About La Banane
Beyond the yellow door, guests enter a space where the past and future mingle. Hallmarks of classic bistro style – a long marble bar, white linens and crystal stemware are mixed with contemporary art, bold colour and an eclectic soundtrack of funk, Motown and disco. Chef Brandon Olsen's cuisine features an extensive raw bar and French classics, executed in a modern style. Our wine list is also primarily French, with some Ontario selections.
We look forward to welcoming you to La Banane.

La Banane Ratings and Reviews
Excellent from start to finish. We were made to feel very special. The food was incredible as was the service. A great find!
Seafood tower was amazing. Service and atmosphere 10/10
Second time at La Banana and another wonderful experience. It's clear that everyone is passionate and loves their job. Everything start to finish was great.
Disappointed with the front service and lack of attention to birthday girl with not even a complimentary glass of bubbly or dessert. Won't bother to return or tell others to go
Poor communication and tact resulted in an overall rating of 3 versus 5. Our reservation was for a party of 4 at 6:30PM. The night had done well - great food, wine and atmosphere - until 8:45PM. At that time our waiter indicated that the table needed to be vacated for a 9:00PM reservation but he still took coffee and desert orders. Turning tables for a reservation is understandable but should be communicated as early as possible, preferably at the time a reservation is made or upon arrival at the restaurant. This never occurred. Had we been informed, we would have managed our time accordingly. At 8:50 we were asked to move to another table to accommodate a reservation. We readily obliged. But at 9:00 a gentleman from the restaurant just showed up with our coats and stood at the table. He said nothing and we asked 'is it time for us to go?'. He simply answered 'Sorry'. Poor form. It's unfortunate as the food was delightful and the staff were otherwise professional.
Fantastic experience, all service stuff including the support staff were well-versed in the menu and able to assist in recommendations. It was a full service experience, with delicious food! We will definitely be back.
A seafood tower that rivals amongst the best and the precision to the most minute detail, big thanks to everybody, for a great dinner. But seriously, that seafood tower is amazing!
Good but not great. Would have been better if the server explained menu choices. Had the table beside kitchen door so zero ambience from my perspective. Overpriced big time. Just OK all around.
La Banane was really great. The service was highly attentive but respective of the conversations happening in the group. The food was outstanding and eating at the bar was very comfortable and even preferable for 2. I would definitely recommend and plan to go back soon.
Excellent food. Every dish was excellent, decor is very soothing, and service was impeccable.
Amazing food, excelent service and staff. I have been there 3 times, the food is always perfect. the staff are always welcoming and fun. Everything is planned perfectly. Some of the most delicious food I have tasted in the city.
La Banane was recommended to us by a family member, but still was an amazing surprise. The decor is classy, yet modern; the bar is vibrant and lively, and the service is second to none. We had an amazing meal and fabulous wine pairings. The staff went the extra mile to make us feel special. Thank you La Banane. We will be back.
Finally had a chance to go to La Banane after hearing all kinds of great things about it. It lived up to all the hype. Great food (really great liver and onions - the liver is a mousse!) and great service. I miss The Saint, but it’s had been replaced by something better!
My second visit, we passed on my initial instinct to sit at the bar, which I regret
Sit at the bar & order the disco egg! Our servers were attentive and lovely, but I missed the insights and recommendations from the amazing bartender. I brought a friend who had not been before and he loved it, but I think the full La Banane experience includes sitting at the bar
Will absolutely return again, one of my favourite new spots
Always a great place for dinner! Service is stellar, professional but warm and welcoming. Food is stunning, and the wine list is varied, interesting and priced fairly. One of my favourite spots in Toronto.
First time at La Banane, and had a lovely evening. The food was interesting and tastey, the vibe was fun, the service was good. The place is a bit loud, even to hear the server ... but that was the only negative.
My absolute favourite restaurant in this city and definitely my first choice when I think about going out for dinner in Toronto. The service is beyond premium, making you feel so comfortable and welcome. Every menu item I've tried meets expectations and more. Love the seafood bar along with the amazing handcrafted beverages. The atmosphere is electric. Everyone deserves a seafood tower at La Banane.
We went there for the first time for our anniversary. The food was amazing and so was the service. The atmosphere is pretty vibrant and energetic after 8. I would definitely go there again!
Wow. What an incredible night. My girlfriend and I both work in hospitality, and we were just blown away by this place! The moment you come in from the cold you are greeted by this amazing retro-chic sort of throw back decor, that's dimly lit(perfectly) and just feels cool and classy. Bonus points for being greeted warmly, and immediately! We were a half hour early for our reservation, and unexpectedly, they had a table for us, the host was very welcoming.
