Food prepared at Le Baratin is indeed classic with a modern twist. Classic in a sense of ‘old school’: our sauces are all made in-house, with a veal-based stock. These days, that is very rare. Jean likes the good old way of preparing food - truly, the proper way! Moreover, there is not a bistro in France that doesn’t serve at least 2 out of the 3 desserts we offer: Tarte Tatin, Mousse au Chocolat, and Creme Caramel.
For lunch, the Croque Monsieur is a must-have. French peasant, or street food, is uniquely reinvented here.
Our wine list is mid-priced and extensively curated from France; we offer the best value for the best price. Or, try any of our other cocktails!
Great food but so noisy in such a small space could barely carry on a conversation with the person sitting directly in front of me at a table for 2. Had to keep asking them to repeat and speak loudly. Maybe midweek wd be better than a Fri..
Service was amazing but the food was... okay
This is one of the most charming and delicious places to eat in Toronto.
Always sensational ....never fails to impress
New menu items
Vibrant and welcoming even on a Tuesday
The celeriac salad is magnifique!
Go easy on the cumin
Small intimate restaurant with a fun vibe and good food.
I still can't stop thinking about the wonderful dish I had last night at Le Baratin. The swordfish was cooked perfectly, and the boursin melting on top of it made the whole thing heavenly. I loved the taste of the ratatouille sitting below, absorbing the flavour of the fish. And excellent service too! We're looking forward to our next meal at your beautiful restaurant.
It’s been our favourite date spot for 2 years and they made Jordan’s birthday celebration extra special!
It's hard to recommend this restaurant - it is so wonderful it means I might have trouble getting a reservation down the road! But I will continue to do so. :)
Best french restaurant in Toronto.
The outstanding was perfect.
Cute little spot. Food was good, service was good. It was extremely loud when we visited, can be hard to have a conversation. Also the tables are quite cramped together, I think this contributes to the noise because you're essentially sitting right beside another table with barely enough room for a person to fit between the tables. Value was pretty average, it was about $140 before tip for two people (we shared a starter and shared dessert). Overall would come back but probably would plan to visit at a less busy time as the noise was a bit annoying.
food is delicious, very nice french ambiance, definitely recommend to others
Horrible! Rude, pretentious, did not honour open table reservation and ruined our evening celebrating my mother's end of chemo. Felt very hurt by their attitude and now being rudely harassed on Facebook by a staff member. What a horrible experience through and through, and such a shame. Looked and smelled delicious, and in our neighbourhood, wanted to be a fan.
Go!
We had an excellent experience at the restaurant. The aesthetic was very nice, the food was fantastic, the prices were reasonable and the staff were on point (and actually French, which I appreciated as a Frenchman). We’ve been to several French restaurants and would highly recommend Le Baratin to anyone, we look forward to coming back.
The food, wine and service were all wonderful and three of us agreed. I love this restaurant and will go back....however the ambiance of the lovely space was ruined by a very loud (couldn't here my table mates speak) and obnoxious self-entitled group of young women who acted like they were in a club on Richmond street partying it up. Other patrons did not look impressed either. I finally had to go over and ask them to bring it down a notch - worked for about 15 minutes...Think I'll take the early sitting next time.
Absolutely a must-try. May even become a regular go-to. Food is phenomenal and service is amazing
Excellent French food in a comfortable environment. Prices are reasonable and the service is exceptional.
Warm and welcoming vibe, delicious food, exceptionally friendly and accommodating service. The wait staff were so wonderful with our child too.
Excellent food and very good service, can’t wait to go again! Will certainly recommend it!
Simple plates made with creativity and taste! We had the endive & beets salad to start and it had much more than that: subtle touch of pommegrenade and pumpkinseeds brings it to a summit!
The butternut soup with it topinanbours was perfectly balanced with spices. The navarin d'agneau was also a real treat, so tender and perfumed. The service is friendly and very knowledgeable, especially about wine. The restaurant being not very large, the atmosphere remains to a human scale : soft but lively. We'll sure go back!
We love this neighbourhood resto. Food is always excellent, as is the service. It feels like we're in France. Not the cheapest but worth every penny.
the food was soooooo yummy
Tres bon restaurant . Excellent service . Tres bon rapport qualité prix
Great experience, excellent food and service; complimentary birthday dessert a nice touch - will definitely come back
This is an outstanding restaurant! The food is always adventurous and exquisitely prepared. The service is attentive and extremely flexible. The wine list is very good value and of high quality
Steak and frites is always amazing! Best in the city! Love this adorable neighbourhood bistro!:). My favourite go to restaurant.
I suggested Le Baratin to two friends who had never heard of it. It was to celebrate a “marker Birthday” — one of theirs! And they left raving about it - very impressed. Thanks Le B....nothing out of the ordinary that night .. just the usual extraordinary experience!
Absolutely fantastic food, wine and ambiance. They had a fixed price menu of 4 courses for $50 and with a glass of wine $59. It's absolutely worth it! Been there twice and will for sure come back! Highly recommend.
a true bistro offering a great meal and wine at a fair price
Great night. Cocktails were delicious. Apps were yummyz We had the wrong main delivered to us and after having taken one bite the server rushed over and informed us of the mistake and asked if i wanted the correct meal (i didn’t because it too was delicious) and then he immediately told us we’d get free dessert. So he recommended his two favourite desserts and we weren’t disappointed. So good. The atmosphere is cozy and it was a great Friday night out despite the dish mistake. Will recommend to others and I’d like to try out the brunch. Will be back soon.
as outstanding as ever - terrific food in a joyous atmosphere for a great price. A gem.
Impeccable food, wine and service. Best French cuisine / price value in the city
The waiters are super kind
Very good food
Great food and great staff.
Very nice evening.
It would have been nice to let my husband know wine bottles were half price on Tuesday right away. Too bad we did not take advantage of that special! Otherwise super nice staff and great atmosphere.
Le Baratin was the choice to experience french cuisine prepared authentically with full flavours, creamy sauces and tastes. We felt like regulars with a warm welcome and attentive service. A lively bistro with good value exceeding expectations. Will be back!
Nice authentic french fare that impressed my French bf. It’s not too flamboyant or pretentious but honest good food. Solid dessert and good wine suggestions too!
Best restaurant in Toronto
We have recommended Le Baratin on social media. Lovely place, great service and home cooking.
