   Went there for Mother's Day, waited over an hour after ordering only to find out our order had still not even been placed. I was hoping to give my mother something special for what should have been HER day. She insisted I not take her anywhere else. Instead, we ended up with a drive through dinner on the way home.

   Service is disappointing. It was challenging to get anything from our server - from placing order to getting our bill. After several attempts asking our server and manager to bring me the bill, I still didn't see the bill 15 minutes later. I had to walk to the front desk to give them a clear intention that I want to pay for the meal. Ordered several dishes. Some are decent but anything with tomato paste are salty. Even the tomato paste on kids meal pizza are high on the sodium scale :(

   I've eaten at La Grotta several times, with a variety of groups. The service and food are excellent; it's a pleasure to spend time there with friends and family.

   Great location with a welcoming atmosphere. While the prices are a bit on the higher side, the service was solid throughout. I was pleasantly surprised to find a cider on the menu—especially at an Italian spot—and it was great. Looking forward to coming back this summer to enjoy the patio!

   This was a very disappointing meal. Initially we booked for dinner but after finding dirty glassware and cutlery and seeing we were the only people in the restaurant on a busy Thursday night we knew we had made a mistake. We ordered 2 glasses of wine and 2 appetizers to share ; Caprese Salad and Calamari frite (fried). The Caprese had tasteless tomatoes and pieces of mozzarella that were no larger than a quarter in diameter. The calamari that was brought out was grilled not fried. When we said it was not what we ordered he told us it was better for us than fried food. He came to the table two more times continuously telling us the grilled calamari was better for us. It was a very odd dining experience - the one plus was the large pour on 6oz glasses of wine.

   A charming Italian restaurant on Main Street in Unionville. Many vegetarian choices, and a friendly owner/host. Nice ambience, tasty food and reasonable prices. A very nice experience.

   We were a group of 3 people .The restaurant was dark and in the basement .The waitress came to take our order and the appetizer didn’t come till have an hour later .We ordered fried calamari that looked really sad .It came with ketchup !! Then the main course came half an hour after the appetizer . My husband got the salmon with vegetables .It was ok .I got chicken Parmesan and vegetables .I had to look with a magnifying glass to find the sad looking vegetables on my plate .My son ordered a pizza .The crust looked undone and taste was bland .He didn’t finish . Then after we were done we had to wait another 20 mins for the check to arrive which was handwritten 🤔They were charging $5.50 to use credit card 😵‍💫It took 3 tries after the card payment went through .The waiter was blaming it on bad internet service from bell .All in all we didn’t have a very good experience.I will not return ,nor will I recommend this restaurant

   Booked this for sentimental reasons but the food is not worth the pricing anymore - sorry but in these times you gotta be choosy about where you spend your dining dollars….

   I visited La Grotta on Main for the first time for Valentine’s Day and had an amazing experience!The service was impeccable, the food and portions were perfect, in particular the Chilean sea bass and grilled calamari were excellent. Sebastian took great care of us and made sure we both had a memorable evening. Hands down the best Italian restaurant in Markham, and the old school Italian decor and ambience will leave you longing for a trip to Italy.

    We had a truly remarkable dining experience at La Grotta. We specifically loved the ambiance and Italian food is always a good idea when celebrating a special milestone.
