It’s a hotel restaurant. It’s ok, but I’m not likely to return.

Service was amazing. Went early on a Saturday. Was nice and quiet. Clean. Amazing atmosphere. Very overpriced for the food. $70 for two breakfast meals (that weren’t even the most expensive on the menu), one pastry, one coffee and orange juice. Perhaps offer something like a complimentary biscuit w jams. The “freshly baked” croissant was underbaked. The pizza was to be desired. The hash was very oily.

Was there on the last day of Austin Restaurant Week. Food is good, with a decent size. Even though their lunch price for ARW was different from what's in the advertisement, Louis and Emily honored the advertised price. Service is good. The restaurant has a nice setting.

Laurel has become my go-to in Austin. The food is world-class. Each dish that I had was perfect. Last night, we started with the calamari served hot, crisp, and in a bed of a bechamel-like sauce and drizzled with parmesan and some chili. The octopus we had the night before was also perfectly charred and in a sauce worth ordering. The fingerling potatoes were the perfect accompaniment. My partner had the Italian sausage and peppers pasta, and the pasta was perfectly al dente, and the sauce was intensely flavored, rich, and yet not overpowering. I had the halibut that was perfectly cooked, flaky pan-seared, and crisp on the bottom. The custard-filled donuts were a perfect end to the meal. I have to mention that I have dined here four times, and the food has been a pleasant surprise each time. The food always arrives piping hot and fresh. The service is terrific as the waiters have been there for years, know the menu, and can guide you to the night's best dishes. They were conversational, knowledgeable, and yet not overbearing. I noticed that someone did not like the crab cakes for breakfast, and I'm afraid I have to disagree. The crab case beenys were fantastic when I had them for breakfast yesterday. The custard-drizzled french toast was a masterpiece, and I would drive back for that alone. The chicken and waffles were the best I ever had; the chicken was perfectly fried, piping hot, and placed on top of a wonderful fluffy waffle.

The hotel is beautiful and if the weather cooperates the outside patio woudl be lovely. The interior is very attractive and the service was good. The menu seemed creative and included some interesting items. The actual food was somewhat disappointing. Nothing was terrible and some items were good but others were ok at best. The crab cake benedict which sounds amazing to me was made with a terrible tasteless crab cake and the side of greens were wilted and had no flavor. The fresh juices were great as was the coffee. So it was a bit of a mixed bag.

A real let down. We’d hoped for much better. Feels like a hotel breakfast room rather than an upscale restaurant, although they certainly price that way. Servers were friendly, the cocktails were well made. Everything else was mediocre. Had wanted to do the tasting menu, but they couldn’t accommodate switching 2 of 6 courses for a vegetarian. Ordered off the main menu. The burrata was good. The charcuterie board looked (and tasted) like a reassembled HEB platter. Had to send steak back, ordered medium rare, got well done. Even the second attempt (30 mins later) was mediocre quality meat. Manager offered a complimentary glass of wine by way of apology. But it was added to the check anyway. A

Went for brunch and had great service and food. I really appreciate the aesthetic of this restaurant. Lots of egg-based brunch options to choose from. Of course waffles and a delicious ricotta lemon pancake (no gluten free option for these at the moment). Bacon and sausage were cooked to perfection.

I wanted to like it more. Was there for lunch to celebrate with some coworkers. Venus looked interesting on opentable. Thought we could get mocktails… nothing available. Food - started good with the burrata. Mains were mediocre. My main was a vegetable wrap… cafeteria quality. Vibe was just off for such a nice looking hotel venue. Lonely atmosphere. Maybe more if a spot for the evening?

Lovely restaurant in a beautiful location. The food was good yet nothing truly exceptional but the atmosphere really takes it to the next level. We did a brunch here, for my friend's birthday, and they gave her an extra portion of these delicious fried balls filled with custard, with a candle. I had purchased a Travelzoo certificate which really made it worthwhile. Laurel Restaurant is located at the Hotel Viata which is up in the hills along 360. It's a truly beautiful location. Plenty of parking attached to the hotel. Good service and not too busy or noisy on a Sunday morning. Reservations through Open Table were quick and easy. Will likely go back again.

Visited Laurel for the first time for brunch and was happy we went. The location and atmosphere was great. Service by Luis was top notch. Food was delicious with the exception of the blueberry muffin, nothing special; however the Benny and BBQ hash were great and creative. Drinks were tops too. While not inexpensive Laurel is a great option for a different, enjoyable, occasion, IMO.
