The only positive thing I can say was the hostess who’s very helpful in getting table ready for us.
This was the first time eating at La Carnita on John Street. The food was amazing. The service was incredible as well. Will definitely be going back.
Great place to eat with even better vibes ! Would highly recommend this place to go and eat with friends family or new people your meeting!
Taco heaven . Tasty tacos, great cocktails. Love being able to order one taco at a time.
Requested upstairs seating. Was told no one was being seated upstairs. Kept seeing different parties coming up and down the stairs.
Server was rude. Also waited half an hour just to get the bill and pay
A bit louder than usual, but that's mostly due to NYE attendees starting the fun early. Always great food, smiling service and affordable prices, meaning I'll come back again, and again, and again!
Great food, service was acceptable, but overall a great place to celebrate the holiday season! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for something a little more adventurous. The tacos we had were excellent. Some of the best I've had in the city. The Who Shot Me? and Margarita were also excellent. Only complaint would be the speed of service, but on a busy Friday night during the holidays, I can totally understand why.
Fun spot. Ate lunch pre theatre. Food was delicious and great service. Only con was music was a little loud with explicit language (especially for lunch time, we were dining with our 3 children). That being said, would still recommend going. Not cheap though, Lunch for the 5 of us was $130
Food was cold. It came out within a minute of ordering which implies it wasn’t fresh but rather reheated. Service was atrocious. I still had food on my plate as they were trying to take it away. The server hovered until the last bite was in my mouth and promptly took my plate (as the food went into my mouth). We had to get our own utensils and clearing the table was more urgent than allowing us to collect our coats and bags.
This was an ideal venue and meal for the whole family. We all love Mexican food and the teens also appreciated the trendy atmosphere. John St location was perfect for us. The food was superlative, from apps to dessert. Service was pleasant and mostly prompt. Seating was comfortable and decor was interesting without overwhelming the food. Definitely recommended and we will be returning for sure.
Quick bite before a Leaf game.
La carnita used to be my favorite restaurant until i did a large party reso and then my view of the restaurant completley changed. La carnita is not suited for large party events. They do not offer separate bills and would like each person to calculate their bill and put partial paymenta towards the final bill. The food comes scattered so its up to the customer to remember what they ordered rather then the server. It takes very long for the food to cook and when it did come it was cold and bland.
The service was okay but the manager in the beginning was very very rude and stern with regulations it was after my sister had a chat with her in regards to ther service we recieved that she had a change of heart. Before that we wouldnt catch her even coming to our table to check up on us since she was frequently chatting with her friends often. Over all i would never ever do a large party at la carnita again.
Really tasty food and a good venue for a day to day meal out 😊
Amazing ambiance and vibe, great for a cocktail or two. The tacos were ok, but not as good as some other taco restaurants. Especially considering the price.
Too dark, too loud, food was "meh", toilet was a mess.....and NO COFFEE? Yikes.....
Was hoping to eat authentic Mexican...
But just looking around I could see who your audience is....and that is not me.
The food was amazing!! The music was a little loud; combined with conversations in a ‘live’ room made it difficult to hear the servers. The prix fix menu was perfect for our team lunch.
Loved the food. Service was great. Mexican street corn was amazzzzing
Music playlist was on point but bit too loud. Also there should be a door to block the cold air from outside - people left it open for long periods and it got very cold
Wwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too loud. Lots of people were having a good time, but if you want to have a conversation with the person you are with sir riiiiiiight next to you:). Notwithstanding that the food was awesome and our server was AWESOME.
Food was substandard, tacos were tasteless. Mediocre at best
It was my first time and was superb! Food, service, vibes all together were very enjoyable!
Great food and great service, always.
Great food our server was pushy trying to finish us quickly and the place wasn't packed
Went here for my birthday dinner! Had a great time. The food was absolutely delicious. 10/10 recommend.
The food and drinks were great, but unfortunately the service needed a lot of work
Food was amazing, would definitely recommend the Barbacoa ribs. It's loud and energetic. Lights are very dim, reading the menu may be difficult for some. Server was not very attentive even though it wasn't all that busy on this past Wednesday, but average service overall.
Very good Mexican food. Service was also very good. The only thing that bothered me was the terrible hip hop /rap music. Very annoying.
The food was outstanding. I had the scorpion wings and the chorizo tacos but also heard amazing things about the fish and the beef tacos. Great guac and chips as well. We had pitchers of the tastiest margaritas ever. The only compliant is that it was too dark and the music was incredibly loud. I sound like an old man but we legit needed the flashlights on our phones to see. We were upstairs and it seemed like the music for the whole place was coming from the speakers there. Zero issues with the food and the service and will definitely be back but will be going during daylight hours lol.
We had to wait 25 minutes for our table - too long for a reservation. Food okay, generally good but churros were stale.
The food was alright, a bit expensive considering the portion size. The drinks were good but again, overpriced. The drinks were expected to be expensive but $5 for one little taco is just too much to me. The drink names are creative and they taste fairly good. Service was great and the place itself is cool, Sweet Jesus is attached to it though, so that's a plus! Overall, it's relatively mediocre and non-authentic but I will probably give it another shot someday.
We were excited to dine at La Carnita, especially for the new menu, and made a reservation well in advance. However, we immediately left upon sitting down because the noise level was so unbearably loud. We were unable to hear one another and a highlight of our dinners is having good conversation in addition to the food.
I would highly recommend La Carnita lowers their music level as it will deter people from dining there. I will reconsider coming back just for drinks but will likely try other options first because of this experience.
Everything was amazing from start to finish!
Good location dt Toronto. Great music. Best margarita ever. Would go again.
Great food! Loved the beef skewer! I would recommend them offering other meat varieties for this option as I think it would be an easy sell. The tacos are always great, but rather pricy compared to the market. I would definitely recommend La Carnita, but please introduce taco Tuesday for all tacos not just chorizo!
This was the second time we had dinner at La Carnitas. The food is absolutely delicious! We had multiples of each taco on the menu and they were all delicious.
Churros were fantastic for dessert!
Would go again in a heartbeat!
Loved it...except for the music 🎶 and while the music may be trendy- it was vulgar! No age needs to hear that!
Although our order came out wrong, the wait staff ensured went out of their way to make it right and were very accommodating.
Amazing dinner for my girlfriends birthday celebration, I’ve asked in advance for a good seating area and once we got seated my girlfriend told me that this is a good seating area. Props to whoever decided on the table thank you very much
Food was great but service was horrible because of one particular server. Proceeded to spill food all over me and did not bother to apologize or check up on me
