We look forward to welcoming you to La Banane.
The plateau plates from the raw bar are a must! Service was impeccable!
Service was outstanding...some of the best I've ever had in the city. Food was right up there too.
Great atmosphere, delicious food and very good service.
We were only 2 people, so limited in how much we could eat without going over. We had their seafood platter, which was amazing. Everything tasted so fresh! Cocktails were great as well.
For a special occasion, we had the disco egg - it's pretty big and great presentation! Truffles/chocolates inside were delicious. Enough to just try once.
We would like to return to try other items on the menu.
Excellent service, cocktails, and food!
Had a phenomenal meal with my out of town guests last Tuesday! I was blown away by the level of hospitality that this restaurant provides. Our server Murray currated a wonderful experience that my guests have now started raving about at home. Thank you to the whole team for making us feel special and taken care of!
Fantastic meal in a wonderful, contemporary setting. We had the tasting menu and it was fabulous! Thanks to our server Kate for the menu suggestions and wonderful service. We’ll be back!
Really great experience. The surprise birthday cake was ruined when the waiter announced " So who's birthday are we celebrating?" and it was hard to hear one another, but otherwise one of the best dining experiences we have ever had, and good value for the money.
Not crazy about the 3 month wait but glad I had the experience. Our server Robert was over the top. The food quality, creativity and presentation was stellar. I will definitely go back. See you in another 3 months.
Had a fantastic dinner, service was excellent, a 10 out of 10 evening.
Good superior. The noise level was tolerable and a bit distracting. Love this place.
Had the seafood tower and was excellent. Get the petit so you have the lobster and crab. Best mussels, shrimp and scallops we have ever had, the rest was top notch and rivalled anywhere else. Sat at bar, superb service from the wee tender. Will return, new favourite restaurant in Toronto!
Wanted to go to this restaurant for so long and left a little disappointed - food was "Meh". They sat us way in the back despite it being our anniversary and that I booked quite awhile before. Seats faced kitchen door and the air conditioning was very high and blowing directly on us (actually windy!). They moved us 1 table over and 2 other couples sat and then moved from the original table. For the money (about $300 in food for 2 and another $250 in wine) wouldn't go back. Did enjoy the lobster starter, the pate was just okay, Sea Bass encroute was high on presentation...just average in flavour. As long as you are at the front or in booths the ambiance would have been great - our table was a disappointment and set the tone.
We were treated very kindly and attentively on our Wedding Anniversary.
Excellent seafood selection and a perfect, simple peppered steak.
The food is good enough to warrant a rave review.
Service is quick and attentive, not overbearing. Think ‘young and spunky’.
Wine by the glass is expensive, of average quality, and the pour is barely five ounces.
Seating is particularly uncomfortable. Anyone over the age of 40 will not linger. We sat near the front, a banquette facing two rickety chairs.
I might go back, not sure. When I spend north of $300 for dinner I like to be comfortable.
Outstanding and knowledgeable staff. Create and very high-quality food, with genuine French bistro vibe. Super sexy and appropriate decor for theme.
We were quite impressed how delicious the drinks are at the bar; the menu is short and too the point with great options! We had a wonderful time!
We went there to celebrate our anniversarie, and we found a friendly place, with smiling people, the food was incredible, the perfect place for a special occasion.
Service was impeccable. Food was outstanding. Highly recommended. MUST HAVE: The scallops in the seafood platter - your taste buds will go for a killer ride.
The whole team was incredible and didn’t miss any detail. Incredible.
Loved it, I had crab back gratin and everything about it was amazing, it wasn't cheap but I was happy to pay the price because the flavors and textures were on point. Service was excellent, loved my experience
Food was awesome, but service could have been more attentive and professional. It's an expensive restaurant, and yet our one waiter seemed to be serving 6 or 7 tables. Right from the start, we had to wait 10 minutes just to get a menu.
Perfect for a birthday!
Incredible! The food was innovative and perfectly prepared and the service was outstanding.
