After taking the Parisian dining scene by storm, acclaimed chef Daniel Rose brings home the James Beard "Best New Restaurant" award for his very first stateside restaurant. Located in SoHo, the space is a gracious modern nod to fine European gastronomy, with crisp linens, fliberking candles, and whitewashed brick. Updating classical French cuisine with charm and verve, Rose shrinks the intercontinental divide separating the City of Light and the Big Apple, proving that the true essence of fine French dining can thrive in any time zone.

The rabbit dish was a delight with 3 different preparations. The north was very rich in flavor. The lobster was perfectly cooked and also delicious. As always the sole was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. we were all too full for dessert. Natalia, our server was delightful and very patient with us , despite our guests arriving late and at different times. we will certainly be back when next in NYC>

We have dined here many times before. It’s one of the most beautiful dining rooms in NYC but the quality of the food preparations has declined significantly. The quenelles were bland and the sauce Americaine was watery and not tasty at all. As if they forgot to put the butter in it. The Dover sole was about as mediocre as could be flooded in brown butter with too many capers. Forty dollars for 2 white asparagus cut in half!

All the food looked beautiful and tasted delicious. I esp. loved the Quenelle even though the sauce was pretty cold. Maybe heat up the plates. They brought out the wrong dish for one of our fellow diners, but they more than made up for it: the replacement came within a couple of minutes, they took if off the check, and gave us some extras for dessert. The leeks were a work of art. Service was extremely friendly and professional and our wine selection (one of the less expensive bottles from the Jura) worked well with all the courses. The dining room was noisier than I expected, but at least people were having a great time. I went with two young friends, and it was their first Michelin star experience, and they were pretty blown away so all in all a very positive experience. Not understanding however why they can't call for a cab -- that was surprising,.

An Unforgettable Anniversary Dinner at Le Coucou, But for All the Wrong Reasons My partner and I were eager to celebrate our anniversary at Le Coucou, anticipating an exquisite dining experience. Sadly, the evening was plagued with disappointments from overpriced food, poorly combined ingredients, and rushed service. The first dish, lobster with sauce au poivre, left us perplexed as the rich, spicy sauce completely overpowered the delicate lobster. The combination failed to create a harmonious dish, leaving us wondering about the chef's decision-making. Our order of pomme dauphine was equally disappointing, as the dish arrived excessively fried and dripping in oil. The heavy, greasy texture detracted from what could have been a delightful side dish. We also tried the sole meunière, which was regrettably too salty. The absence of any accompanying side dish further highlighted the dish's imbalance, making it a less-than-pleasant addition to our meal. Despite informing the restaurant about our anniversary celebration when making the reservation, there was no acknowledgment from the staff during our dinner. This oversight was particularly disheartening, as we had hoped for a memorable evening. The service further marred our experience, with the staff being overly hasty in clearing our plates and rushing us through our courses. This rapid pace made it difficult to savor and enjoy our meal fully. In summary, our anniversary dinner at Le Coucou was an underwhelming experience. The combination of overpriced dishes, poor ingredient pairings, and hurried service left us feeling let down on our special evening.

Got our favorite table right in view of the beautifully orchestrated open kitchen. Amazing cocktails, the beef tartare with caviar and the halibut were so deliciously refined! Atmosphere muted and elegant….a real gem all around with service to rival the best.

Flew over 1,200 miles to NYC just to eat at Le Coucou. Participated in the “very coucou dinner,” and was blown away by abundance of food, the quality and presentation, as well as the interaction and knowledge of service personnel. I am confident stating that the oysters and beef filet were the best I’ve experienced, anywhere.

Dover sole tasted like trout and was overcooked. Dinner for four was $725 which included 3 glasses of wine, three manhattans & one shared dessert. The Quenell was surprisingly outstanding.

Loved the ambience and food. All my food was wonderful including the amuse bouche. My favorite items were the flaming pineapple dessert and Folies Bergere cocktail. I was surprised some people weren’t more dressed up. It was rather dark so this wasn’t obvious but some were a bit too casual for fine dining. The service was very attentive and my special table request was provided.

Mediocre food in a beautiful setting. Stomach rumblings seem to confirm my initial suspicions that the fish may not have been freshest. Service could not wait to get rid of us as our check was delivered by our second spoonful of dessert. Diners deserve better at this price point.

Le Coucou is an absolutely beautiful restaurant. Everyone that worked there was extremely attentive and friendly. The food was very good and the extra offerings from the kitchen was a nice touch. The menu was not very extensive (I was disappointed that there were no salads to enjoy as an appetizer and no beef bourguignon) and portion sizes were very small. My husband had the halibut which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had the beef filet which was excellent but for $78 I would have expected more than 2 small medallions of beef (each the size of an Oreo).

Amazing restaurant for date night! The service is one of the best we have ever had- from the bartender to the servers and the assistant servers. The food is great, too. Loved the chickpea fries, the homard appetizer, the potatoes with oxtail and the chocolate dessert with gold leaf on top.
