We look forward to welcoming you to La Banane.
The seafood, asparagus, mushrooms and Bibb salad we had was delicious and the service was attentive but unobtrusive. All in all an incredible dining experience. Also we would highly recommend the Disco Egg for dessert!!!
Overall great experience!! Chris, our server was knowledgeable and made our night extra special. Food was amazing and wine recommendations were on point. Will definitely return. Great neighbourhood gem on the Ossington strip.
Great restaurant. Service was very attentive. The food was amazing. The Eurobass was out of this world. The Ziggy Stardust disco egg was lots of fun and a nice dessert surprise. Lobster ravioli was so-so. Otherwise everything else we tried was excellent.
Bathrooms were very stylish and worth a visit.
One of the best places in the city, no question. Definitely on the heavier side but well worth the calories.
Great - they gave us a complimentary cocktail each - French 75 - beautifully prepared.
Great dinner with an outstanding seafood bar.
The service was very professional headed by Olivia's English charm.
I had very high expectations based off the reviews . The food was excessively salty. I do not normally complain but the food was inedible. We had to leave and eat somewhere else. It was unfortunate because I really wanted to love it there.
My husband and I went to La Banane for our wedding anniversary and it exceeded our expectations. Fantastic food, friendly staff, great drinks - will definitely be back! Time for Thyme cocktail with thyme infused gin was addictive. King crab was delicious. Steak au poivre and duck breast were both amazing and cooked to perfection. Can't wait to go back!
Exceptional, great staff and service.
Wonderful Food and Terrific Service
This was our first time dining at La Banane and all four of us can’t wait to go back. The dishes we ordered were beautifully presented and delicious. When we arrived we ordered some cocktails. Some of the cocktails we loved were the Hemingway Daquiri, the Bergamot Sidecar and the Cat’s Pajamas. While we were having our cocktails, we were presented with some warm salted pretzels in the shape of branches. These were delicious. For our appetizers, two of us ordered a dozen oysters from out East and they were fabulous. They were fresh and served with lemon and 3 different sauces. One person ordered the seared foie gras, and another member of our party ordered the liver and onions and both thought these dishes were amazing. For our mains, one person ordered the Lobster Ravioli and the rest of us ordered the Eurobass en croute. The Eurobass is a beautifully creative one-of-a-kind dish. It is a whole fish that is wrapped in a latticed pastry crust. The dish was presented at our table and then taken back to the kitchen where it was carved and then returned to the table and served with yuzu beurre blanc and zucchini. I would suggest ordering a side of beets with candied walnuts and blue cheese to go with the Eurobass. For dessert we had the Banane Gateaux served warm and it was delectable. All of our dishes were creatively presented and memorable. They also have an extensive wine list that compliments the food. The food is fabulous and so is the staff. I would like to thank Kate and Daniel for their knowledgeable, professional and attentive service. They helped make our dining experience fun. We look forward to our next visit to La Banane. If you are looking for an excellent French restaurant with creatively prepared and presented cuisine, then La Banane should be on your list.
The menu selection is devoid of any filler. All entrees and mains are cream of the crop specialties. Do not be afraid to try something you wouldn't normally try. The service is exemplary, so long as you listen and take their suggestions. Don't go to this restaurant if you like to tell your servers and the kitchen how you want your food done. These are top professionals, allow them to do their job and it will be a delicious night to remember. I have to highlight the omelette with fine herbs and the Eurobass as the most splendid surprises of the night. Night at the ballet was our favourite cocktail. Chef Brandon Olsen has taken his craft (and the staff along with him) to new dining heights that few toronto-based restaurants can attest to. What a fantastic night.
Came to La Banane to celebrate my husband's birthday. We both enjoyed it! Everything was wonderful, will recommend to family and friends.
this is a good all around restaurant. The food was great, the ambience good, the noise level was not too high and the service was excellent! We had a lovely server who did not miss a beat when it came to getting us the second round of drinks, telling us how the food was prepared and being professionally friendly.
The food was very good. The sweetbread was very interesting with a contrasting sauce that complimented the main very nicely. My husband had the southern fried chicken and was very happy with it. Our only complaint was the seating. I found the chairs somewhat uncomfortable and needed to have 2 pillows behind me to be comfortable and my husband who is 6ft. tall, needed a pillow under hime to bring him up to the proper height at the table.
We would certainly go back to this restaurant and simply choose another area in which to sit
All in all, a good solid restaurant !
Everything was exceptional but I have to give a shout out to our server Katie, she made the evening perfect. Going back, again and again.