The moment we sat down we felt "wowed" by the great ambience, and the pleasant service staff. We hadn't even ordered anything yet!
The wine list? Well put together, and reasonably priced, which is refreshing.
The menu? Out of this world. All I can say is that they do something to butter that can only be described as magic, because I have never tasted anything so good in my entire life. Absolutely outstanding presentation, and flavours. Somebody in that kitchen still loves what they do, and it really shows.
The food and wine were brilliant, but a special thanks is owed to our server, Robert. This man is a master of his craft. The moment I was ready to try another wine, I looked to my left and a wine list was being handed to me.
Courteous, and efficient, we were blown away by how he guided us through the experience, without upselling us. Timing of everything was ON POINT. Perfect. He was informative, yet not intrusive. His other tables were all getting the same calibre of service as well, which was impressive to watch. Thanks Robert!
In short, La Banane is easily the best restaurant in the city right now. Make a reservation and treat yourself and the one(s) you love. You will not be disappointed.
Classic french food meets Ontario does California cuisine energy, accessible and delicious. Our waiter was the bestest and she helped guide our adventure through the menu. Defs the most informed unprentiocious genuine server torontos yet to dish us. Surprisingly generous portions, we all would love to return.
Really disappointed on the service, the second round of food took forever and the waitress and hostess (yeap, we had to ask 2 diff people for our food) told us that the restaurant was busy so we should expect longer wait ...
1) No “sorry for the inconvenience”
2) they offered us “more bread” while we waited ( we already had 2 rounds of bread already)
For $80/ person I think they can do way better job with service
Had a great time celebrating my birthday here! Had a reservation so we were seated quickly. Food was outstanding (get the euro-bass en croute!) and service was excellent. Only downside was being sat in the back right by the kitchen - would much rather be part of the action near the bar!
Oysters terrific. Scallops way over peppered. Frogs legs over fried. Entrees of duck, eurobass and chicken sweetbreads were excellent.
Amazing meal and outstanding service! Bar seating was perfect for a date. Raw bar delicious and recommend the Ziggy Stardust Disco Egg.
Service was outstanding, food was exquisite. The omelette was melt in your mouth good, definitely the best, I’ve ever had in this city. Oysters were plump, juicy and fresh - wonderful. Had the steak which was cooked to perfection. It was an “EXPERIENCE” eating at La Banane- wonderful. Definitely in the top 10 in the city!
Wonderful service and food. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and food in general. Mostly classic French cuisine. Raw bar a must.
Great food and the staff is so pleasant and courteous and friendly.
The sea bass, liver and onions and the crab are amazing!!!!!
Great oysters and seafoods but the rest of the menu the plates are too salted. Ans expensive!
A very good meal. Our group of 4 ordered a bunch of different starters and mains and sides, and the disco egg for dessert. Everything was great. I thought the disco egg was perfect for 4 people to split. Look forward to going back. Restaurant was not super quiet, but certainly able to have a conversation without yelling....
Fantastic food, wine and service. It exceeded our expectations. Thank you!
Very enjoyable dinner. Expensive but worth the experience. Highly recommend the Foie Gras!
Really enjoyed this place. The food was inventive and great tasting. The inside was cozy and the service attentive. I woul definitely come back the next time I am in town.
Restaurant was fine. Food was good, but portion sizes were too small. Good service - ok atmosphere. Decent, but wouldn’t rush back.
The menu is truly original, the food very well prepared, the service truly outstanding. Pricey but a really unique dining experience well worth the cost for special occasions.
I went for my birthday dinner and it was a disappointment. The food was mostly OK with a few missteps. Some dishes were overly salted and others were just mediocre. The problem is that the prices are super high and the food just doesn’t justify the insane price tag. Our server was lovely and attentive and charming. Even though it’s primarily a seafood restaurant, the best dishes were the aligot and the duck. I love fish and seafood, I just didn’t care for the flavor combinations and preparations. I won’t be going back.
We have been for dinner and number of times and always found it very enjoyable. The food is excellent as is the service and the noise level is suitable for years that are not too young!
The menu however is somewhat limited so it would be difficult to go more than a few times each year without feeling confined
This was my second time and I enjoyed it as much as the first. The menu has many small plates which I enjoy more than a main course. The staff was exceptionally friendly and the service was great.
Great food and interior is beautiful. Wine list is exquisite. Our hostess could not smile the whole time she served us. At the end she forgot to include our bottle of wine in the bill and when we mentioned she just brought a new bill and said thank you. Will go again in hopes of being served by someone else.
