Amazing place with amazing service and great food! Definitely worth the visit! Love it!
The service wasn’t the best and the food was different. It took a really long time too.
Atmosphere was incredible, staff were kind, knowledgeable, and prompt... all around great tea experience/environment. Definitely the perfect place for a girls date! The washrooms and clothing, near the back, are must sees!
Very interesting design and décor but truly awful afternoon tea. Tea cups have no bases so they tip over and spill your tea everywhere. Tea items were either filled with strong smelling fish or old and dry. Most items were secured to the tray with what appeared to be clear food glue, leaving a trail of slime-like ooze whenever you picked an item up. We paid close to $160 for two people and ate hardly any of what was served. Just absolutely awful.
Food was great, tea was great. They seemed to be very understaffed so the service wasn’t as great as I’d expect for the price point. But overall would recommend
Pleasant birthday lunch.
This is a very interesting place with unique decor. I was excited to go here to celebrate my birthday. We made a reservation and got dressed up for the high tea experience. They need a hostess. We arrived on time but were completely ignored. The female who finally seated and served us was very slow, in every sense of the word. They had no wine list on the menu but I could clearly see they had bottles of champagne on display. The first server I asked about getting a glass of wine refused and said those bottles were "just for display". I insisted with another server that since they put wine in the mimosa, which was on the menu, that surly they could just put some sparkling wine in a glass for me. She agreed and we ordered our tea at the same time but she never asked my dining companions if they wanted any wine or cocktails. I have no idea if she completely forgot about us or what ,but we did not receive any drinks until 40 mins after we arrived. After about half an hour of sitting there with nothing I got up and found some water on the bar which I served to my table and also asked a male server why we had not received anything at all. He could tell we were annoyed and tried to improve the situation but the female server was completely oblivious to the fact that this is unacceptable. The food arrived about an hour after we arrived. The food looked pretty. The soup was tasty but not hot. The male server gave me a tiramisu to take home which was the most delicious of everything I tasted. It was nice of him and redeemed this place in my eyes. He apologized profusely and explained they were short staffed that day. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and go back again but not for high tea, I would just order some tea and the delicious tiramisu. It is worth going in just to check out the ambiance.
I loved everything about our visit but my favorite part was how lovely our waiter was. He made us feel so special. I would gladly recommend Laurence and Chiyo to my friends and would absolutely come again. The onigiri balls were so delicious also:)
An unfortunate combination of high tea nibbles and poor, very inattentive service make for an unremarkable afternoon. L&C's saving grace is its unique and flamboyant ambience and decor, but even that can be overly garish at times.
It was unique experience.
Only the ladies next table ware too noisy.
Enjoyed the decor , chairs were so comfortable! Food was invented with surprising flavours combinations.
I just wished the music was different to fit with ambiance.
Funky decor and the Rabbit's Foot High Tea is creative, delicious and good value.
The shop is pretty. It’s good for get-together with friend. It’s definitely good to take pictures. My friend and I went to have afternoon tea together. I had the green tea with a touch of peach and melon. My friend had the oolong milky. We both agreed the tea is good. Mine is fruity and hers is milky but we booth didn’t like to tea set. The tea set came with 5 savouries and 5 seweets. The soup is very salty. The other savouries were ok but the sweets were not good at all. I each had one bite and did not want to have another bite at all. For me the afternoon tea is not worth $45 per person with the food tasted like that. I wouldn’t go there again.
PS. The sofas are pretty but they are hard to get in, sit on and stay in. I kept sliding off the sofa and had to put my feet on the leg of the table to keep myself staying in the sofa.
This is my second visit and definitely not as impressive as the first. The overall feeling is that this Tea House tries a little too hard. The tea is not bad but the food is mediocre and lacks in freshness. The bread was hard in one of the rollups with the prosciutto and pastries did not seem to be completely fresh. The service was tepid. The lone female staff member was leaning against the wall talking to a coworker which makes the ambiance a little too casual and relaxed. They also looked bored to be there. Value is also a factor as the price is high for what you do get.
Will probably not recommend to friends as once the novelty of the place passes, nothing else really keeps you there except for the cuteness of the China.
We had a serious mixup with our server. It took some time for him to bring us the tea to choose from and then he disappeared. I finally went up and asked another server where our server was and she told me he had gone out to run some errands! No service. Nothing. She then states she would be serving us, but she had just been to the table beside us and ignored us also.
So, she finally takes our tea order and brought the tea and our High Tea order.
I’m sorry, but this High Tea is a scam. $118 (with tip) for a couple of pots of tea and some tiny goodies is ridiculous. Yes, I knew it going in, but the reality is a slap in the face, especially with the poor service. They gave us a piece of tiramisu since it was my daughter’s birthday, but that really didn’t make up for it.
The one good part was the decor of the cafe and the funky bathrooms. That was fun, but would never go back.
The place is such an eye candy. We tried the rabbits foot high tea. Its was good but serving is not a lot compare to the other high teas that I've been.
Delightful staff and unforgettable decor. My daughter and I flew in from Nanaimo and it was so much more than we expected.
great food and i like their sofa，definitely will recommend to my friends
It was like walking into a scene from Alice in Wonderland meets the Hunger Games! Such a cool vibe but the food was the real show stopper! We had high tea and from the wonderful array of teas to choose from to the last delectable bite, everything was spectacular. Great care was taken with the presentation of each unique sweet or savoury - and the taste equally matched the feast for the eyes! I will definitely go back. Our server was lovely and while I never take the time to write reviews, this time I knew i had to.
