Chef Carlos grew up in Mexico City in a food culture as diverse and unique as any in the world. After leaving Mexico when he was 19, he spent many years working in kitchens across the US and discovering his passion for creating food that everyone can enjoy.
Hard work and dedication through his training at La Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Institute landed him a highly coveted gig at a Michelin-starred restaurant in California before he finally made his way to Canada.
In Edmonton, Chef Carlos and his business partner - Janette, started the Casa12Doce food truck. Set up for many years, Casa12Doce became not only a staple of the food truck scene but also of the community.
The delicious, authentic food created a following so loyal that when Chef Carlos and Janette decided to open a restaurant in 2016, it did not take long for the place to fill up regularly.

Great service and authentic, tasty Mexican food. The barbacoa tacos melted in your mouth. There was live music as well which made the ambiance very nice.

Sherwood Park is really lucky to have access to the authentic Mexican food. I also had a coconut lime margarita that had exceptional flavour without too much sweetness . Also really liked the decor 10/10

The food was really good. It took a little bit of time, but the food was absolutely worth the wait, and so were the churros. Great atmosphere and wonderful service!

As always La Patrona never disappoints! We went to celebrate two birthdays. The food was excellent. I had the tortilla soup with the beautiful rich broth I love. And the pescado tacos with refried beans. The fish was cooked perfectly for the tacos and I love their hot sauce. The tacos as so artfully put together you don’t want to eat them! I do wish they will give more of their in house made refried beans though! Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. This was the first time our friends had visited and they plan to return again! I’m happy they loved the spot as much as we do.

Food was very good. Our seating was rushed and we were reminded 3 times throughout the 530 reso dinner that there is another party that needed the table at 715. 2 of the party were seated at 530 and ordered beverages and the other 2 arrived at 5:40 (it was also mentioned to us during the rush that we started late) I get turning the tables in an evening but shouldn’t be at the expense of a guests experience. The $280 meal was good but rushed through at all interaction definitely took away for sure. We chose this local restaurant for my moms 75th birthday. I don’t believe the booking stated the table was only from 5:30-7:15 max?

What a delightful experience! A birthday treat for my niece, we started with cocktail of the day - peach colada - totally refreshing! Then tacos, 1 Pescado, the other Chorrico, handmade with all fresh ingredients. The Pescado was the winner! No room for dessert, but our server surprised the birthday girl with deliciously warm churros sprinkled with cinnamon, sugar, salt and whipped cream on the side. All in all, perfect - the meal, the service and the energy. Thank you La Patrona!

What a jewel! The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. I had the special Surf 'n Turf tacos: they had plenty of beef and big fat shrimp. Everything was fresh and so tasty. I will be back!

My husband I went to La Patrona for a birthday dinner. We will definitely return to try more dishes. We had the taco platter; a choice of three types of tacos. We had the brisket, chorizo, and shrimp. The flavours were excellent, and enough that we were able to take about 1/3 of the dish home. The ambience is cozy, and therefore welcoming but a little noisy. Service was well-timed and friendly, and price was comparable with other restaurants of this quality.

I took my Mom and brother here for a belated Mother's Day lunch. The service was excellent and the food was the most amazing that I can remember having. Octavio, our waiter was very attentive and polite, we will absolutely be back again.

It was like walking into a restaurant in Mexico, love the decor. From the front desk to the waiters it was welcoming and friendly. In the staff you have a bit of Mexico, Peru, Columbia …it was like taking a trip around the world. Chef was welcoming and authentic. We are Taco Al pastor addicts so I was hoping to see the unit up for it but AHS doesn’t allow it, they were good, but nothing beats the way they do it Mexico, fresh of little smoker. Great job overall, we will be back !

La Patrona is a great restaurant. Reservations are recommended as they get booked up... doesn't that tell you they're doing a great job and worth planning ahead for? First time for 2 friends and they both really enjoyed it.

3 of us, margaritas and tacos with that delicious appy of piled high nachos. Love the decor, love the staff, the food was excellent, great experience I had intended on coming here for sometime and finally we made it - worth it so worth it. Will be back.

There were three of us we had a 4:30 reservation , our waitress was fabulous wish I got her name. I’ve been a few times and the food is to die for. The drinks are fabulous my friends had never been there but left saying they’d definitely be back. Nothing to complain about - it’s small So not overwhelmingly noisy - washrooms are funky and clean - overhearing the bartender talk to the people at the bar was such a great experience. Everyone who works here wants people to enjoy their experience and adds to it. Thank you !
