La Pizza & La Pasta - Eataly Chicago
La Pizza & La Pasta at Eataly features two of the best-loved Italian dishes: Napoli-style pizza and al dente pasta. Enjoy our seasonal selection just steps away from our expert pasta chefs and dough-slinging pizzaioli (pizza makers).
Cacio e pépé can use more pepper. Overall really enjoyed our food. Tables a little too close and loud level was quite high. Waiter could be more attentive.
Unfortunately our food was cold and pretty flavorless. We couldn't get a server's attention to help correct the issues. Pretty disappointing overall.
Prior to leaving we spoke with the manager regarding our terrible experience on Wednesday.
This has now happened to us not once but twice. About a year ago I received a gift card to Eataly, we dined at La Pizza & La Pasta and the service was ridiculous. We waited for 15 minutes prior to someone even coming to our table, someone came and then said he would be back and never came. Fortunately, another server recognized that we were clearly upset and had never been help. We were just about to leave when this server came over and said he would take us - our meal was considered on the house. So I still had this gift card to use.
Wednesday evening, my husband and I made a reservation to dine again. Once again we had almost the exact same experience, however, this time another server did not recognize the mistreatment. Our server, Enrique, was extremely rude and made us wait over 20 min before taking are drink order. When we asked for the check it again took another 20 min and when he ran the card for the remaining balance we owed he overcharged it, thus having to re-run it again. The food is amazing, but now twice the service was absolutely terrible. We spoke with the manager prior to leaving who asked for my contact information, but has not reached out.
A large worldwide establishment like Eataly should not be having these types of issues.
We did the March pre-fixe menu and for $15 it was a fantastic value. The salad was a great size and you got plenty of pasta to go with. Did the Ravioli di Piselli which had peas and ricotta in the stuffing. Exceptional! Wish there were a couple more options on the pre fixe menu but otherwise well done.
Great table of 8. Ordered lots of pasta and pizza to share. Delicious! Salads were average though.
I love eately very much! Pasta and pizza are like Italian.
I have been to this restaurant multiple time and keep on going. Their pizzas are among the best in town and are decently priced. Besides, they pour very generous glasses of wine! I usually don't book a table, but this was a Friday night and I am glad I did because it was packed and we would have waited for a long time otherwise.
Best spaghetti I’ve ever had!
It took 10 minutes after we were seated to be greeted by our waiter. He was not as attentive as we would have liked. After our meal was over, we waited 30 minutes for our check.
Loved the food and whole atmosphere. Hostess at reception desk was absolutely rude-so that put a damper on things. Then headed to get a glass of wine at bar and was handed a very dirty glass. Got the feeling they know they are popular and don't really care. Food was delicious and hot.
AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING!! We went to Italy almost a year ago and we felt like we were back there with this meal!
So authentic, the pizza and pasta are stellar. Seriously the closest thing we've had to the meals a year ago in Italy. Highly recommend!!
Their pasta (something de Pepe) that was on a small snippet of the menu was phenomenonal. I wish I knew the entire name but it was made with aged cheese and it wasn’t saucey. We also tried a more transitional pizza with arugula added and it was great.
I only don’t recommend the squid ink pasta. Very fishy.
Despite the heartbreak that happened to me, the dinner was great. I’ll always go back to Eataly. Maybe next week. Make new memories :)
You have to experience this. Felt like I was in Italy.
I was there before however this time was not so good. Bread was cold. Food was not amazing as last time.
My daughter and I chose Eataly for our Friday evening meal and made reservations. We arrived 20 minutes early and shopped the first floor, then went upstairs and were seated right away. There was a special prix fixe menu of three courses, and we each had a different entree. The dessert was a scoop from the first floor gelato stand. I’m glad we chose this place for our pasta night!
We had five different pastas and a calzone; cheese plates - including the mozzarella; olives and two different wines. The server was professional, courteous, friendly and answered all of our (many) questions. Comfortable atmosphere although we were under a fan (in February) so it was a little chilly. The prices are on the high side.
