Tucked into the upper story of a delightfully faded building in Chinatown, Kissa Tanto invites you into the little jewel that is the House of Plenty. First we will eat! Such supreme satisfaction we take from the delicate flavours of Japan and the warmth of ltalian cooking and feel it’s right to bring these culinary forces together to do a little dance. Why not? Soul mates are they not with their mutual love of noodles, rice, and proteins in their pure, delicious uncooked form? Please leave yourselves in our hands as we take you on a divine culinary journey laden with beloved classics that have graced our menu since the very first day as well as choice, unique dishes that Chef Watanabe has created especially for our Omakase. A symphony of textures and flavours: cool, soft and herbaceous on the lips, the resistance of a perfect pasta noodle between your teeth. These are the kinds of dishes that are meant to be shared amongst friends and family so that all can delight. *Please let us know of any dietary restrictions or if you have had our Omakase on a previous occasion. **Any cancellations require 3 days notice.

    Our party of 4 had the Omakase (Chef Selection) with wine pairings. Our meal was spectacular and the wines that accompanied each course were perfect. The service and attention to details was absolutely incredible. Thank you for an amazing experience!

    Outstanding food and service. Delicious cocktails. The room is gorgeous evoking old Chinatown with polished tile. Innovative food and save for a few dishes very generously portioned. Can be noisy with a combination of music and energetic patrons. One of the few restaurants in Vancouver deserving of it's Michelin rating.

    Outstanding food and service. 10/10 Food was creative and very well executed. Our server, Simon, was attentive and made great recommendations. We also got to chat with the Chef on the way out which made our experience even more special. Tip - try the yuzu cream dessert.

    Kissa Tanto takes risks and on my visit they all turned out golden. The flavors don’t hit you over the head-the easy way to please. Rather, your palette is bathed with subtle but unmistakably complex tastes. The highlight was the pasta with mushrooms and preserved egg yoke but the octopus salad was a close second. The crudo was impeccably fresh and succulent but need a little something else (habanero?) to take it that one step farther. But this quibble is minor and a shout out to the sommelier for recommending a fabulous BC white wine for me. When in a local, drink locally if possible. Highest recommendation.

    We had family visiting and our evening at Kissa Tanto made incredible memories. We were a group of 6 and so we dined Omakase (chef's choice). We opted for the upgraded experience which was an investment and included additions such as caviar, king crab, etc. to a few dishes. It was worth it for a one time experience but would likely go with the standard menu next time as the food would still be incredible. Service was wonderful, each dish was explained in immense detail and we were promptly looked after. Overall a wonderful & memorable evening.

    Disappointed overall. Omakase experience and was upsold immediately upon sitting down. Came in with great expectations but the upselling and family style plating was not the experience we were looking for. Felt as if the chef took the easy way out. Some dishes were great but others were a big miss. To spit out crab shell during a meal shows lack of attention to detail for an omakase experience at $150+ plate. Would not recommend.

    We had an amazing time at Kissa Tanto. The food was delicious. The staff were great. Lots of knowledge about the wine, food and cocktails. The decor and ambience is spot on. Definitely a 10/10 experience.

    Chef Joëlle warmly greeted us at the entrance when we arrived. The four of us walked upstairs and were taken to our table. Our server, and others, attended to us with menus for food and beverages. The appetizers and main dishes were very creative, original, and divine. Chef Joëlle came to our table for a brief visit, which was beyond what we expected. Then we ordered dessert: 2 of 4 of us don't eat dessert, but we could not resist his creations. All 4 said "Delicious!" We completed our transaction then left, with the Chef waiting at the door to say Goodbye as we departed. Chef Joëlle is what makes this place and experience amazing and perfect. I have been here several times before and I look forward to returning very soon. Thank you so much for impressing all of us!

    Not sure if it was because of our race (we were the only brown people around), but nobody bothered telling us about any of the specials for the day. This was even as the rest of the people around us were being informed about special “off-menu” items that involved truffles, eggs and steak. We had to make do with what was in the menu. That completely ruined the experience. The food was mediocre (perhaps because it’s impossible to enjoy the food at a racist establishment), so maybe it’s a good thing we were excluded from the knowledge of the off-menu items.

    This was our third visit to Kissa Tanto. We scheduled to have the special Omikase. This is a meal that is designed by the chef especially. We had a vegan guest who received courses that were parallel to the rest of ours and not at all diminished in taste or quality. The service is first rate. The drinks menu is extensive and we were given excellent recommendations for sake. Outstanding meal!

    The atmosphere is nice, with a feel of old school (japanese, they say) jazz bar, the jazz music is fittingly present in the background, unfortunately totally overpowered by a very loud crowd that made it almost impossible for us to understand the explanations of the waiters. Service is diligent and attentive. The only minus there was that our drinks came halfway through the first starter. Would have been nice to have it while waiting for that. For the food, we went à la carte and took the octopus salad and tuna mantecato for starters. Both were delicious and especially the former beautifully presented. Next we had the equally fantastic tajarin. The taste of the fine fresh pasta was buttery and delicately flavored with mushrooms. We shared, but the portion would be OK for one, too. Main course was the whole fried fish. This was a bit of a disappointment: the cod was deep fried and not much was left of the meat. I felt sorry for the poor animal to finish in such a lackluster way. Desert made up for the downer: the cannoli were utterly fabulous. We had a great table next to the window. Sadly, the potted plants outside don't seem to get any love nor water... Maybe somebody can save them?

    World class service, from the moment you arrive the service is amazing, each server effortlessly operating to entertain and make sure you have everything that you need. The ambience is great and you have as much time as you want to enjoy each dish, which were fantastic. Great cocktails, wine, and beer! Would advise getting a cab to the restaurant as the area has a dangerous feel. But this was an experience well worth the price!

    Service is top notch! Absolutely refreshing to go out for dinner in this city and get excellent customer service. Drinks were amazing, as well. My only small issue was that while the food came out in good time, the drinks were a little on the slower side. Received our food before received our drinks. Overall, a very lovely experience.

    We are locals and It is one of our favourite places. Love the food, vibe and staff. Unfortunately it casts a shadow on this great experience when you are asked to leave twice during your visit to make way for the next seating. A Michelin or not, loyal guests shouldn’t feel they have to rush out.

    Service was excellent, the servers were very knowledgeable and made good recommendations. Noise level was VERY high which was unexpected and impacted our enjoyment - it was almost too loud for conversation. Food was very good and priced as expected for a Michelin starred restaurant.
