Beautiful food and very attentive serving staff. This was our first visit and we were celebrating my husband's birthday. It was a wonderful experience, thank you!
We went here for my birthday, the food was excellent and spot on. We were over the moon with the service and food. We will definitely come back if we visit Napa in the future.
Unbelievable. Honestly, phenomenal. Easily the best Japanese food I’ve ever had. Every dish made you stop and enjoy the rich, complex flavors and intense umami. Best place in Napa!
Amazing service and delicious food! Our party had an individual with a tree nut allergy, so Kenzo adjusted 1 of the items on the menu to accommodate. Overall, a great experience and would recommend!
Simply the best.
by far one of the best japanese meals we’ve had! service and food were impeccable.
Outstanding food and service!
Wow, just WOW! We came for our 10th anniversary and we are so happy we did. The food and the service was outstanding, and we look forward to coming back!
Everything is exceptional at Kenzo...the service, the food, the cleanliness, the ambiance. Dining here transforms any occasion into a special occasion.
Kenzo is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to. Food-wise, it rivals Benu. Virtually all the courses were exceptional, especially the A5 Wagyu. Reserve wine pairing was also excellent, eapecially the Asuka cab franc. Since mostly seafood, there were a lot of whites and sake. Overall, very delicious! We were also seated at the counter, so saw the chefs at work preparing the food. That added to the experience as well.
Phenomenal service. Extremely traditional Kaiseki. Felt like the alcohol pairing was a bit overpriced, would probably skip that next time. But the food was amazing.
Booked 30 days in advance. The number of people the restaurant can accommodate is still limited due to COVID. We had an amazing meal. Service and presentation were as you would expect from a Michelin restaurant. Not cheap but it was totally worth the price.
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had!
Rivals French Laundry. The staff was very personable and made the experience that much more special.
What a perfect way to re-enter “normalcy” post vaccination! I could not recommend Kenzo more. Its service (thank you Lowell!), food and wine were all top notch. There were too many highlights to mention them all, but the eggplant with eggplant with edamame, seared grunt fish with cucumber vinegar soy sauce gelee, saggy tenderloin and toro were all heavenly. Kenzo was the perfect way to top off my self-pampering day!
Wonderful Birthday meal at an authentic Japanese restaurant. Both the food and service were impeccable.
One of my favorite dining experiences from start to finish. We came here for a double date with another couple and we all did the reserved pairing with our dinner. The service was amazing and the food was memorable. We’ve been to French Laundry a couple times in the last two months which I’m glad to have had that experience but I would gladly revisit Kenzo hands down again and again. The pairing was beautiful and love the fact we can order sushi a la carte.
Words cannot describe the experience at Kenzo. It was one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had. Extremely unique flavors and foods, amazing wine and sake, most importantly the staff is so well versed in Japanese culture and each pairing. I will be back. They were nice enough to provide me with a battery pack to charge my phone since I had a long drive ahead of me to San Francisco. Again, I will be back very soon. You guys are the best.
Everything is excellent :)
The keiseki course was awesome and will be best for anyone who’s obsessed with traditional Japanese cuisine. There are a lot of seafood dishes which can’t be missed! I mentioned it during the reservation that it will be my bday and they even served a complimentary Rosè to me.
The service, especially Alexis, was amazing and the food was subtle, seasonal, and exquisite
Every dish served looked great, virtually perfect plating. And the taste, the balance of flavors could not have been better. Service professional and smart, I never had to ask for anything, or felt something was missing. I was asked a few, focused and well intentioned questions that added to my dining experience.
Quiet jazz music in the background, calm atmosphere. Covid related protocols followed throughout the evening. This was my first restaurant dining experience since January, 2020, the start of the Covid pandemic. I would definitely return, and recommend to any other savvy and particular diners.
One Michelin star? Should be two.
It was fantastic
A magnificent experience. My wife is from Kyoto and was hugely impressed too. I had let general manager Tomonori-san know that it was her birthday so extra effort was expended on the menu and desserts.
The ten course Kaiseki meal was extremely well paced, honoring regional ingredients mostly from Japan. These ingredients... fish, meats, vegetables, broths etc were so thoughtfully, artfully and skillfully combined by chef Kenji Miyaishi. It’s hard to put in words the brilliance of the meal when viewed as its parts leading to the whole.
The chef’s varied high level experiences... Nihon Uni, Tsuji Culinary School, high end restaurants in Tokyo and Germany showed up in his combinations and sequencing of ingredients. His seemingly kind and calm nature showed up in the warmth of the courses he prepared.
We also benefited from the work of the great sushi chef accompanying him.
Kenji-san was most obliging and eager to see that we were having the best of experiences, and spared the time to come and see us. Same goes for the sous chef and our excellent servers. The dining room itself is minimalist, helping to showcase the food and, again, we could not have been happier with our evening at Kenzo. Thanks to chef and the rest of the team.
Understated, low key and staff are very attentive, perfectionist to a T.. Will definitely come back.
All the staff at Kenzo were nice and the food was unique, but I don’t think the portion, along with the selection of food and wine pairing justifies the cost.
A birthday celebration with my daughter. Everything was fantastic - the food, the service, the wine. We are looking forward to our next visit.
Amazing! One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had
Amazing authentic Japanese experience like no other in Napa Valley. An experience that makes any special occasion that much more extra.
Beautifully done highly recommended the reserve alcohol pairing.
Very good food and first Michelin star restaurant but too expensive
A nice experience but won’t do it again
Food here was really mediocre.
The appetizers are way too salty. The meat dishes (Wagyu beef and tilefish) are either over seasoned or bland, and the true great flavor of the meat was not there. Plus the sauces for the meat dishes just don’t taste right. The dessert -a Hojicha ice cream and a matcha cake -was way too simple and uninteresting and it tasted no better than what you can buy at supermarkets. These didn’t meet our expectation of a Kaiseki experience.
Plus the tasting menu’s portion was small- we had to order several additional rolls. Not sure if it was because of COVID that the restaurant had to cut portions.
Service was great.
Excellent meal and recommend all the people who love sushi
Amazing time celebrating our anniversary at Kenzo! The service was impeccable and food was delicious. Setup has been altered for covid. Theyre only taking 25% of full capacity so we were definitely 6ft from the other guests, plexiglass set up for protection at the bar, and the wait staff all wearing gloves and masks. Highly recommend!
Kenzo demonstrates true authentic Japanese
Honeymoon. Absolutely perfect.
Enjoyed the food and wine. One of my best experiences!
