The food was excellent. The place is very cute and cozy.
A great evening with excellent food and service. Good value for money. We will definitely return.
What a complete delight to be back in one of our favourite restaurants in Ottawa! the kitchen was spot on, and while the somewhat inexperienced server had to hustle to keep the full house satisfied, he did it with a friendly, confident air. High-end Indian cuisine never tasted so good ....
Kitchen ventilation needs improvement. Some of their ingredients became airborne and made me very sick. Allergic to cashews so always super careful about hat I eat. How do I know it was airborne? It happened to me at home when I was cooking tikka masala
Pricing and ambience noise level needs to be managed better
not a great choice for the price we paid. I'll not go back
My friends and I absolutely love this place! The best food, amazing staff and service, The food is authentic, fresh, healthy and delicious!
Definitely one of the best indian cuisine I ever had! The food, the ambiance and the service makes this place a must stop for any fan of Indian dishes. Our server was really helpful and made great cocktails, I especially loved the Rickshaw and our friends had the Shere Khan.
The butter chicken is perfectly seasoned and spiced and my favorite dish! The Crispy Shrimp is not only beautiful on the plate, but sensational on the palate! The music was subtle and the over all vibe was great.
Cocktails are yummy! Delicious fresh food! Hard working wait staff.
It was our second time there in as many months, and once again the food was delicious. I particularly recommend the spicy lamb chops.
The recent addition on the walls of colourful photographs by a local artist make the restaurant even more inviting!
Food was good. Cocktails were alright. Service was a struggle for them, and there were only 7 people in the dining room. Took 30min for them to take our order. Took another 45min to get our food (butter chicken and a veggie curry). Nice spot if they can get service sorted out.
Services were very busy so service was not the best (did not offer to fill up water, take order, etc)
Have been going for a year just moved to tte Glebe. Food is excellent but service extremely slow
We had such a disappointing time here. I had called to request a spot on their patio, the server said no problem, and showed up to find out the patio was nonexistent — we sat inside, but with COVID they should really be more transparent with their reservations if they won't have outdoor space available.
The restaurant was wildly understaffed, which is so unfair to the one waitress working. She was so overwhelmed and clearly trying to do her best, but it was painful to watch. We waited 20 minutes to be offered a drink only to find out they weren't serving cocktails. I asked for a glass of wine and the server said she knows nothing about wine and to "go to the bar and pick a bottle." We ended up asking for beer instead, all they had was a cheap Asian lager that they still charged the same amount for as their craft beer ($9), which they were out of. The crispy shrimp appetizer was a stand out, but the chicken korma was so oily, the saag paneer was bitter, the saffron rice was stale and the roti was dry. We were out celebrating a birthday and weren't offered dessert. Instead, while we sat to finish our drinks, the server asked us to settle up as people were waiting outside to get in. What's the point of a reservation? I didn't even get to finish my expensively cheap lager. Not at all worth the money. I left embarrassed for having taken my partner here for his birthday dinner.
Lovely little place. Very cozy. Wonderful food!
The service was great and the food is delicious.
Best Indian food we have ever had. Absolutely delicious, beautiful presentation and fantastic service. A neighbourhood gem!
My husband and I love this restaurant! It’s our go-to for our date nights. The service is fantastic and the atmosphere is great. It’s a cozy little restaur
Fantastic food. The server was lovely, but blamed the 1.5 hour delay on the kitchen prioritizing take out over dine in customers. That’s outrageous, especially for a pretty pricey place. But really, the food was spectacular.
Perfect. Mindy (server) is the heart of the establishment.
this place is SO good! I would highly recommend. The vibes are great, the food is spectacular and the service is also great
Great service, very Covid-conscious and the food was amazing. I even ordered additional entrees to have as take away to eat the next day.
This one of my favourite restaurants. Food is not the run of the mill Indian, it’s fine dining. Everything on the menu is fabulous. The staff are wonderful, friendly and attentive.
Amazing. Would go back. Food was delicious and service was friendly.
It had been a couple of years since I’d last eaten at an Indian restaurant and I was very much looking forward to it!
Last Train to Delhi was definitely worth the wait. The fun started with our waitress, who was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu. The wine list is short but quality-oriented. I ordered a cocktail called Shere Khan which was earthy/spicy/whiskey yummy. The crispy shrimp were outstanding with spicy fried potato “vermicelli” wrapped around them!
