The Kolkata Club was born out of nostalgia: our memories of going to the clubs with our parents when we were children, and then ourselves as adults; lazy conversations over a cup of tea or a drink at the bar, the comfort of meeting the same people regularly, and a menu that we had almost memorized.
Based on the pictures and menu descriptions this place seems upscale and unique. But it is very average. The value is not worth it at all. Staff is very kind and helpful but that is not worth $125 for 2 people for a very average meal and one drink each.
It’s not bad but this comes off as a modern Indian fusion sort of place - but it is very average Indian food. Did not have any cocktails so can’t comment on that, but I was charged extra for gingerale after ordering a vodka gingerale- places that get greedy usually go out of business because people take notice and get turned off by it. I will not be returning. Would not recommend.
It was my sisters Birthday!! Average experience !!
Poor service, poor quality food, high cost, high noise levels. Spoiling the name of the iconic city used to name the restaurant after.
Ordered Lamp chops but it wasn't the same as usual at all.. Not worth the money!
Went for a birthday dinner. Felt that the tables might have been a bit too small for a party of four. The servers were quite gracious and accommodating, the live music was a good touch however a tad bit too loud at times. The food was good, the portions were reasonable and the prices were fair. Some of the curries are a bit hit or miss, however I would most definitely recommend the salmon fish tandoori appetizer which was quite delicious! Overall, a decent restaurant!
Amazing Food and amazing customer service. The staff was well trained.
Awesome food, great ambiance. Will surely visit again.
Great food and great service, definitely recommend to visit....!!!
The service was very slow, and the food didn’t come the way as requested!
Beautiful decor, loved the dim lighting. Food was great but it took a while to get to us. Severs were polite but a little confused when we asked questions about drinks/bar items. It was Valentine's day so I was hoping it would be a little quieter than it was, but there were several families also dining in that day. I would return for the food and fancy drinks!
Calcutta Fish fingers, lasun cauliflower and masala peanuts with lotus roots are very good with drinks.
Mango Lassie was good.
Dak Bungalow chicken and naans were very good. Calcutta Mutton Dum biryani was okay ( nowhere as good as authentic Hyderabad biryanis).
we were in the area and decided to try this place out. the food was amazing. and the team was super eager to ensure we had a great time. the owner came by often to check in.
we had the tandoori fish which was the best item we had. It was presented really nicely on the dish, and it was lights out delicious!
then we had the garlic pepper prawns, and again they were really great and every dish we had from this place was made to taste amazing.
it is nice to go to an Indian food restaurant that is trying to modernize the menu, and provide better ambiance. I would recommend going to this place if you are in the area.
Food could be better...server was nice
This was our third visit to Kolkata Club and if there’s one thing I have to say, the food never disappoints. On this visit we had to wait longer than we usually do at a restaurant, but we waited because it is worth it. They were very accommodating about changing our reservation time and size. All the wait staff were friendly even when our little one was getting restless. A great birthday dinner overall for my husband and mother in law.
Fabulous! Scrumptious food, wonderful service, beautiful ambiance!
Appetizers and starters are AWESOME! Signature items are to die for. However the Biryani isn’t as per the description. Would not recommend it. Everything else is super good. Especially the appetizers
My first visit was June 2018 and was fabulous in service and food. I returned three weeks later to terrible service and mediocre food. I decided to try a third time in order to settle the discrepancy in my first two visits.
I am certain management must have changed because even menu items were inaccurate. The aura and concept from my first visit was completely gone. The original owner had a fusion eclectic concept in mind which was not maintained by new owners. It's now just a regular mediocre indian cuisine restaurant.
Nice place. Lighting a bit too dark. That’s the only negative we felt
We did chef's tasting menu. but I think that was mistake. appetizers we tried jalebi Chaat and puchkaa. those are really good. but main course was regular nothing special. I thought Chef's tating menu will give us different dishes than regular dishes. but no they serve Daal, butter chicken and laal maas for main. in my opinion they should serve Kolkata specialties for Chef's tasting menu. not worth it for the money we paid for Chef's tasting menu.
I was impressed with the food and service - will come again ; I really liked goat dish- I will rate it as 4.5 out of 5
Worth the drive from Stoney Creek! The staff were very accommodating, pleasant and knew what they were doing. The food was different and quite delectable.
we were there for dinner (4) adults. 3 servers changed, person taking orders did not write or reconfirm so one item ordered was in correct. we did not make a fuss, though she asked at the end if we need to take away the right item, of course charged us for the wrong one. we have been there a couple of times before , but there is no consistency in the quality of service and professionalism. drinks were ok, took a while to arrive with 3 people at the bar.
Service - The customer service was great - prompt food delivery (within standard time limits), attention given to our kid for food choices (spiciness), no wait time for name sake
Food options - beverages menu had many unique options and food options suited us. One suggestion here was to include soups for starters.
Ambience - Perfect for a date or some family time away from routine. The lighting was perfectly dim. Candles were lit up for a candle light and some additional lighting.
Hands down the best Indian in the GTA!
Delicious and inventive British Indian cuisine served by amicable wait staff in a lovely ambiance. Everything we ordered was delicious and well made. I'll be back.
We loved the decor and enjoyed the tasting menu. We will Definitely be back
Amazing creativity with the food and drinks . Loved it
Great food, service , ambiance and decor. Highly recommended. Best Indian restaurant in the GTA.
This is my 5th time to this restaurant and always have a great experience. The ambiance is amazing. The lighting, seating create a very cozy environment. The food dishes are to die for. The red chili chicken tikka and lamb chops appetizers are delicious. The Lal Maas, Tawa fish and Prawn curry in coconut is heaven. The Gulab Jamun with coconut ice cream is just the perfect finish after an amazing main course. I would definitely recommend and encourage people to try this place for its perfect dining experience. 2 thumbs up and keep up the great service and food quality.
The food falls short of the elaborate descriptions the menu provides. The roast chicken is far from it should be. It was just another chicken curry....
Great ambiance and very tasty food and ice cream, very good Anglo Indian and Fusion food, extremely innovative, and the garlic nann was exceptional.
Food and drinks were great. It’s a bit too dark and I found the drinks to be delicious but a bit too expensive
We have enjoyed our meal.
Enjoyed the food as saw new items on the menu, all items were flavourful!
Excellent dining facility; the food was delicious; service was friendly and the server was very knowledgeable. Would definitely return
Food was good. Service was excellent. One disappointment was being charged for chilies and hot sauce.
It would be nice to provide them without a charge as the food was priced a little higher.
We had a total of 4 people , 3 of them liked hot (spicy) food. One person was not able to eat very hot (spicy) food. So getting chilies for the 3 and ordering mild food made sense.
Thank you for a spectacular evening! We had a great waiter (Hardeep i believe), who knew the menu and wine list in detail. Great experience and will definitely be returning.
Nice place with delicious food. Service was great.
It was lovely coming back and bringing our guest along with us. Always a pleasure to come back and try out a new delicacy!
delicious food! modern twist on indian classics. Lovely decor and professional service. Try the tasting menu... very nice.... We hope this place does well considering the location.
