Good location, menu is not very varied, I got a 148$ steak that was advertized as being dry aged 60 days, but was not. There was no aged taste whatsoever and tasted like a regular market steak. The restaurant’s answer was: we do not know what to tell you. Not the answer I was expecting from a high end restaurant. Will not go back, the food was subpar on so many levels. Taste was good, but not what they advertized. I felt ripped off. Very small wine by the glass menu. Save youreelf some disappointment and go to The Keg instead. You’ll get the same quality of food and way better service for 1/4 the price!

Some people might like the ashes on a seriously charcoal burned steak. I don’t. Also found more expensive steaks on the bill than what we had ordered. No apology. Not going there again.

No Pinot Grigio available, you get charged an extra $25 just to “Share” a steak and the boss is a wanna be Gordon Ramsay. If I got 5 bucks for every time here screamed an F-bomb it would of paid for the meal.

Service is perfect they can properly size if it's a date a business meeting or just a nice meal with friends. From there the service is properly adapt.
It's not just a steakhouse it's a great steakhouse

Small food portions, specially the meat. My Kansas cut was hard and lot of nerves still in it, which was very disappointing. Many other steak house are above the value and quality of food than La Queue de Cheval.

Mother’s Day lunch celebration was very sad.
Although the service was very courteous the food was very very disappointing.

We had the table d’hote. We ordered the lobster bisque and it was bitter and basically not eatable. The waiter kindly offered the other option for entree which was an arugula salad. Unfortunately is was very unbalanced. Bitter and salty. The mixture of arugula green onion, olive tapanade and Parmesan was a very salty mix that none of us enjoyed.
For the next course we ordered a gnocchi dish with braised oxtail and the beef Wellington. Both were very bad.
The gnocchi were overly greasy and bland, I shyly had to ask for some salt to get any flavor from this dish. Sad .

The beef Wellington beef was cooked to the point but it seamed like the quality of the beef was not the best as it was very very chewy. it was also salty and greasy from the puff pastry and the bacon. Not good at all.
The complementary crema brûlée was the high point of our lunch it was creamy and smooth with a nice crunchy caramelized sugar topping that was music to my ears when it cracked.

All in all a very poor lunch will not be coming back to this restaurant that has a made its name for on a hype than for the actual quality of the food.

Excellent food and upscale setting. Ambience is set by loud music and loud art. Entertaining service and very attentive. The prices are high but the quality of the food was outstanding. Great combinations of flavors. Steaks were very nicely seasoned, vegetables fresh and delicious. Try the Brussels Sprouts with Maple Syrup.

The restaurant was great ,quality with a nice lunch special at $27 per but the wine list started at $145 per bottle;they were out of two other wines starting at $95 and $115,that is plain abusive.

They should have a house wine and other wines from maybe $50 or $60.

Now we had to pay $145 plus tax plus tip so this bottle cost really close to $200 for a California wine.Plus lunch for 4 another $150. that is more than pricey just plain wrong.

This was one of the finest meals I have experienced in a very long time. The filet was excellent and the blue tomato appetizer was superb. A wonderful experience.

Queue de Cheval used to be the epitomy of steak houses. Now, it is not. The prices have shot up beyond extravagant to the completely unaffordable for a portion that leaves you hungry. Gone are the days of having a drink, salad, steak and dessert for under 1,000.00$. The quantity and quality of our 300$ steak (to be shared) was miniscule, poorly marbled, and over cooked. The waiters never came by to refill the water, brought the wrong dishes to the wrong people, brought the wrong order (oysters instead of shrimp), took the plates before we were finished, and generally appeared harried and clueless. I have been to this restaurant about once per year, and it is consistently getting worse. The salad was so over dressed the lettuce was limp and wilted. There was not enough butter for the bread, and no more was forth-coming. The 16$ dessert (lava cake with icecream), didn't come with enough icecream to fill a spoon. I am not exaggerating, it wasn't even a full mouthful. The icecream was more of a garnish than an accompaniment.

In years past, the steak was served without spices on it, such that one could taste the wagyu beef. Now, it was completely covered in steak spice, completely hiding the natural flavours, and came with a side of sauce to further obscure any flavours one might have been hoping to taste from the 300$ sliver of meat.

The music was both grating, and ridiculously loud. It was nigh impossible to have a conversation or speak to the waiter. It was so packed, the waiters repeatedly jostled my chair.

In short, it was an absolutely terrible experience in every way shape and/or form, and i would never recommend anybody ever go back here. Perhaps if they go back to their roots, with attentive serving staff, letting the meats naturally aged flavours come forth without obscuring it with excessive quantities of spice, and prices less focused towards the sultan of brunei..

I'd complain more, but i'm out of space.

It was a while since I had been....and the first time since being at this location...and found the food to be OK - just not nearly good value for the price point....and its not that the price point that bothered me, but rather we were in Montreal with friends - had a great afternoon...and looked forward to a great meal before an exciting hockey game....and with so many great food options in the Montreal core, an opportunity for us was missed. Don't get me wrong, the staff was great - Caesar salad excellent....but all of us at the table felt our steaks and sides were simply OK to good. Further - and I like to think I know my wines- the wine list was extensive but the price point on the wine was heavy. I had a decent wine from California but at $ 135.00 did not corelate with what we can buy at SAQ or LCBO.

We were seated in the basement - which is beautifully renovated - but a basement nonetheless, so if that bothers you, specify to sit main or second level.

Restaurant was highly recommended, but did not live up to expectations in several areas. We were seated promptly, but service declined from there. We ended up spending a total of three hours on dinner for a party of five. It took nearly an hour and a half just for salads to arrive at table. Then, after inquiring with the manager because our waiter was not following up at all, appetizers were delayed, and the explanation given was due to making a single crab cake! Unacceptable. Once the manager got things moving, it was obvious they rushed our food, thus compromising the taste. For such an expensive steak meal, quality was seriously lacking. Additionally, if the restaurant is not going to have certain items on the menu due to their aging process, then their menu should be catered to what they have at the time and not be just a standard menu. We had two choices that were either not available when ordered or we were told “the last one just went out”. Again, unacceptable. And their way to make it up to us for all of this inconvenience and lack of service was to put a side of fries on the table. That was just insulting, to be honest.

All told, I was extremely disappointed by the experience at this restaurant and would have a difficult time recommending it. The value for what you get is certainly not worth it.

Service was ok, but not great. At times quite slow, whereas at other times they were too eager to interrupt the meeting to check in on us. Also, they brought out the food at different tones which was somewhat annoying. The food itself was good though. Would go again.
