Very energetic (loud) dining experience with small tacos imdividually priced. We were waited on by a half dozen servers (no consistency). Felt like we were dining in a club - certainly fine for some but just not our thing.
The food was not all that great and very pricey.
Way to loud - service was slow
The food was incredible, and would have given 5 stars if not for the service. The server did not return to check on us after food was delivered and our drinks sat empty for long periods of time. He only returned to ask us if we wanted another beer once. In truth, if he had kept coming, our bills would have been much higher.
The food was great and exactly what we were looking for but service was lacking. Drinks were ordered initially and only 2 of the 3 drinks ordered arrived. Appetizers were ordered as well as main courses but all of the items arrived at once meaning the guac and chips were eatin while the mains were cooling off. Food arrived before the missing drink arrived. Server wasn't overly helpful when asked what was recommended and overall it just felt like we were rushed in and rushed out. If you want good tacos and don't care about the experience....this is your spot.
The food was delish and service great. There are 3 noise issues though: too loud; there seems to be separate systems on the 2 floors so the music is not only loud but competitive; and the worst, the staff literally throw the dishes in the bins causing loud smashing crockery noise in a regular basis.
Really annoying and takes away from an otherwise good restaurant
Music so loud that no one seemed to notice the smoke alarm going off or bother to let us know it was a false alarm. Food tasty but way overpriced for portions. Warm beer. Grumpy server texting while we were paying our bill.
I went to La Carnita with a group of 8 people, many of who have been to the restaurant before. We all found the tacos to be spicier than we remembered - even those of us who like spice found it to be a bit much sometimes. The tacos were delivered 'family style' which can be tough when different people order different kinds in such a big group. Nonetheless, the food was good & we all really enjoyed our cocktails.
Love the Cod tacos
Variety of food choices for everyone
Close to Princess of Wales and the theatre district
Great ambiance and very hip servers. Always a fun time and the margaritas are awesome.
Great experience. A real find in the these district. 3 Course lunchtime special was wonderful.
Too loud. Poor service.
Fun spot for after work or before a game. Solid tacos, good beer and fun apps. The margs are just ok. I lived crispy chicken and cauliflower. Didn’t love the cod....too mushy. The room and soundtrack are great. You can do a LOT worse in this ‘hood. Enjoy!
The food was very tasty and the ambiance was great! I enjoy eating there with family and friends
Too loud. Too busy. Too spicy. Not enough options to choose from. Really killed the fun of the evening by coming here for dinner cuz we couldn't talk to each other. And I could barely eat the tacos cuz even the "non-spicy" ones were way to hot for me. The waitress clearly did not know the menu or understand what a customer means when they request no spice. Disappointing as I had high hopes. Kitchen also strangely refused to cut our street corn in half. Why be so difficult? Not enjoyable. Oh and husband was given the wrong beer even. Sloppy. Cleanliness bad.
This was an excellent stop for dinner on Sunday night. The drinks were really good (had the Who Shot 'Ya, a house favorite, and the Pineapple Express). The bartender was very attentive and gave some great ordering tips. I had the mushroom tostada, the crispy cotija taco, and the tuna ceviche tostada. Everything was excellent and 3 items was a perfect sized order. I can't wait to come back here on my next business trip!
The service was terrible
Too loud for my liking
Tasty tacos, ambience is very energetic, quite loud. The tables are all very close together so there is lots of bumping.
This is a good place for friends to get together. Otherwise, for other occasions, it may not be suitable. Hard to hear conversation.
The service was really slow and the food is average. Great atmosphere and cool decor.
The waiter was excellent, but the seating was clunky and the menu is quite limited. We received our food in a weird order, then some tacos were forgotten.
Special occasion did not feel special at all. They were quite busy so hard to get attention from staff members.
Cool place. Unique environment. Great food.
the only thing good is the ambience
Delicious, savory food with a great drink selection in a fun and friendly atmosphere!
My fiance and I were celebrating our 6 year anniversary. La Carnita is always our go to for Mexican food! It never disappoints!
Great food and great staff at this location!
This is definitely a bar for the younger crowd with loud music and a “bar style” menu featuring different types of tacos. Tacos were good, just not what I expected for true Mexican. It’s more a mexican influenced type vibes.
Food was good and prices are reasonable for a downtown location but music was very loud and sound system is poor so I wouldn’t recommend a first date as hard to talk but great for groups
We came here for Canada Day! Table for 7 was a huge booth, perfect for us since we were 4 adults and three loud kids! Kids menu is small but met our needs; the menu is mouthwatering. I had the mushroom tostado and mango/Avo salad. Topped it off with red sangria! Perfect.
Food is ok. Like the rustic look of the restaurant but not a place where you can sit and talk. Music is too loud.
Nice Mexican food with a twist... Mexican Beers... not a large menu but good- look at the menu on line. The decor is minimalist - it's a preserved facade of an old building that was moved off site and back on site after the tower behind it was built. The food is as good as La Carnita on College St. Make reservations in advance.
The food was all wonderful! We all said we wished that we could have eaten more. The service was ok. They have stairs inside and our group of 10 was reserved at a table up top. One of our friends couldn't do the stairs, so our group had to be split up. We seemed to have more than one server and were often waiting for each person to come back. It took a while to get dessert, drink refills and the bill. The music was like street rap, so that was funny for the place. We all had headaches by the end but it was a great night overall. They added 18% tip to our bill of 6 people and we didn't think the service was worthy of that extra top up but the food really made up for it. We would definitely go back another time.
Friends from Portland, Oregon enjoyed it! Definitely a restaurant landmark for Toronto. Also conveniently located beside dessert, Sweet Jesus. The value is okay. Full ratings if the food was a tad bit less expensive.
Food was great as usual. Music was kinda loud but that's normal for this location no biggie. AC was super high it was freezing people were freezing apparently there was something wrong with it. But food was on point as usual
The food and the service were good. The music was too loud. It was hard to carry a conversation.
We had an amazing table! Our waitress was awesome!! Food is delish
Food was excellent and brought out within a fast amount of time. Will definitely return :)
Space was great. Our server was super helpful with the menu. The food was damn good. Looking forward to our next visit there.
Our table on the main floor had a water leak above it. We were moved upstairs. Zero air conditioning and pretty much got forgotten about by the server. They are normally fast to serve but this lunch took far too long.
