Enjoyed the food very much and the waitstaff was very friendly and helpful in choosing a wine. I had the lamb shank and couldn't have been happier! The portion size was large. My husband had the coquilles St Jacque and that was 6 large scallops. The space is small so I recommend reservations.
La Fable serves classic French cuisine a la Julia Child. The dishes we had, boeuf bourguignon and moules frites, were executed well (as was the crepe appetizer and chocolate mousse dessert). The ambience is nice (white tablecloth). The service was professional.
I thought that the menu had limited meal options and pricey
Wonderful food and entertainment at the bar with Russ and Matthew.
Great meal and so quaint inside! It was an all around hit. Will definitely be back.
Escargot wasn’t quite as good as previous times. Chocolate Moose was excellent as was the Cream of Asparagus Soup. The staff is great very attentive and friendly. Will return.
La Fable was excellent. There was plenty of bead available to soak up the garlic butter from the escargot. The steak was excellent and cooked perfectly for each of the 4 of us. The lamb shank was also delicious. Portions were more than adequate. The best part was the restaurant even had umbrellas for us to borrow as there was a torrential downpour as we were leaving!
A local home run
A nice find on a back street in Rehoboth Beach. The apps of foie gras and Onion soup led to great entrees of trout amandine and beef bourgione over mashed potatoes. The food was right on and the staff extremely attentive to all the tables. Thoroughly enjoyed the dinner. Would highly recommend.
As always, this place is a winner. We (5 of us) were celebrating a friend's birthday. In our group, the birthday person picks the place. We were not disappointed that she picked this place. We all had different dishes which everyone raved about. Their bread is to die for also. I had the lamb shank and it was tender, moist and delicious. Friends had escargot, the crepe and the fois gras as appetizers. Everything loved the food.
Meghan also brought out the Birthday crown which was a holdover from Bramble and Brine and it provided us with another fun memory at her restaurant then.
You will love this charming bistro.
Our favorite restaurant for special occasions -- exceptional food served with grace and care in a charming and elegant atmosphere.
First time at La Fable. Fabulous! Authentic French food in a casually elegant setting. Great food and service by our server - Dennis. Can't wait to return.
The kitchen delay was very long.
Always a good time at Fable. We hadn't been in a few months. I brought 3 friends who had never been to Fable before, they all loved it. I had the lamb shank, fantastic...so tender. They all had the Fluke special...all loved it...I spoke with the chef who said they were going to make the Fluke a regular dish...yeah ! We then moved over to the bar area for a fun sing a long night with Matt and the bartender...such a memorable evening! Love this place ~!
This was our first visit and we will definitely be back. The atmosphere was lovely, the food was excellent as was the service. Servers were friendly and helpful.
I had the crepe appetizer and my husband had the onion soup--both were very tasty. He had the boeuf bourguignon and I had the trout. Again, both delicious. The bread was warm and wonderful. We did not have dessert as there were only three choices--I was hoping for a wonderful lemon (or other fruit) tart and there was none. Not having dessert did not detract in the least from a very fine experience.
The food was excellent. My husband and I dined on escargot (every bit of the sauce was sopped up with our bread), duck, steak au poivre and chocolate mousse. The entrees could not have been better and were cooked exactly to our specifications (medium rare) - fork tender. The house wine was a good value. We dined early in the evening so it was quiet but I can see that if all tables were occupied, it may feel somewhat crowded and not conducive to having a private conversation. It was not inexpensive so I would reserve this for a special occasion. Service was great and we will return!
We had a party of four for a duo birthday celebration and we could hardly hear one another over the very loud noise level here. For the price I would have thought people would have been more considerate but I guess I’m just used to Paris manners. I would would however recommend this restaurant for the food but go early before everyone gets too drunk.
Wonderful food and service!!!
As always very well done--but this time a shortfall.
cheese course was fine, mains were OK with one rather strong exception. Wine was lovely. Good service.
Shortfall was the over salting of scallops. Verified it was the sauce (no) and the scallops (yes). This was confirmed with another person at the table who tasted and concurred, the scallops were coated in salt. Rather a surprise, normally their food is expertly seasoned.
Not sure if there is someone new in the kitchen (their new location just opened) so could be lack of experience.
We've been here numerous times, and it's always delicious;
Great French food!
Lovely dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Rehoboth Beach. Food is authentic French bistro, everything so wonderful! When we know we will be staying in Rehoboth, we make reservations right away to ensure seats! We love the French decor in the dining room and also in the bar area. Megan is a delightful proprietor, always perfecting!
My post marathon dinner. Always excellent
Third time a charm. We returned to Fable because we like it, and the third time was the best meal yet. Both of had the lamb shank and it melted in our mouth. Wine list should have vintages listed, though.
Food and service ----EXCELLENT! Tables for 2 are much too close. Noise level is quite high---but not unbearable.
Awesome food, cocktails and service. Nice place for great food amor a special occasion.
Excellent food and service. Table arrangement is tight and doesn’t allow for much privacy in conversation. But still, overall, a good experience and I’ll be back.
This was a disappointing visit. Two members of our party of 3 ordered the beef bouriginon, which was excellent as usual and highly recommended. The third member ordered the trout almondine. The first dish that was bought to the table was very undercooked with raw fish in the center. The wait staff immediately took the dish back. The second attempt was cooked properly and tasted very good, but there were many small bones in the fish (pin bones) that made the dish inedible. I'm not sure if the fault belongs with the chef or the fish monger who sold them the trout to ensure the bones were removed. We noted that a diner at the next table had the same dish and there seemed to be no bones. So, maybe we were unlucky. To the credit of the restaurant, the wait staff noticed the dish was not finished and asked if there was a problem. When informed of the bones, they immediately offered to removed the dish from the check, which is what they should have done, but does not always happen. The staff were very friendly and apologetic. We will definitely return, but we will be gun-shy about order the trout again.
Excellent food, service and ambience. No way to bring handicapped in, though.
Great as usual!
Excellent and authentic French food! The service is impeccable, the cocktails are yummy and the food is delicious. This was our second visit and both were ideal. You cannot go wrong with La Fable! We will most definitely be back.
FANTASTIC AGAIN. Can’t wait for Megan to open her steak restaurant.
Food was excellent! It is a small restaurant. The bench seats need cushions, they were hard. We will go back.
Service was exceptional as was the food. A wonderful restaurant.
We’ve eaten here a few times and think this is one of the best restaurants RB has to offer. I always have the pate appetizer and love it! For dinner we had the chicken cordon Bleu and the special duck a l’orange Both delicious. Service is always perfect! A little pricey but worth it. We’ll be back.
This was the second time I came to La Fable, both for a special occasion. The food was delicious, the waitress and entire staff were all nice and friendly, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I would highly recommend and plan to go back again soon!
Was very excited for a delicious French meal so close to home. The liver mousse was absolutely perfect and the crème brûlée was skillfully executed. The main course left us a bit disappointed - portions were excessive, overly heavy with sauces and lacked subtlety. That being said, we are likely to come back, sit at the bar, enjoy a good bottle of Entre-Deux-Mers and stick to the small plates.
We loved it!
Excellent service, great food, mediocre wine selection. Last time we were there we were able to BYOB this time we were told we couldn’t.
