About
In the heart of Little Italy, we opened our very first “Westside” La Carnita. This location includes a small but sunny patio, spots to people-watch from, and comfortable booths for groups. Though Little Italy is home to many great spots, from here La Carnita was able to quickly become a Toronto staple. By offering an irresistible menu of delicious tacos, tostadas, and sharing plates, while creating a vibrant atmosphere, Westside has remained the place to be for the past seven years.
I like spice but the heat overpowered the taste. I was disappointed because the food used to be great.
The food and vibes are good. However, for the place where people suppose to socialize the music is too loud.
Too heavy on the condiments masking flavours and causing tacos to break.
Too salty and cod taco was under cooked
Food was excellent. A bit pricey considering it was tacos but it was delicious. Our server was attentive and friendly. I’d def go back.
First time. Good experience. We will return. Order not tacos.
great food for casual night eats. service top notch especially our server dealing with a huge group of guys. noisy atmosphere not a negative just pointing out incase your looking for something more calm.
TIP: If your with a group agree on maybe ordering the same thing with different rounds cuz it’s hard to keep track of who ordered what. As it’s up to you to figure that out once the tray is dropped.
Menu a bit dated pretty much same thing as when i went a long time ago.
Overall, great!
Went early on a Saturday night.
Cod taco was amazing. Shrimp taco waaaaaaay to spicy.
Music too loud.
Service very good.
Cod tacos are great but we were charged cake cutting fee PER SLICE without any notice. We could have cut it our selves. They also do not do split bills which also sucks!
Service was amazing and quick. Food and drinks were great. Overall outstanding experience. Will definitely go back :)
Fantastic food, marguerites and service - would highly recommend!
the food was very very good (i would recommend the tuna and guac taco and the nachos to start). great ambiance and nice servers. only complained about La Carnita is the lack of options and overpriced deserts. but otherwise amazing and would highly recommend!!!
The food is really good and well-priced. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Friday nights are very loud so it was difficult to hold conversations with our group but we'd go back for sure.
Great vibe, great food, and great service. Thank you.
Very little service at this location.
Great experience
The Avocado fries and shrimp tacos were worth the tight tables and horrible bathrooms lol
Rob is the bessssssssssssssszsssssst!
Very nice bar with fine Mexican food
The staff are amazing, and the food is excellent. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to have an amazing time on a date or with friends!
Very good Mexican food and fast service. Very friendly atmosphere!
Overall I don’t think I’ll be coming back. Even though we had a reservation it was quite a wait to be seated and we were not offered any apology or acknowledgement for this. We have eaten at many La Carnita restaurants throughout the city, the food at this location was unnecessarily spicy. The service continued to be quite lacklustre throughout the rest of our meal.
Good restaurant for Mexican cuisine. Reasonable pricing. Ambience is more for a younger crowd as we found it a bit loud (over 50 ).
I would recommend one of the other locations I have been to but not college street. We stood in the restaurant for 12 minutes before anyone even talked to us. There were definitely employees there but not one person smiled or even said hello. Tacos were great but our corn was extremely burnt and dry.
First visit was great this being our 2nd was very dissapointing. The menu got smaller the food was hard and overcooked. Would like to give it another try but also wish there tacos were authentic and corn based just like Mexico.
To be honest, it was okay. Not fantastic, but good. One thing that shocked us was our nachos appetizer. We were surprised that a place like this would serve nachos with what can be best described as gas station cheese sauce. That was pretty bad and ruined what could have been good nachos. Not saying we’d never go back, but I am saying that we would never order the nachos again!
Everything was great except the low tables were hard to get my knees under.
Great ambiance. Great food. Good service. Our dessert didn't arrive after 15 minutes; the server came to apologize ... and when she finally delivered the dessert five minutes later, she said, "apologies again, we will not be charging you for dessert." We thought that was a very nice touch. We would definitely go again.
Service was very slow. Server took 20 minutes to greet us. He clearly had too many tables because he was running around like crazy. When he finally came over there was no apology for taking so long he just wanted to get our orders down quick and go to the next table. The food was great but the service was very poor.
It seemed understaffed for the amount of people there, but our waiter was quite helpful
Took until my 3rd beer order to get something that wasn't flat, warm or out of stock. They were able to do individual bills which was nice for a party of 5.
I made a lunch reservation for myself and two friends. They had only limited time, due to having to get back to work so I called that morning to make sure they were open for lunch and was told yes.
We arrived and the hostess told us they could only serve drinks because several staff did not show up.
We then had to find another restaurant in a hurry.
They could have called me to tell me. They had my number!
Good food as far as Mexican tacos go
Noise level too high for any type of conversation
For that reason won’t return
Tacos were ready good. But guacamole was just OK. Try avoid ordering their appetizers... we came for their Tuesday special but when we arrived (7:30pm) we were told it’s sold out. Kinda ridiculous that they keep doing this every Tuesday.
This place is FAR too loud. It is ridiculous. I like the food a lot but I will not be going back unless I’m eating alone and have earplugs with me. Service was slow but the staff we quite pleasant.
Took a long time to get drink orders or even water but besides that the food is amazing.
La Carnita is fun and has a laid back atmoshpere. The service at College St is very good. The food is consistent and comes out fast. Always enjoy their cocktail list. "Who Shot YA" is a delicious cocktail.
We were looking for a more sophisticated experience. Too loud and too many tattoos.
Love la carnita. Just disappointed at how much they were sold out of on the menu. Otherwise it’s our fav place
Delicious tacos. Couldn’t pick a bad one if you tried! Corn was outstanding as well. Music was very loud though (and not my particular taste) but we were seated under the speaker - perhaps it is not as loud elsewhere. Service was great. Will definitely visit again.
Todo rico, lo único malo es que las tortillas estaban frías.