Great food creative presentation and a nice atmosphere.
Wow! This was the best meal we had in Toronto. The flavors were so perfect and unique in the best way possible. We absolutely loved the albacore tuna and the eurobass - preparation was beyond compare and everything paired well with great wine. We enjoyed the asparagus and broccolini as well. They complemented the main dishes with pinpoint accuracy. Nothing was overpowering and everything tasted fresh and new, like we had never truly experienced these dishes ever before until they were prepared wth the chef's ingenious artistry. We can't say enough about Olivia and the fantastic service she and her colleagues provided. She seemed to enjoy helping us craft the perfect meal. And just when I thought we had had enough - the dessert menu appeared. Again, beyond our wildest dreams delicious. I don't think you will find a better meal anywhere in the world. And thanks to Olivia I have a new appreciation for Amarro Montenegro! We can't thank you enough for making the evening very special.
Love this place
I found the place a bit noisy, maybe this is how it is but was a bit noisy. Food was tasty, however they do not serve sides with the main dish and they have to be ordered separately which considerably increases the cost of the dish and also side offered may not go with the main dish you have ordered. Would have preferred main to come with its own side. Not much choice in green vegetables. Can not recommend this restaurant to friends who look for vegetarian options and variety.
We dined at La Banane in April. The food was delicious and the service was good. The second time was this week to try the fried chicken. My husband ordered the steak au poivre. Neither was impressive. The chicken was composed mainly of a fried breading and was tasteless! My husband was not impressed with the stake au poivre - He described it as a modest sized piece of tender, flavourless meat. The broccoli side dish sat on a heavy and a too-salty cream sauce. Overall, not the best value for your money.
It was my first time at La Banane, and I took my fiance out for to celebrate his birthday. Service was excellent, the whole staff worked together seamlessly! Food was absolutely delicious - we finished off with the banana cake, which was out of this world! Overall the whole experience was great.
We went for Father’s Day. Some of the best oysters I’ve had. My parents adored the menu and the service. We also loved our cozy and yet luxurious table - like an elevated living room. Also the salted caramel ice cream was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. I highly recommend this place for wine and food on special occasions. Merci, la banane!
Great place! Food was phebomal. Overall 8.5/10 - the playing could've been a little more creative but it won't take away from the experience. The staff is also great with asking about allergies/dietary restrictions!
I was blown away with the service and quality of food. My friends and I were having a girls night out and could not have asked for a better setting. Thank you!!! Can’t wait to come back. 💕🍌
Outstanding food, service and decor. Truly great experience. Can’t wait to visit again!
Everything was wonderful - food, service, ambiance. Will d finitely go back.
Really enjoyed the meal. Had seared tuna (amazing), whole fish with hollandaise sauce (perfect), sweet breads (just ok), beet side and broccolini side (both very good). Finished with a banana cake (excellent) and salted caramel ice cream (too salty). Wine selection good and not overwhelming. My only disappointment was that I found all items were not hot by the time it got to the table. I’m a bit of a stickler re: eating food meant to be hot, hot. Nice little complimentary treat offered at the end of the meal. I would go back to try other items.
It was great
Second year in a row dining here for our anniversary and it's always great! Food is phenomenal, servers/runners are knowledgeable and the atmosphere is wonderful. Highlights of our meal were the raw marinated scallops and the Dungeness crab back gratin!
We took the seafood plateau and it was just perfect.
And the staff was very friendly. ;)
I really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere was fantastic, the service was top notch!
Excellent service and food. A bit expensive but worth it!
An excellent experience all around! The staff are courteous and knowledgeable, the restaurant has great ambiance and the food is delicious. Our cocktails were prepared with flair and tasted fantastic.
Our second time at La Banane was just as good as the firs time. The liver and onions couldn’t be better - it lived up to the memory we had of it. Great high-end restaurant that we can count on. We’ll be back!
Great food and service! Loved the fried chicken and cheesy potatoes. Raw seafood bar was amazing!! And dessert- banana cake with ice cream, very different and delicious.
Delightful French cuisine. Lovely fish dishes and perfect portions. Charming wine selections and gorgeous cheese.
Unforgettable food, service, ambiance. Put a hole in my wallet, but worth every single penny. We had a wonderful experience. We enjoyed the raw bar, sea bass en croute, fried chicken, pommes aligot, and an apple tart. Complimentary appetizer of duck fat fried pretzels was a nice touch. Our serving staff was well educated, funny, and attentive. Loved the disco soundtrack. Absotluely superb, 10/10.
