Food prepared at Le Baratin is indeed classic with a modern twist. Classic in a sense of ‘old school’: our sauces are all made in-house, with a veal-based stock. These days, that is very rare. Jean likes the good old way of preparing food - truly, the proper way! Moreover, there is not a bistro in France that doesn’t serve at least 2 out of the 3 desserts we offer: Tarte au citron, Mousse au Chocolat, and Crème Brulée.
For Brunch, the Croque Monsieur is a must-have. French peasant, or street food, is uniquely reinvented here.

Love this little gem of a place. Amazing food and the friendliest service. We'll be back often!
Love this place! I’ve been there 4 times in the past two months!
It is a great place, very cozy and warm. Food is very good and waiters are nice and not too pushy.
Le Baratin continues to be a very sympa French bistro, with reliable fare, a good wine selection, and very pleasant service.
Where to begin. The space itself is so warm and cozy yet doesn’t feel cramped at all. It has a lovely upscale bistro flair that’s only accentuated by the fact that all the servers also speak French.
The cocktail list has so many classic French drinks and are very reasonably priced considering their strength. No watering down here at all!
The charcuterie plate was incredible with very generous portions. The homemade rillette (picture duck confit, but with the meat shredded so it’s easy to spread on bread) and pâté were fantastic, while the mushrooms and snails were some of the best I have ever had - so tender.
I had the duck while my dining partner had the lamb. Both cuts of meat were juicy, tender, and perfectly cooked. The duck came with some of the tastiest scalloped potatoes I’ve ever had.
Definitely finish with the crème brûlée or chocolate mousse with amaretto.
I can’t wait to come back
High quality, simple and delicious traditional french cuisine in an inviting, low key space. Perfect.
We have enjoyed going to Le Baratin for about 4 years. Love the food and the staff and the intimate space!! Again, they did not disappoint-Bravo!!😋
This was one of the best meals I've had. I also loved that it seemed that all Front of House was French, aussi.
Food was delicious and extremely well priced.
Thank you for a lovely evening!
Both the food and drinks were excellent. We particularly liked the appetizers (gravlax, calamari, charcuterie), the main (the beef cheek was amazing) and the cocktails (love the French Connection).
Thank you for making our evening so enjoyable!
Great food, great service, great atmosphere, will definitely go back again.
It was good experience and foods quality were really good . I highly recommend this restaurant. And I must come again :-)
Spectacular experience. Everything was amazing. The portions are very well served, with delicious food and great service.
Great service, delicious food, limited choices, fun atmosphere
Server was attentive and it is was a small quiet environment for dinner. Excellent choice of options.
We took my mother for her birthday and had a wonderful evening. The food at Le Baratin is always wonderful, and the dessert special that night - raspberry mille feuille - was a perfect ending to our meal.
Everything here was great. The service was impeccable and the food delicious!
Not only is the food fabulous, hitting the right notes and so French without being chi-chi, the service is hors pair, and ambience just perfect. Couldn’t have chosen a better place for an impromptu surprise b-day dinner between friends. Merci Laura.
I went there for brunch and dinner, and I was immensely pleased with the attention put in every dish and efficiency and personality of the waiters. And the cherry on top, wines you can hardly find anywhere else! Highly recommend!
You know a restaurant is something special when you feel like you've been transported to another country and city in this case Montmartre Paris...every little detail to perfection. The puff pastry topping on the deconstructed escargot and mushrooms..the moules as good as you'll find in Belgium. The duck breast so soft and beautifully arranged that even a confit fan like my GF loved. Lamb shank so soft and buttery. I must also mention the scalloped potatoes layered like lasagna. Service impeccable without being intrusive at all. Americano and chocolate mousse to finish an extraordinary dinner in a cute and cozy bistro ambience. Great mine list too with 1/2 litre choices for those like us who don't drink a bottle but 2 glasses is too little. Fantastique!!
We had an amazing dinner last night. The restaurant is very clean and cozy, and the staff friendly and efficient. Our sincere compliments to the chef. The food was delicious and the portions were filling for a very affordable price. Highly recommend !!
Le Baratin is just about as good as it gets. Genuine French cooking, rich in flavours/textures and aromas. A nightly fish dish (no matter what kind) is always delicious, and quite frankly, hard to come by in most restaurants in Toronto.
I'm a regular, and have not been disappointed once in my 3+ years of dining.
When I crave a memorable meal, I head to Le Baratin. Service is outstanding. The kitchen is dedicated...brilliant! It's a place you'll return to, with meals and drinks you'll savour for a long time. I love it.
Excellent, non pretentious French food. Will be back.
Felt uncomfortable with the close seating but otherwise food and service great.
Great service, food was very good and vine and beer selection was great.
I have recommended Baratin to friends because I think their food is exceptional, excellent value for money, and the staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. We tried out multiple items on the menu, and every flavour was distinct and delicious. Ended the night with a blackberry earl grey sorbet that my 8 year old described as tasting like roses and sunbeams :) We have a lovely time.
Le Baratin is one of our favorite "go to" places in our general neighborhood. We have been enjoying it for years and expect to for many more. It never disappoints!
Fabulous meal. The tarte tatin could have been a little more caramelized but otherwise perfect.
Le Baratin is a real gem. Delicious, beautifully-presented food and drinks, excellent service, cozy ambiance for an intimate dinner or gathering. Can’t recommend more highly.
Another fantastic meal….Great atmosphere and impeccable service!
Best French food in the city! Absolutely our favourite restaurant.
My wife and I cook a lot. And when we eat out we’re accustomed to disappointment. This restaurant was very friendly and welcoming. Compared to other French bistros in Toronto, this one lacked some of the charm, but the food and beverages were competant.
Outstanding in every way. Delicious food. A fantastic server! So much personality. We had a wonderful dinner, first time out since COVID! Highly recommend.
This is our favourite local restaurant - our go-to for family celebrations or dinner with friends. It never disappoints!
Authentic French cuisine, nice neighbourhood restuarant
Somehwat hidden from the city centre but well drive the drive for great food
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wine
Reasonable price for a nice selection of french wine
Great food, great price, wonderful service. This place is really a gem.
Le Baratin is one of my favourite gems in the city. Discovered it over the summer and it’s become a regular spot of mine. The food is superb and Ryan’s service is always delightful! I always look forward to trying their specials. 😍🤤
Arrived shortly before close, staff was very friendly and food was delicious. Cute environment, perfect for a date.
Awesome experience, staff very knowledgeable about wine pairings
Absolutely traditional delicious food. Beautiful wine paring. What was even lovelier was that we could talk and converse with each other. The music was quiet in the background and everyone was having a wonderful time. We will be coming back again very soon. Thank you!
Wonderful meal at Le Baratin for a friend's birthday. Great food, service, and ambience. We will definitely be back!
