Tucked into the upper story of a delightfully faded building in Chinatown, Kissa Tanto invites you into the little jewel that is the House of Plenty. First we will eat! Such supreme satisfaction we take from the delicate flavours of Japan and the warmth of ltalian cooking and feel it’s right to bring these culinary forces together to do a little dance. Why not? Soul mates are they not with their mutual love of noodles, rice, and proteins in their pure, delicious uncooked form?     Overall was alright, service was good, food was decent. Tasting menu wasn’t particularly good value, a few of the dishes were not that great (hamburger helper pasta basically), only six courses for 200$. Omelette and octopus salad were highlights. Cocktails were good.

    This was a highly anticipated visit for my wife and I and we were not disappointed. The food was outstanding and the service top notch. A highlight for my wife was meeting the chef, who came out to chat with us. We’ll be back for sure.

    Did the $155 omekase menu and totally worth it. Fantastic and perfectly filling - one of the best pastas we’ve ever had. Great service and cocktails - decor very nice with a non-pretentious vibe

    Food was amazing, as we expected. We chose the omikase meal so every dish was a surprise. Noise level was a bit loud making it hard to talk to others at our table or even hear the servers describe the dishes they brought out

    A must experience is the superb Omakase at Kissa Tanto. The entire serving team was wonderfully attentive and knowledgeable about every minute aspect of a dish, fully explained upon each course. We felt like the whole staff came by our table at one time or another. Settings were replaced with each serving. The dishes brought complex flavours to life with outstanding presentations. The ambience was cozy and intimate. An indulgence that deserves highest praise and commendations. A culinary delight, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

    I just wanna start off by saying, everything was absolutely amazing here, cooked to perfection. We ordered three appetizers: a dozen oysters, the octopus salad, and the beef tartare. For Main, we ordered a midcourse, which was the charcoal udon, and the main course, which was the duck breast, and added roasted vegetables as the side. Oysters- 10/10 The kimchi sauce was so delicious, and the crushed Nori paired beautifully with it. The aftertaste for the oysters is sweet and fresh. Beef tartare- 10/10 This may be one of my favorite places to eat tartar. It is paired with pickled radish, pear, and topped with a generous amount of Parmesan. Octopus salad- 9/10 This was definitely a twist on a classic. The octopus is actually deep-fried, but the meat was so tender and soft the sauce they paired it with was very mild and refreshing, the only thing I would say is that there is a little bit too much radishes, otherwise it would’ve been perfect. Charcoal udon- 9.5/10 They have homemade charcoal udon and the texture is chewy thick and I’m a huge udon fan, so that was absolutely amazing . The sauce was buttery, and very fragrant, all the seafood was cooked to perfection. The Dungeness crab was soft and tender. The only reason why I took half a point off is because it was slightly too salty, but this is definitely just a preference. Duck- 10/10 This is one of my favorite places for duck. The sauce was a peppercorn mushroom, and it was sweet, paired beautifully with the duck meat. I liked how Thay already has cut up the duck meat for you, so there were no bones or anything like that. The roasted vegetables on the side was a perfect pairing for this course. We ordered three drinks, two mock tails, and a cocktail, and I highly highly recommend the pickled plum soda for the Mocktail and the old-fashioned for the cocktail if you would like a richer smokier drink.

    Omakase for 4. Lots of dishes served, some from the a la carte menu and some specific to the omakase. Very delicious. Loved the delicate flavours and the variety of flavours!

    Interesting takes on classics. The octopus salad and the charred udon were stellar. I think that duck magnet at $65 was quite steep! No question it was delicious.

    Sadly disappointed and overrated. Cocktails were amazing and server was great. However, the food did not live up to the hype. It was underwhelming and did not live up to expectations. The ribeye was disappointing (and chewy), but we should’ve known better than to order an off menu item. Kudos to the server recommendations on cocktails and to the bartender.
