French Onion Soup
V ery disappointing experience. I had ordered the rabbit and while the first bite was delicious the following were horrible. the meat was stuffed with large bits of uncooked garlic. The garlic overwhelmed the taste of the meat although i tried to get rid of it. I was planning to order a dessert but given my experience with the meat i decided against it.
Service was as good as feasible with only one strechted thin server doing the best he could.
Food was delicious. Service was lovely. Wrong dessert was delivered but we ate it and was delicious. Pointed the error out to the waiter when dishes were being collected. Waiter offered to bring the correct one but was declined. Instead waiter gave us a note for free dessert at next visit.
one of our favorites for breakfast/brunch in the neighborhood! the food is always exceptionally delicious, its simple, classy and stylish decor is inviting and cozy, there's always a warm welcome from Paul (one of the servers) and we always leave happy and content :)
A lovely outdoor enclave that made me feel like I was in Paris. The food was delicious - service excellent and it was a wonderful moment in time.
Food is excellent as well as the service. Fabulous neighbor gem!
Outstanding service, ambience and brunch was delicious. Great local restaurant and always excellent customer service.
Acoustic level inside a bit loud. Needs some soundproofing. Not easy to converse.
Duck was cooked medium well when ordered med rare
I really liked this restaurant! The escargot was very good!
very pleasant environment. busy lunch being handled by only 1 service person who did good job considering.
It was a treat to go back to La Sirene. There are menu items that are not easily found in other local French restaurants (like a wonderful chicken livers salad, superb steak tartare, and the nearly extinct tournedos Rossini, well executed), and a charming interior. Service is good, and there is a superb Cotes du Rhône for under &60.
Exceptional food and wonderful service
Relaxed, quiet, excellent food and service. Very pleased.
You go there when you feel like eating something French - seriously good baguette, very hood pâté, good lamb, tender tongue (though needs flavor). Pasta shouldn’t be on the menu. They did a wonderful job with the outside space, it’s very cozy. Excellent service. Will be back to try more.
Ate outside so the ambience is the street but curtained off for quasi private dining. Food was v good but about half a dozen of my mussels were not open so inedible. Service was casual but attentive and wine suggestion was on the mark. My 4th time eating here, 2x dinner and 2x lunch. It’s a gem of a restaurant. Pay in cash to avoid the 4% credit card fee.
A wonderful French bistro-best on the UWS. Excellent wine list and we enjoyed perfectly prepared fish and Cornish game hens. Bring cash, 4% up charge for using a credit card.
Visiting from Texas. Delicious food. Goat cheese tart, pork tenderloin, French fries and a large plate of side vegetables were all excellent tasting.
The cassoulet was very, very good. Poached pear appetizer delicious. Hanger steak good. Pork tenderloin very good. Foie Gras excellent. Desserts (profiteroles, Croquembouche au Caramel) were better sounding and looking than tasting - pastry could have been flakier, filling not as succulent as imagined. We ate in the Covid-era pavilion outside and it was nicely appointed with greenery and decent lighting so very pleasant on a mild September evening. The downside was that a bold panhandler approached each table and asked and pestered, berating customers who didn't come across. I noticed that the waitstaff disappeared inside when she showed up and made no effort to intercede as she worked each table in turn. Comes with the territory, I guess, and perhaps they preferred to let her do her thing and go rather than create a scene but I might consider eating inside next time. Service was largely attentive. Bit of a wait between first drink and food-ordering but once past that, things were fairly smooth. At one point, a server came with what looked like the first half of our meal (for 4) but then returned, looking in a state of shock, and abruptly snatched the dishes away with no explanation (we had already sampled a couple of frittes). The main waiter ambled over a little while later and offered little explanation...muttering something about a mistake. I guess the timing was off for the entrees or they left something off the order. At any rate, no harm, no foul, really...just disconcerting. The food was good. We had a nice time. Overall, a pleasant experience.
Great food, romantic setting, outstanding service!
We had booked an earlier reservation outdoors and had to move it out, which they were very nice about, and said we would "work it out" as they were booked at that time. When we arrived, there were not seats outside, but they gave us each a glass of prosecco while we waited inside. We decided just to eat inside and it was delicious. We had the escargots and the cassoulet.
My problem is that I so love the ravioli appetizer and the duck that I find it hard to order anything else!
Food is just fantastic
Exellent dinner and service.......................
E had our choice of several outside tables and chose one on the corner surrounded by relaxing lighting and green plants. Tony, our waiter, was terrific as was the support staff. Pear with melted blue cheese was an outstanding sharing starter. Cod special was yummy and was well priced. Main courses served with a lovely plate of four assorted vegetables. Good red wine and being with family made It a perfect evening. A true neighborhood gem!
While three of us immensely enjoyed our meal and wine my husband's duck breast was fatty, tough and unpleasant. He was uncomfortable verbalizing this at the time.
Exactly what you’re hoping for when you go out for French food. The food is absolutely delicious and there is plenty of outdoor seating, if you like.
Cannot overstate how impressed we were by level of service and the quality of the food including its presentation. A real addition to Upper West Side dining.
Lovely atmosphere delicious food great servers
The food is delicious. I have had the mussels at La Sirene many times and am never disappointed. Other members of my party were equally happy with their selections.
This was our first time here. Outdoor dining has challenged the entire dining out scene. It was very warm last night and a bit crowded under the awning. The food was very good and menu had excellent choices. Everything was very fresh.
Had a very pleasant lunch outside. Waitress was sweet and competent. We had watermelon salad 4.5/5, pate lunch 4.5/5, mussels 4/5, and mimosas 5/5. What stood out was the pate presentation was unique and it reminded us of eating in Paris. Miss traveling to Europe so much but it was a nice memory that the pate gave us, sigh! Be gone COVID-19!
food was good, wellprepared and presented. our server very attentive and pleasant. it's a neighborhood haven from daily problems!
Food is always excellent. It presents simple, well-prepared bistro dishes. The atmosphere is quiet and quaint.
My favorite restaurant in this neighborhood.
Wonderful service. Food was delish. Great ambience. Will definitely go back!
The food was great and service was phenomenal. Only reason I give it 4 stars is because they charge a 4% credit card fee on your dining, which I wish was made apparent up front. Also, unhoused people kept coming up to us during our meal while we were eating outside.
The food and service was excellent. I love the way they have set up outdoor dining.
This was the second time we were there in a week. Somehow it was not as successful as our first visit.
We ate inside, it was very hot, crowded and noisy. The tables are tiny so the bread plate dropped to the floor. The food was good but not great.
Doubt if we will return.
Always fantastic food and service! I recommend this restaurant for all family and friends.
Very good food and lovely service. Small indoor space. The pear salad and Cornish hen were great. Nice assortment of vegetables to accompany entree. I couldn't possibly have finished the profiteroles as my friend did, the sorbet was just enough!
