We were seated by the window, and there is very little space between the table and the chairs at the bar. I would recommend asking for an interior table. The food was very good. I had the veal tomahawk, and my wife had the fussili with shrimp.
The service was sub-par - mistakes with the orders , long wait between courses, not remembering who ordered what - I had had 3 good experiences before and I was very sorry about this because of the friends I invited - it made me feel like I failed them
Took a half hour to get drinks and the restaurant was not busy. That should have been the first sign, but we ignored it. Ordered the onion soup and oysters as appetizers and both were great. We both had steak frites for dinner, one steak was fine the other was very over cooked, so it was sent back. The second one came back raw, squishy, and cold. Did not eat it, it was sent back. Definitely would not recommend
Very good food... the moules frites where excellent.
Extremely convenient location. very good food and captures the Paris bistro atmosphere without feeling like a copy.
Duck confit was very good. Waiter was warm and friendly. Loved the bright upbeat decor.
A good venue for a relaxed business lunch. Excellent Salmon tartare, prepared perfectly.
Overall, Le Pois Penché is a pleasant expérience: the quality of the food, the nice ambiance with a great singer, the decoration, the well mannered hostesses at the entrance. The only drawback is within the service: our waiter kind but is is of average standards, does not explain well the menu for certain items, bring out the plates but short of ustensiles, and the last draw is to request us to move from our table after the main meals, to another table at the far end as we request some coffee and dessers. The reason is he need a table for a group coming for dinner, and it was about 9:30 PM. we left the restaurant about 20 minutes after, and our former table was still empty. I find it very lack of manners, especially when it is called a French Restaurant. I thought this French restaurant should train their waiter staff with more manner according to its high standard. My two companions don't take this lak of manner as an offense, But I do, as I have lived in Europe for more than 6 years, and travelled international for business intensively over the last 40 years. It is not the first time I come to this restaurant, and it was me to recommend it to my business friends to try this place, and so the nice meeting celebration turn out on a little sour note for me.
Le service était bien mais un peu snob. Nous n'avons pas apprécié que la machine suggère 30% de pourboire comme un premier choix. La nourriture était bonne de type bistrot français. Le décor et l'ambiance étaient très bien.
We had the duck special, also the ceviche special, excellent, definitely worth going back to. Would recommend.
Service is bad and food is not worth the money we paid for.
Very good food. Salmon and fish soup was great. I just regret I was served food with cheese which I can not have and I was not told my food had Parmesan in it
Overall very nice
Food, service, ambiance, all together were fantastic! We'll definately come back again!
Very good seafood. Delicious foie gras. Good service.
Very classic French bistro
It was a beautiful evening. The food was stupendous, The mood was romantic and the live singer had a beautiful voice. I will definitely be going there again.
Excellent ans beautiful resto
Great decor and good selection on the menu. We had a good round table for our group of 8. My husband and I had already eaten at this restaurant with great satisfaction.
Excellent all around
Food and staff were extremely helpful for a non French speaker
We loved the ambience, the service was great but while the food was good, it wasn’t worth what we paid for it. Not even close!
A delightful place for Sunday brunch. I would go back for Champagne and seafood.
Wonderful service, wonderful food, great live music...it was the best experience we had in Montreal as a family. Many places in Montreal were just way too fancy and adventurous to bring kids to. Also, I was nervous we didn’t bring dressy enough clothes for some places. We stayed around the corner at Le Mount Stephen which is very upscale. This was just the right amount of fancy and casual and we all enjoyed our food very much! Highly recommend the tartare with truffle, the duck confit, and the chocolate mousse topped with a chocolate ganache and carmel popcorn—genius! The crunch was perfect. The service was highly attentive, but not overly intrusive. The meal was timed perfectly. They listened to our requests to have sauces left off of the duck and steak frites for our kids and it came out exactly as they wanted it. Whew! Our kids (10 and 12) had been driving us crazy all day, and we all left with smiles and were happy we came. Thank you for a wonderful evening and memory... merci beaucoup!
Just awesome. Authentic cuisine. Nice setting. Good service
I invited a group of friends coming from different places in Canada. They were impressed.
The evening was perfect. The food was exquisite. The ambiance was very nice. The service was outstanding.
A wonderful French Bistro dining experience. Seafood was fresh and delicious, vegetables were perfectly cooked and flavorful. Ambience was delightful with a singer who was exceptionally talented and not distracting or loud. Service was excellent and not overly obtrusive. Decor is pleasant, manager was present and helpful. All great.
Le tartare de saumon était tout simplement delicieux. Le service était absolument parfait, efficace, attentionné et idéal. SVP EN FAIRE PART AI SERVEUR.
great ambiance, well trained courteous staff serving in both languages. Our table had a double platter of all three oyster selections, beef tartare, meules et frites and soup du jour. Everything fresh, well prepared and made our taste buds dance. The 4 of us love Le Pois Penche!
Very nice table by the window. Server was very nice but lacked a little knowledge of menu items. Food was excellent, and well presented. AC came on in the middle of dinner which was quite cold. Did not last long so must have been a malfunction of the settings. Drinks at the start Ns coffee at the end of the meal were both a little slow in coming.
Came in at 6, the experience is kinda meh. Food was decent, but not amazing. The seafood platter was visually amazing, and the shrimp / lobster was tasty, oysters were super fresh too. The clams and muscles were a bit dry.
In any other city, it would be a high 4/5, in Montreal, this is a bit below average.
Perfect for a Romantic Date ! Live music on Fridays.
Parfait! Service impeccable, nourriture succulente!
Very nice Valentines dinner, friendly wait staff, good food.
This is a decent place but nothing to brag about. Food was excellent in taste and presentation but very much overpriced! The service was decent but not extraordinary. I would not recommend this place for the simple fact that Montreal has too many great places to choose from to settle for mediocre ambiance and service with an overpriced tab!
It's one of our favourite restaurant. We live close by and come on a regularly. The oyster bar is outstanding price quality.
Great restaurant, great menu for St-Valentine's day. Stronly recommend it.
I know that it would be a great date night place to go with my wife. The food is exceptional and so is the service. I really enjoyed my experience and meal there!!
Wow ! Belle place ! Nourriture parfaite❤❤❤
Great food & amazing service!
