Kelseys Original Roadhouse - Kingston
Our group of 5 each had a generous , tasteful dinner.
Family birthday celebration
Our OpenTable reservation was not on record when we got their. Luckily there was room for us. We ended up with a bad table location. Kelseys had shut down their OpenTable reservation system (on their end) for the holidays and were not acknowledging reservations made on OpenTable. They said we did not have a reservation even though we had received a confirmation number and confirmations by email and text. Not impressed. Should we blame Kelseys, OpenTable or both!
Was able to watch the Blue Jay game.
Not a huge selection for draft beer.
Had two different orders of wings. Nothing to write home about.
We rarely go out to restaurants anymore because we always find the food is never as good as you make it at home. We had a special occasion, my sons high school graduation, and he chose Kelsey’s. At first our waiter was attentive, but once we all had drinks and he took our order we did not get seen again by him. We got served our meals by some other staff. My husband wanted another beer and the waiter avoided eye contact with us so we could not get his attention. My daughter went to the bathroom and asked if we could get some more drinks. My husbands chicken wings were ice cold on one end and warm on the other. My daughter grilled cheese sandwich was also cold. They brought out 2 meals and another 5 min later we received the last 3. The manager, we think, told us she took 20% off the bill, and apologized for the service, but said they have been busy. It didn’t appear to be that busy to us. Anyway, we also did not leave the waiter a tip, which was very difficult for us to do as we have never done that before. But my whole family agreed that he should not get one. We had one glass of water at the end that we all had to share.
Kelsey’s added a candle and valentines candles to the tables in Valentine’s Day....a very special, touch! Excellent experience!
Overall, the experience was very good. However, the music is too loud and as seniors who were hosting grandchildren, it was difficult to carry on conversations. We were in a great location in and enclave and had the noise been more controlled, the experience would have been absolutely wonderful.
A good place to get a sit down meal in a timely fashion with lots of selection
Service was a little slow but our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Food was tasty and nice sized portions. Nice touch having " on the house"desserts for the birthday people in our group.
Food and service was good. Quite busy on Halloween evening.
We took our daughter and friend out for dinner. Husband and I ordered fish and chips. It was awful! Still feeling sick from it. All batter barely any fish
It was good. Nothing special or outstanding. We had drinks before the food was ordered. Drinks that should have come with the meal, came when we were finished and one drink never came at all .
I think the Kingston location is due for some new flooring. The carpet is kinda disgusting.
Otherwise it was clean. I like that you have papertowels in the washroom with the bin near the door. I'm a germ consciousness person.
Food was tasty, waitress was great, kitchen was incredibly slow but it was ok because we were catching up with friends we hadn't seen in a long time. We were there 2.5 hours though!
We were a bit loud (party of about 14), and some of the kids made a mistake in their order..but staff handled it really well. Staff should refrain from calling the lady diners “ma’am” as we felt old when he did! Ha ha! We appreciated being able to make a reservation online
Food and service was good had a good time besides a forgotten birthday surprise that was nvr received
It was my son's 19th Birthday and he picked Kelsey's as he had just been to the one in Brockville and had the Doritos crusted chicken fingers. Upon arrival greeted warmly and shown to our table. When we started looking through menus we all agreed that the print was pretty small on the menu, and on top of that lighting above had been removed and changed to red bulbs to "set the mood" we were told. When we did mention about the lighting the manager did pop over and mention they carry braille menus....um...what? Lol She then explained she had a larger print menu as well. 2 orders were fish and chips and the rest of the orders were a chicken ceaser salad a mac and cheese and an award winning burger. My son was pretty dissapointed as in Brockville the pieces were much larger (dorito crusted chicken)and came with a variety of dipping sauces one being peanut butter which he loved this did not have the same . The fish and chips were both soggy from the cole slaw on the plate and were barely warm by the time served, they also said it was way to much batter to fish ratio . I really did not like the sauce on the ceaser salad so basically left the salad and ate the pieces of chicken. The mac and cheese was a hit along with the burger so 2 of the 6 meals ordered. The staff were great and the manager comped my sons dessert and gave him a "hands free" bday shot which was appreciated. I will return only for the appetizer of 4 cheese spinach dip and their sangria pitchers in the summer but I am afraid it will not be a place to choose for dinner out anytime soon.
My husbands food was cold when it brought out, took a long time to get our food.
I know the food is good, just made a bad choice that day. Server was rather cold until he brought the bills to the table, then very friendly. Had to ask twice for glass of water. Tipped him anyway. Hey, its Christmas. Had a great time visiting with friends.
Made reservation on line, but restaurant had no record of it, even though it said it was successfully submitted. Did not have to wait though.
The food was good and the service quick and pleasantly done.
Very noisy. Service ok but slow to bring the bill once meal was complete.
