forever to get, and once food came it was overcooked and cold.
Very expensive for what you get
Our server Frank was amazing and super helpful. He was very professional and made our experience memorable.
Ordered the scallops, not available. Noise level, off the charts. Second choice, filet. Ordered medium rare, it was medium to medium well. Was offered another filet but declined because my husband was almost finished with his meal. Then offered free dessert for both of us but we we're done! Our server, Mike, was great and felt very bad for us because this was an anniversary dinner.
Birthday Ordered seafood platter, oysters and shrimp were fresh and delicious, but crab was old and dried out. Our son had grilled fish and it was spicy, he could not eat it. Why would you serve kids food that spicy
For shame, our 20th anniversary with reservations made over 2 months in advance. Never having been at the restaurant, I reserved for 6:00p knowing sunset was set for 6:46p. My wife and I arrived early, sat upstairs at the bar and got a chance to absorb the beautiful scenery this amazing hotel has to offer. Unfortunately, that would be our last up front point of view. As I was concerned about the reservation overall, I went downstairs around 5:45p to make sure all was well. To my surprise there was only one window table available of 6 total (I think). Some were 4 tops and some were 2 tops and then there were booth set ups opposite them facing out to the sunset. So I approached the hostess who was so happy to see me and said how she Loved anniversaries, thought for sure she would save the last 2 top for us just 15 minutes later. As I was walking out she sat a random couple right in front of me. Then it turned out they had done something special for another couple celebrating their anniversary with seldom used outdoor seating...oh joy, I was so unhappy. Then, on top of everything else, they had to write off the chicken dish my wife ordered as they must have forgotten about us and our meal...so dry and tough. Overall, one of the worst experiences of our trip, having felt overlooked and under-served. Oh...forgot to mention, of the 5 tables that must have been seated right when the restaurant opened at 5:30p, 3 of them had children. This is intended to be a fine dining restaurant and the hostess just hands out the one precious item on the menu, the view. Nothing special offered, no desert, no drink....no nothing, just wrote off the chicken and likely surprised we paid at all. I even tipped out the water at 20% feeling sorry knowing it wasn't his fault. Anyway, I hope someone from the restaurant reads this...it was a random Thursday night to you, but Pi Day was my 20th anniversary which will now live on in infamy. Thanks for the memories. Robert
Dessert was cold inside & burned outside. Waiter did not fill wine glasses as needed during the meal or offer adjustment for failed dessert.
The food was good but I would agree over priced. The wait staff were lovely and the location is a large draw, but the food did not justify the prices.
