We look forward to welcoming you to La Banane.
Authentic French restaurant. The menu was not to my personal liking but that does not mean the food was bad. Just not my preference. I had the Albacore tuna starter and duck breast main. Tuna, with capers, was too salty and the duck breast was done medium rare. Never had duck that was raw in the middle.
Again, food was presented very well, just not to my liking.
Food was incredible
Everything a guy dreams of, cooked with perfect technique.
Awesome food. Awesome service. Will definitely be back again.
Service was very good. Really enjoyed the fish en croute but thought the fried chicken was a bit salty.
Lovely drinks. Nice spot.
Delicious dishes, impeccably service with great attention to detail. Would highly recommend!
La Banane is not a place you want to frequent all that often (not because it is very very good) because no normal human beings waste line could handle it.
The service was impeccable with particularly nice touch being the tidy folding of a companions napkin by one of the staff when they had left the table (I have never seen that before). Everything was outstanding for us other than possibly the disco egg but that was likely because we were already well past full. A special hat tip to their choice of partnering up with winery Pearl Morissette for wines by the glass.
I actually had never heard of La Banana until walking by a few months ago on my way to another Ossington restaurant nearby. I was intrigued after peeking in the window and reading a little online. I told some friends that we needed to try it. Then just days before our reservation, my Toronto Life appeared in my mailbox with you featured on the cover and I was very excited. My husband and I along with our 2 friends had an amazing experience from the martinis to the atmosphere to our main server, Daniel, to the shared foods (shrimp, cod cakes, steak, beets, fried chicken) EVERYTHING was on point and delicious. Then came the Egg (my birthday!) and my evening was complete. Thank you thank you for a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back. Pamela G
Excellent food and great staff, had a good birthday celebration
The food was outstanding, I particularly loved the duck breast and scallops. The service at La Banane is probably one of the best I’ve experienced in a while. I highly recommend coming here for a date, special occasions, or even every day dinning cause it’s that good!
Went here for a birthday celebration. Oysters were incredibly fresh, French omelette was cooked to perfection. Mains were great, especially the duck. Nice ambiance and complimentary chocolates at the end of the meal was a nice touch.
Loved it all! Food fantastic and service is impeccable.
We had a great experience for a birthday party. The cocktails and the service was outstanding. The food was delicious but on the whole, after dinner and desert was done, our party felt like it was heavy even though we did not order a lot of volume.
La Banane is a must, the food, service and ambiance are all fantastic! We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and were not disappointed. The staff is great, each and every one that came to our table was knowledgeable and friendly, we had such a great time and will continue to dine at La Banane often.
I booked my table 1 week prior to the day, when we got there, they were out the top 3 main courses!!
The service was very good, but the food was just ok, which was very disappointing although a couple of the dishes( scallops in buttermilk and banana cake with salted caramel ice cream) were quite good. There didn't seem to be any depth to the flavours and I really didn't understand some of the dishes( nuts and caramel with delicate foie gras).
Great dining experience with very attentive waiting staff, Oysters were amazing and featured wine very smooth
Very nice ambiance in this modern french bistro. The portions are quite small for the price. All fish/meat just come as is, you will need to get sides as well for a full meal.
The food was very good. I especially enjoyed the oysters and the banana cake.
Overall, a great experience but be aware of the small portions.
After reading very good reviews , I was expecting a bit more in value and creativity. It appeared that the dishes were 'trying' to be unique but fell a bit short. Although the menu did list all vegetables to be a la carte, I was disappointed to see only the entree arrive on all of our entree dishes ...a lonely sight. Even a sprig of parsley or lavender would have added to the presentation. With so many options for dining in Toronto, I would not hurry to return.
The euro bass is a must try and the beef tartare was best I’ve ever had. Service was fantastic, sequencing of the various plates was perfectly timed.
One of the best meals I have had in canada. You need to eat here... get a seafood platter... and the sea bass
Service was fantastic, food was excellent. banana cake is a must-have....little too much salt in the salted caramel ice cream.
Amazing dinner and service from start to finish. Love this restaurant!
The quality of the food and overall experience was excellent. Even though we were seated at the bar, the service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant was bustling without making it at all difficult to converse. And the food—from the “low brow” fried chicken to the most perfect omelette I’ve ever eaten to the interesting and delightful cold charred zucchini—was exceptional. Every dish we ordered was a perfect showcase of its ingredients, but without any undue bravado or affectation. Recommended.
I'm a saucy girl and usually I find that restaurants - even French - don't serve enough to last through the meal. I'm always asking for more. This restaurant, however, is the opposite extreme. Food is SWIMMING in sauce and while flavourful, it makes the overall dish sickeningly rich. I also think it's essential with dishes as rich as these ones to include some type of green - it's absolutely needed for balance and expecting the diner to order a side is a rip off. I know this is the trend but it always feels like a gouge.
Had a wonderful time at La Banane! They seated us right in front of the raw bar in a booth, just like i asked. The seafood platters are worth every penny! Got the Petite Plateau $145 - for 2 its enough for a full meal, best to share for at least 3-4. I highly recommend all the seafood. Very fresh and large portions - the oysters were my favourite! The eurobass $42 was cooked very well, but I didn't enjoy the yuzu beurre blanc - it was too acidic and it tasted very floral and it was very salty - its baked with a salted crust however the amount salt was overwhelming, it made it hard to finish. The pommes aligot were creamy and fluffy - Recommend. We finished off with the Banana cake? and salted ice cream - amazing, you have to order this! We also got the box of 9 chocolates, expensive $24 - we splurged. Go for the seafood and the banana cake + ice cream!
World class restaurant! Very special place.
Nice decor. Good service. Portions were small for the price.
It was a treat night and La Banane is certainly a treat! We had a great meal and good wine and our server was delightful! The decor is also beautiful!
The quality of food and level of service was exceptional
Staff was outstanding. Food was amazing. Wine markups were a bit over the top.
One of my new favorites in Toronto. Quality is top, creativity at its utmost level as well . Bravo.
Fabulous food... we had the tasting menu in order to try as many dishes as possible. Nothing disappointed! The omelette, something I would not normally order, was phenomenal- light, creamy, delicate mix of herb and egg. A must ! Great sommelier. He knew the wines well and give us n excellent recommendation.
We celebrated a special birthday on a Wednesday evening and La Banane truly went out of their way to make us feel special. The food was fantastic and the staff were terrific. Thanks again!
It was one of the best meals ever
The food was perfect and so were the staff. The design and lighting were fantastic. Would highly recommend the La Banane experience!