We all recommend La Pizza and La Pasta.
Overall the value isn't really there for the dining experience. I made a request to have a table next to the windows ahead of time. They did not accommodate me even when I a noticed the specific seatings available when I arrived.
Really quite good!
The expectation was to have a great Italian dish, unfortunatly that was not the case. Pasta was cold and the “sauce” watery because you could tell that they just heat thia up. Very dissapointing and very expensive for the bad quality of the food. This was just another “american” pasta. My hisband is from Rome, Italy and I promise him this was going to be authwntic and it was very embarresing.
The food was such Italian deliciousness!!!!! I could spend the whole day in this store. All of the sales staff were knowledgeable and helpful.
We had an 11:30 reservation for 8. Arrived a little before and was seated at a very nice round table. Our waitress seemed to be in a rush and the restaurant was not full. She suggested we order our cocktail and dinner at the same time which we did. For a table of 8 she gave us a small bowl of oil (not offering us any
cheese) with one basket of bread. I requested some butter as I cannot eat the oil. When she came with our beverages we asked to have some cheese put in the oil. She did. But, I still had no butter. There was our bus boy who was excellent; I am sorry I did not get his name. The waitress did not offer her name. I asked the bus boy if he could bring butter and he did it immediately. Then, we requested some additional oil (again, no cheese was offered) we requested the cheese from the same bus boy and he responded immediately. The food was average. My ziti was very plain; although I heard the lasagna was
very good. The food is pricey for what you get. We heard and read the comments that the pizza is very good but our waitress stated that the pizza and pasta would not come out at the same time - so we all ordered a pasta. All in all, this is a restaurant worth trying but my spouse and I would not return. I cannot speak for the rest of the party.
Our dinner was average. Our pasta in my opinion was not worth $22. The portion was on the small side. We had order a pasta with short ribs which had very little short ribs. I had higher expectations. The food was delivered extremely fast which was a plus but I thought the pasta and the piazza was just average.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back soon
I went there (as almost everyone does) for pizza and pasta. They were out of all pizza dough. How does that happen in a pizza place. The kids had pasta which was good, but no pizza for me.
Perfect European style pizza! Great wine list! We had a party of six and we all enjoyed the experience immensely!
Eataly is most definitely not authentic Italian. This was Americanized Italain food at best. It's over priced and completely underwhelming. Do yourself and wallet a favor, skip this trash.
Great spot! Good food, great ambiance and fun place to eat.
The kids pizzas are yummy and they get to pick their shape. Thru pasta this time needed be cooked longer. Overall good in taste but I miss their butter sage sauce quadrati.
Very enjoyable. Tried many dishes in our group, liked some better than others. But the whole meal was memorable.
Pasta and pizza is made fresh with high quality ingredients. Food is excellent but main area to be improved is host desk and reservations.
Like always the food and service was outstanding.
Host was extremely rude. Instead of checking us in for our reservation, he chatted with a fellow host. When he finally checked us in, he said we were one minute late for our reservation and we had to be moved to the walk-in line that was an hour and a half wait.
Pizzas and calzone delicious. Pasta just okay, small portion for the cost and a bit bland. Service just okay, waiter never asked how food was, we had to ask him to clear plates, and had to ask for to go boxes. Good ambiance and not too loud.
Great Pizza and nice staff.
The sit down portion at the pasta restaurant was average. The wait staff clearly did not want to be there which I found unimpressive. I felt like we were at Olive garden. The counter services were much better and more fun overall.
This was suggested by a friend. Was cozy and lots to see besides eating a meal. Prices were a little higher than expected, but it is Chicago after all.
We will go again, even if it is just for a Cannoli and a glass of wine.
This is my favorite place for pizza! Such delicious flavors and amazing dough! The service is friendly and fast and so easy to make a reservation in advance! This is my go to place to bring my visitors!
Great service and speed considering it was 7pm on a Saturday during restaurant week.
Eataly restaurants are always fun to visit when you're in Chicago.
