Inspired by La Peregrina—the world-famous pearl that passed from the Spanish monarchy to Napoleon Bonaparte’s brother before appearing on the neck of Elizabeth Taylor—our rooftop bar and restaurant, La Perla, occupies what was once the penthouse suite where the starlet lived during her marriage to Nicky Hilton.

Now, it’s been reborn as a contemporary rooftop bar, with impressive views of El Paso, the surrounding Rocky Mountains, as well as over the borders of Mexico and New Mexico. Admire the saturated hues of the desert sunset with a vintage craft cocktail in hand, and sample our tapas-style, seafood-driven plates by Chef Acosta (think: Tuna Aguachile, Hamachi Pastor, and Tacos Banados).

Expect to feel like royalty perched above downtown while sipping reinvented classic cocktails.

We had a reservation and the bartender right away said that "it was only her". Already knew that meant crappy service Went in. Didn't tell us where to sit. It's supposed to be a "reservation" no greeting. Sat there for 45min and never came once. So we didn't order anything and left. This was 11/18/23. 9pm.

Sadly this place has great views, seems very welcoming and the set up was nice, but they should have heaters. On the other hand they should have more attentive personnel to make you feel welcomed.

Views are unmatched. Great place for a date night. They serve appetizers only so DNT go expecting a full mean. Had the sliders , which were amazing. Ordered the guacamole also, was mid. Nothing special there..could pass on that but paired it w the sliders so I made it wrk. Ordered the meat and cheese place. Was overpriced and underwhelming. Expected more fem a place like this. A hard pass. Overall my date and I had a great time, drinks were great and the atmosphere was perfect. Would recommend for a special occasion or date night if you're trying to impress.

I took my friend for her birthday to the restaurant, and the service was incredibly slow. The drinks and food were extremely expensive for the value and we ended up having to leave before we even got our food or we would’ve been late to the theater. I would not recommend La Perla to anyone for any reason.

I made reservations for 7:30 pm. When I arrived I was told we would have to wait 15-20 minutes because they overbooked. They took my name and cell number and said they would call. We went downstairs to Ámbar for a drink while we waited. I am still waiting for the call…

I reserved a couple of weeks in advance as we were guest at the Hotel. When we arrived for our reservation, we were told they weren’t seating anymore guests as they were at capacity and had a wedding party. I told the staff I had reserved a couple of weeks ago and were guests at the hotel, they ignored me. I asked to speak to a manager as there was obvious seating and waited 30 minutes. When no one arrived, I was finally told we could go out to seating. The next day they were closed even though I had a reservation for that day as well. I’d still recommend because when we were finally allowed outside it was beautiful.

We were ignored. The group of 4 that came in after us was waited on and still no one acknowledged us. We got up and left without notice. We then passed the hostess who checked us in by name at the door and she said, "thank you!" It was quite ridiculous. I was questioning if we were ghosts that evening.

It was extremely hot on the rooftop at 930 pm (101*) with zero fans or coolers at all going. Guess they don’t have them? Not to mention other guests were smoking cigarettes upstairs. Hot thick air coupled with cigarette smoke was not enjoyable. We left after one drink.

To me is very poor experience , amazingly not servers are available at the roof top , incredible you have to walk to order your drinks . if you compare this with El Paso del Norte you guys are so behind team . if you change this I guarantee your complete experience will change . Think about this you are seating enjoying the nice music then your drinks are empty you need to leave your comfort zone to order Drinks !! Unacceptable hope you take in consideration this humble opinion.

I love it here. Always a great time. The drinks are delicious and one can never get tired of the view. It’s definitely one of our favorite downtown spots.

No one explained they don’t have a waiter and you have to go to bar and order. Menu changed and limited options. Ámbar downstairs bar was not much better. Took another 15 min and only after we went to bar to get acknowledged. Better to go just for lunch, which is a shame given the money spent to make this a beautiful hotel.

Other than the limited beverages they have here we always make it enjoyable! From taking in the scenic views to watching the fireworks from the Chihuahuas games.. Overall great experience

La Perla is my go-to place with guests and when special friends are in town (at least 6 times in the last three years). This experience last Saturday (party of three), however, was deplorable. Service, planning, and food hit the bottom (of course, the Vista is still exceptional). The staff seemed unprepared, not knowledgeable, poorly trained, and inexperienced. For me, the tortillas were awful (hard and having been set out for a while)-- (after the waitress raved about how exceptional they were). They would have been un-servable in any good Mexican restaurant (I should have sent them back, but it would have added to my disappointment with my guests.) The carnitas filling was passable. The staff didn't seem to know what dry wine was. My friend sent her wine back for a passable replacement. Another friend mixed drink them was not as reported. I drink Johnny Walker, which was, of course, fine. After being seated, ordering, and receiving drinks, we had to move for the musical entertainment to set up where our table and chairs were (planning?). My out-of-town friends could only have the meat and cheese platter (which was good) because the other items were reported to be too spicy. My Saturday-night friends had been there with me months ago, and they could not believe how everything had declined. Alas! I love La Perla and hope it will return to its previous levels. We left the place due to bad service! The terrace was full and had to sit inside but didn’t get any service and when the bartender finally stopped by our table she said this place didn’t offer table waiters and didn’t have menus. We decided to leave and went downstairs to Ambar with much better service. The place is nice, very well designed and cozy but service sucks!

Anticipation was high. My husband and I were looking forward to their signature drinks. The bartender informed us that they no longer and have not done any in awhile. We suggested updating their online menu. With the response of yeah tell me about it. Then the outdoor patio was locked. They kicked patrons out of the patio due “high winds”. They were not high at all. I traveled 1200 miles to stay at the Plaza which is a wonderful hotel. But very disappointed in La Perla.

We’ve went here once before and had an amazing time, but last night was a disaster. We order guac once we walked in and didn’t receive it for 45 minutes after having to ask twice. Waiting 45 minutes for a tablespoon of guac that costed 15 dollars is unacceptable. Not to mention my wife tried canceling the guac but the bartender said no and then rushed the guac out so that we would have to pay for it. Lastly my wife ordered a whiskey sour which she never actually received. The drinks we did receive took over 15 minutes to get. Really disappointed and we don’t plan on visiting again.