We had a fantastic experience this weekend. We opted for the carte blanche menu, gave a few suggestions of what caught our eye on the menu and we couldn’t have had it better. Each dish got better and better from the oysters to the seared tuna, decadent foie gras and mouth watering euro bass. We asked our waiter if we could do a wine pairing and he confidently customized one for us including a 1985 white port and some unique sake which we were pleasantly surprised by. Robert was our waiter and he was fantastic, knowledgeable (one of their sommeliers) and just genuine. Fantastic place to celebrate a birthday and worth the experience.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal. We chose to sit st the bar so we could watch the action.
The food was delicious... from oysters to foie gras and then sweet breads.
Our waiter/bartender was attentive and focused.
heartily recommend La Banane!
Excellent as always. Warm greeting - felt at home. Best French cuisine in the city.
This was my second time at La Banane and it was just as good as my first time there. Amazing service and the food was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend the foie gras, fried chicken, and duck breast. I will be a frequent flyer here!
We came to Le banane because of so many people glowing reviews. Love the ambiance and decor and service. We booked a corner table online but upon arrival were seated elsewhere due to number of party is less than 4. However after few minutes the host rectify the issue and seated 7us at our requested spot. We started the appetizer with 1/2lobster and raw scallop. They were fresh and subtle . Scallop portion was so generous, although a bit monotone after a while .We proceed to main with beef tartare which was great , probably the best dish we had. The texture is amazing and the sauce just add enough kick and creamyness to the meaty dish while balanced by crispy potatoes Our highlight was supposed to be the sea bass cooked in puff pastry. Very dissapointed that all we taste was salt. although we have been warned by the waiter. It was served with citrus fragranced sauce which smelled nice, but was very acidic and pungent. Too much acid too much salt in one dish. I would like to think that its probably an off night and they over seasonedd it. But that was not the only dish that I found lacking balance. The broccolini and almonds had a perfect char and all but the sauce is again too lemony ( and my friend and I both like strong flavours) we just think they are way too overpowering for what could have been a more refine dish .We also had the sweetbread, which is very generous in portion , we enjoyed this dish especially the gravy like sauce.
Our dessert the Ziggy stardust egg, looks spectacular. But once opened again we are very dissapointed. Filled with truffles , dried fruits , and crunchy white chocolates For $50 worth of dessert I would love to see more creative use of textures. I honestly thought the complimentary le banane chocolate they served had more excitement.
Overall, this place has a good ambiance, good service, a hit and a miss menu but we only try it once so maybe came on the off night. I feel really bad because I want this resto to nail it.
All cooked food was salty! My duck was salty, tough and gamy! The crab gratin was salty, too much lemon! Side salad was very salty! The mesh potato was very bad too! The salmon has no taste! It was a very disappointing night! We never will go back again!
Amazing night at La Banane. Our server Chris Murray was fantastic and gave us amazing recommendations for food and drinks (get the salmon). One of my new favourite spots in Toronto. Definitely will be back!
It was our second time there and it was just as great an experience as the first!
The mini plateau was great for two and the oysters were the highlight of this course. The foie grad was a terrific choice following the Seafoid starter before our main dish- eurobass. A sure sign of a great restaurant for me is the offer if cheese as dessert. I indulged in three scrumptious cheese choices and the blue was my favourite. We enjoyed the service, being tucked away from the fray of things and staff attention to detail. Bravo team La Banane!
Phenomenal Service - Outstanding Food! Attention to detail was impeccable - Well done to the entire team at La Banane. Top-notch Experience, highly recommended if you want an experience worth talking about for days to come.
Everything was amazing. Best meal I’ve had in a long time. And the chocolate egg - omg - best birthday treat ever. Can’t rave enough about this place and can’t wait to come back!
We thought the food was very good. We enjoyed sitting at the raw bar and watching the preparations.
Amazing experience! Great service, great food, and great ambience. Special shout out to the the hostess for being so accommodating to all of our requests. We had a baby with us and they made us feel right at home.
This place just keeps getting better. Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, and even better service! We’ll be back.
Outstanding in every way. Among my most memorable meals. Delicious. Great vibe. Food and staff were fantastic. Had the fish en croute. Wow! If I lived in Toronto, I’d eat there all the time.
