The food was wonderful, our waiter was attentive, but was quite disappointed in her ability to provide customer service. The atmosphere was very loud, If your looking for a quiet place to eat , I would not recommend it.
The food was great. Would have liked to see a little more on the menu. The venue was really nice. We did find the ya Lea a bit close together.
Food was amazing. Ambiance was great for a nice meal out. If they have it you have to try the maple dessert, it was probably the best dessert I have ever had. Everything was great including the service. Top notch. Would come again.
Our first visit to Cheticamp was in late October, so we had few options, but we discovered this popular restaurant, and enjoyed excellent service from the minute we arrived. We ordered the seasonal salad for starters which was delicious with its salted dried blueberries and toasted buckwheat, and the dressing was fantastic! Our main course was roast cauliflower and fennel with chicken, also delicious snd satisfying after a long day of hiking! A must to end the evening, was the Basque Cheesecake - with whisky caramel and apple compote - amazing! Ambience also great! We made reservations for a second visit requesting a view of the ocean, were told a note would be added, but were seated elsewhere with no apologies on that score. But we would not hesitate to visit again, delicious!
Wine list could be updated as it is disappointing when you order two different bottles from the menu and neither is available.
Food was amazing though.
We enjoyed our second night in a row at your lovely restaurant and loved it. Thank you.
Quaint small restaurant. Advanced reservations recommended. Servers were not slow but took a while for order. Food delicious. Severs friendly.
Only one very small dark bathroom that creates quite a line up when busy. Probably waited 1/2 hour for facilities. M/F and needed tending to.
Spot on perfect evening from start to finish ❤️ Highly recommend this dining experience
Delicious meal and perfect attentive service. Would highly recommend.
We had an excellent table right by window and food was marvellous and the service was best we ever had. Lovely evening. Thank you
Amazing food and excellent service
Ambience is very romantic and the view of the harbour fabulous!
Really enjoyed the evening…so relaxing😍 I can just imagine beautiful evenings with a magical sunset…you guys have the perfect spot!!
Lovely view from the window of the water, service was excellent and food was amazing!!
This was our second time there. It was outstanding in service and good. Very relaxing atmosphere. Menu is eclectic, ordinary dishes with a French twist, that makes them extraordinary.
So good, service to good is most excellent
Service was great and food was phenomenal !!!
The haddock was fried too much to the point it was tough. But the burger and fried chicken sandwich were delicious.
Charming decor, excellent wait staff, and simple food done exceptionally well. We will definitely come again!
Our server, an excellent young man, was exceptional.
He was…Attentive, informative, personable and efficient.
Our food was super delicious. The chef made a battered haddock and it’s accompanying sides,,,taste as if we had not tasted it before. The roasted beets, cole slaw, and Tartar sauce were also delicious!
I have visited this restaurant on a previous trip to Cape Breton and enjoyed the experience so decided to make another reservation a month ahead of time this year. However, this time around was vey different. Food wise is was good, my partner really enjoyed the chicken burger, and my fish was good but nothing to write home about.
It was the utterly rude service that turned us off and frankly ruined the experience. We were promptly told from the moment we sat down that we would only have 75 minutes (when reservations are supposed to be 90 minutes) so when I made a comment about that being a very short reservation and I was under the impression we would have at least 90 minutes the server scoffed and complained about how she'd have to move everyone else around to give us the time we were supposed to have. After this we were rushed through our meal by the server who was disingenuous and seemed annoyed by us even being there. After taking our payment she cut my partner off mid sentence, and stomped off without a word.
I've worked in the restaurant industry for years, and I can totally understand and sympathize with being tired and over worked (especially this year) but this attitude was inexcusable.
If the service is consistently like this, I'd recommend skipping out and visiting some of the friendlier and welcoming spots down the road!
Great service, food and atmosphere. Will definitely go again.
We fell in love with the place! The ambiance was perfect and the decor is so pretty. The food was excellent and the portions generous.
Wow is the best word to describe our experience. The menu initially looked limited BUT it was just right. There was a wonderful choice to suit every pallet. I had the beef tenderloin and can honestly say that it was the best I have ever had!
The deserts were all made in house and a nice way to finish the meal.
The staff were friendly and overall I highly recommend making a reservation to make sure you are able to enjoy a wonderful, tasty meal.
Beautiful view, eclectic and charming ambience, delicious food, great service. Would definitely eat here again.
We had dinner at L'abri and ordered Haddock and fish tacos. The portions were generous and very tasty. The service was excellent.
We had a delicious meal at l'Abri! Highly recommend it!
Very nice atmosphere and fantastic food! Would highly recommend
Very tasty food. Bread crust was slightly burnt but otherwise really really good. Interesting and very tasty vegetables with our mains. Decor is basic but good ocean view. Reservations a must.
My husband and I ate at L’abri twice during our four night vacation to Cape Breton. One of the best restaurants on the island. Great atmosphere- very cool vibe. Great selection on the menu and food is excellent. Servers are very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Wonderful sunsets over Cheticamp harbour. Highly recommend. Make a reservation so you are not disappointed as they are very busy. Visit sister cafe and food shop- Marguerite- wonderful coffee, baked goods and quality food items.
Visited in the evening with my husband and young daughter. We were instantly into the relaxed vintage vibe of the café. I loved that they said they had an unofficial kids menu. My 3 year old daughter ordered a grilled cheese and it was the best one I’ve ever eaten. The bread was so full of body and flavour. My husband and I had the evening special buttermilk spicy chicken burger with house fries, and the steak tenderloin with mash and local veggies, respectively. Both dishes were perfect in both taste and portion. We all shared the cheesecake and pâté au sucre (sugar pie) for dessert. We all preferred the sugar pie.
Needless to say, this was one of our favourite meals, ever. Would highly recommend to anyone who will be in the area!
Our second trip here and will be back when in Cheticamp again. Great experience!
I was looking forward to finally getting to this restaurant as I had heard good things. It did not disappoint. All meals in our group were thoroughly enjoyed. A nice relaxing dinner, beautiful decor and friendly staff. We'll be back!
Great meal during our visit to Cape Breton. The atmosphere is terrific- casual but chic. Service was impeccable! Food was excellent! Best restaurant in Cheticamp if not the island. Love it and will be back .
A fantastic meal and incredible atmosphere— you do not want to miss this stop in Cheticamp!
This restaurant had great food, great service, and great view! A must stop on the Cabot Trail.
Service staff exceptional and ambiance very nice. Seafood chowder was bland and the lobster roll was just ok.
Beautiful view over the water. Friendly service. Amazing food.
A beautiful place. Delicious food! I will definitely be coming back!
Beautiful evening after a day of hiking
Definitely the place to dine while in cheticamp.