Dear Janice, Thank you for your wonderful review, me and all the team at Laurence and Chico Cafe appreciate the feedback and it is always nice to hear from our guests. Looking forward to serve you again. Nilvia Rojo, Store Manager
Savory items were wonderful off their high-tea menu. Desserts however weren't as delicious.
Would go back for their Savory menu!
We went to Laurence & Chico for Mother's Day high tea and had a lovely time! THe food was really interesting, exactly what you'd hope for!
It was outstanding.
It was quirky and fun and a little over the top, perfect for a Sunday afternoon. It was a fancy but not ostentatious, polished not stuffy.
Don’t get it why it is very popular over the internet. Definitely a no no. Food is below average. Terrible service, especially the manager. Very crowded and the tea is tasteless and very watery. $49 for 8 small pieces non-authentic pastries? Overpriced.
To the owner: if you want to run a business in the fashion industry then focus on your fashion label and stay away from the afternoon tea. Yes, there is a difference between afternoon tea and high tea. Do your homework. And your chinaware may be creative but definitely very poor quality.
If you want to find a place for photos then this may be the place. For decent food and service? Stay away from it.

Chicken Liver Prosciutto roll is not surprising. Pretty average.
The Parsnip Brown Butter Mochi cake, and the almond cookie was not yummy
Excellent service, friendly staff and magical space to high tea with friends
The food was absolutely delicious and the staffs are amazing! Looking forward to my next visit here.
Fun and quirky space. A truly unique experience in Vancouver
the place was phenomenal but the food just contradicted the beauty of the place . we order the high tea set and was excited to try it out but on my first bite, i already knew im not gonna enjoy it. Given the fact that the people on the next table were having theirs already before us and i could hear how they think of each of the items theyre having , that i could hear how they dont like most of the food. hope they focus more on food though and for real change the desserts they have . The square dessert with the caramelized sugar on it looked so pretty i thought it was gonna be so good , turned out the worst, it was so dry .i probably had a cringy face; 80% throughout the entire meal and you know what that means. On the positive side i liked that sushi looking savoury dessert wrapped with smoked fish around it and the crepe and the tea was good as well. This isnt just a hate review but a sincere constructive feedback. Hope you guys hear out your customers reviews and improve based on that as well . the service was okay but could be better , the asian girl was the only one smiling for us though and she looked new . at least that somehow gave us a lil hope lol . Anyway, really the dome shaped dessert with a bar of dark chocolate inside and white mousse on top was recommended to us by that lady as the " best one" but it was just one of the worst . most of the desserts were so dry and cold i thought they were old thats why theyre that dry . I felt like my $50 have gone to waste :(. It wouldve been a fantastic restaurant if only the food was so great .. It starts to make realize that the people only go there because of the ambiance of place . Hope you take this as one of your reference to really improve. Hope you guys have a successful business all throughout ! :)
Great experience, delicious food. Already planning to return.
I was there for high tea celebrating my sister's birthday. The staff was very welcoming and understanding as I was very late for my reservation. The food was delicious and I wish I had seconds! I was amazed by the decoration and design of the entire restaurant; very beautiful and creative. I accidentally dropped a sentimental ring that I was wearing down the drain in their "duck" washroom and I informed the staff right away. The waitress was very kind and helpful, getting all my information and said she will try her best to retrieve it. About 15 minutes later, a couple of their maintenance guys arrived and I got my ring back! Talk about speedy service! This was by far my most memorable and best high tea experience. Lawrence and Chico, you guys are amazing.
Great experience. High tea is a work of art. Check out the bathrooms. Too cool
Came here for high tea for my birthday and had a wonderful experience :) service was great and the food was delicious! So many wonderful teas to choose from. Will be coming back here again
Great place to spend a few hours with girlfriends over tea. The decor is fun, and quirky. Afternoon tea is creative, not the traditional cucumber sandwiches, the scone is only one bite, no clotted cream :( The milk is warm, which shows attention to detail. The tea cup handle is awkward to hold. Tea selection is limited and nothing special.
Laurence & Chico is by far the best afternoon tea my friend & I have had! We enjoy the whole concept of high tea, so trying this place was a must for us & we are so glad that we did! Delicious food & beautiful presentation, worth the $49/person. We had two servers, one of them was rushing us a little bit when we were taking pictures but it wasn’t too bothersome. Would highly recommend.
Very nicely decorated. Everything looks so special. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. We had the high tea set and it looks wonderful and taste great too!
We celebrated a birthday here in the middle of the day on a Tuesday. We were given time warnings despite the fact that 80% of the tables were empty. I found that to dampen the appeal a lot. The food was not stellar. A lot of it was actually really fishy. The price differed from that listed online by about $5.00. However, it was picture pretty that I give them big credits for.
It was a very unique cafe. However, the food was sub par, the server forgot about our group and it was quite expensive. I would recommend Neverland tea or Mon petit culliere instead.
The staff was fantastic and our reservations was after the hours changed for the afternoon tea but they were able to accommodate us no problem even with our Pescatarian diets. The ambiance of the place is on point and everything was picture perfect, I was impressed how comfy those big canopy chairs are. I’m drooling just thinking about the food again and I love that they steamed the milk separately for our tea. I will say the only thing that I would change is wait until the tea steeps more before pouring the first cup.
Overall great staff, great ambiance with wonderful prepped finger foods to match the flavourful teas! Would definitely recommend!
