La Cantina’s menu, headed up by chef Jonathan Jimenez, is centerd around upscale twists on many classics: tostadas (deep-fried tortillas topped with vegetables, meat, and other goods), hard and soft shell tacos of course, 13 kinds to be exact. Among other noteworthy dishes, Rivera is excited to be serving tacos with octopus and bacon, brisket tacos, and pork shank.

La Cantina is also serving a range of innovative cocktails. There are awesome margarita and mezcal cocktails of course.

We are located in downtown Montreal, beside undergrown malls (cour mont-royal et centre eaton), in between Concordia and McGill universities, 2 blocks from the bell center (go habs!)

We have a back room that has been booked for weddings, office parties, baby showers, bachelorette parties, birthday parties, etc. It fits up to 50 people (sitting down). Everything has been customed made and imported from Mexico: chairs, tables, table runners, lamps, wall paper, benches, tiles, stone, bricks etc. Clients have brought their own pinatas, djs, photobooths etc. We have made special packages and gotten some of our clients specific wines they want for their event. I am sure we can make your dream event come true.

Very nice restaurant (don't be fooled by the few tables you can see from outside, there is a much bigger room at the back. Very friendly service, really good food, nice atmosphere. And the old Mexican crooner playing on the speakers was a nice touch.

We happened to come cross this very last minute when we were looking up somewhere to go near an event on Sherbrooke St. We are so pleased that we came across it. Incredibly delicious food. Perfect portions. Wonderful service. It would suit most budgets. Just based on the location, we expected to pay more. We will definitely be back.

This place is a gem !!! It is a MUST! Amazing food, very friendly staff, the ambiance of the restaurant will take you to the heart of Oaxaca within the first bite of your taco, and did I mention amazing, out of this world, mouthwatering foood! The Arrachera tacos and the chicken quesadilla are a must to order! Big thank you to the chef and its staff for making such a beautiful culinary artsy restaurant in the heart of our beloved Montreal! Also, do not skip dessert! Chocolate churros with a cinnamon twist 😍😍😍😍 I don’t usually write reviews but this place is SO worth it.

La Cantina is our new favorite Mexican restaurant. Everything was delicious: the chicken and chorizo quesadillas, and the brisket and fried fish tacos. The fish tacos were particularly tasty. There is an excellent selection of mezcal-based cocktails, and the spicy margaritas were wonderful. The décor is nice and simple, and the service was friendly and efficient. We will go back.

Overall, excellent supper, would definitely return, had the Al Pastor tacos which were excellent, the wife had the fried fish tacos which I thought were oily but my wife adored them, so depending on your taste, I would surely retour and don’t forget the churros which are very very good !

This was the first time visiting La Cantina. The ambience was very lively when we walked in. The service was great. The food was good. We had the hot bean dip and it was fabulous. It was followed by the pulled chicken and brisket tacos. They were good but a tad dry. There was an abundance of food and we ended up taking some to go. The washrooms were clean and bright. Overall, I would recommend La Cantina to friends as a casual and different dining experience.

The vibe is nice and the margaritas are good. I wasn’t impressed with the salsa, sauces, or dessert. The server was nice but slow. Tacos are pretty good. The value is there but you’re definitely sacrificing quality.