The Butter Chicken lives up to its reputation: absolutely mouthwatering and enough for a takeaway snack next day. Wish we lived closer 😏
Intimate setting, warm in every way, excellent service and delicious food. Superb
Restaurant wasn't busy yet took 20 min to get the menu and had to ask for it. The couple seated in front of us got much better service than we did, very strange... Has never happened before at any other restaurant. Pretty pricey food.
This Indian restaurant is absolutely outstanding. It is fresh, innovative, and delicious. I grew up with Indian food, and while some dishes are a delightful reminder, others have broadened my experience and introduced me to new possibilities. Fantastic!
A true gem. Don’t wait.
I’d had a delicious meal at this restaurant in the past and was excited to bring out of town guests. I reserved well in advance to ensure we had a table. Unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. Staff were trying hard but the facility seemed unprepared for either the volume of takeout orders or the combination of takeout orders and dine in guests. We were over an hour before our drink order taken, despite the waitress coming to take our order and then leaving abruptly to seat another table, promising to return and give us her undivided attention but getting distracted and coming back 25 minutes later.
We tried to place our drink order but my guest’s request was out of stock, that happens so she order the next closest beer, to have the waitress return 10 minutes later to say it was out of stock too. My guest declined a third choice.
Much later, we ordered our dinner, we were now famished. The waitress returned to say they only had enough shrimp to give us one order, explaining the takeout orders that were placed before out eat in order, had to be filled first. This was frustrating as we’d been waiting now over an hour and 45 minutes to get food. Our waitress seemed frustrated and offered us a complimentary dessert, which was nice, but it occurred to us that we would have had our first food choice and a better evening if we’d ordered takeout closer to our arrival time.
As expected the, the food was delicious but we were so hungry we inhaled it instead of savouring the food. We ordered our desserts to go.
I don’t fault the staff, they were clearly working very hard but possibly trying to deal with too much. Additionally, running out of certain foods and 50% of your beer options demonstrates poor planning, unless it was an unusually heavy night, but a Friday night in September should be predictable.
At this point, I’d recommend them for takeout, but not dine in.
The food is delicious! You can taste the freshness of the ingredients and the love that goes into making it. I had the crispy shrimp, lamb chops and gobi matter - recommend all three dishes!
I had a 6pm reservation and the service was top notch until they got really busy with takeout orders as well as later reservations. Not sure if this is a one off, as this was my first visit. Perhaps dine early, or prepare to not be in a hurry...the food is worth the wait and will have you wanting to return for more.
The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious! Will definitely come again.
First time trying out this Indian restaurant in Ottawa. Found ourselves a new awesome dining spot.
The food was very authentic, loved the lamb dish and the korma. We did not order an appetizer.
The place is very clean and nicely decorated, perfect for celebrating a formal occasion. The service was also great!
The food was outstanding, as usual, and the service excellent and friendly despite the COVID constraints. The small spicy lamb chops to share as starter were wonderful!
I love Indian food but I usually suffer later with digestive problems - not so with the food at Last Train to Delhi. I don't know whether it is the fact that pretty much everything is made in-house or the kind of oil they use or the quantity, but at this restaurant, I can indulge my appetite for korma and curry and rogan josh and all the delicious appetizers with no ill effects whatsoever. Last Train to Delhi is now my go-to place when I crave Indian food.
The Citizen review implied that one could request a lower level of heat(spiciest) in a dish. This why we went there as we do not like things too spicy. As it turned out that was not the case the spiciness in a dish could not be reduced. Most of the menu were quite spicy dishes, one was not. This is what I had, it was okay but quite bland. In other words one or the other, nothing in between. I was given some Chili sauce which I added and it gave it a little kick but tolerable. Also ordered onion Bahji which turned out to be very spicy, the waiter knowing this was a concern should have mentioned it. These are not spicy in most Indian restaurants around here. Nice restaurant but we will not return unless more varied choices are offered.
Delicious food, great service, wonderful space. Thanks!
Amazing food... this isn’t your run of the mill Indian Food. Each dish’s flavours are perfectly nuanced. Normally I order dal as a key side, but their dal was the stand out star of the dishes we ordered. Must try!
Probably one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Ottawa. Well worth the money and visit.
Excellent food. 4 dishes plus rice were enough for 4 people. The service was great, attentive, not intrusive. The desserts that we tried were heavenly. Good ambience. We found parking for a 6:15 seating. If you want to stay longer than 2 hours, let them know when you reserve - as tables are booked for an 8:30 seating.
