Our two-story fish emporium elevates the 40-year legacy of our original location in Chestnut Hill (a few doors down from where we are now). Here we feature a large raw bar, open kitchen and glass-enclosed lounge. In warmer months, we retract the lounge’s glass walls and ceiling for drinking under the sun or stars. And we open our patio, overlooking Hammond Pond, for al fresco dining. Join us upstairs at our restaurant or shop our fish market on the first floor.

    The blackened tuna Tataki with seaweed salad was perfectly done, very delicious and the presentation was beautiful. And my old Maine freind was delighted a=with the boiled lobster served cracked an ready to pick the shell clean of all the succulent meat. Our waitstaff was friendly and attentive and, although the place was crowded, the ambiance was friendly and fun.

    My starter were very good…Clam chowder, clams and sushi roll. The entree was not edible. The Cod was unseasoned , dry and tasteless. The Jasmine rice was just as bad. It will be a long time before we consider going back there again.

    Enjoyed Sunday lunch/dinner with a couple of friends. Love how consistent Legal Seafoods has been over the decades. Very good quality fish. The Branzino with mashed potatoes and braised fennel was excellent. There was no luncheon menu on Sunday so prices were higher than anticipated. Atmosphere is lovely in the lounge with floor to celing windows that overlook The Street and nearby river.

    Our waitress Jordan was a delight. She had a sparkling personality and made the dining experience such a pleasure. All of the servers worked as a team. Our salad was amazingly fresh and cold, our entrees piping hot and cooked to perfection and the chocolate pudding cake recommended by Jordan was absolutely incredible. This is our 2nd time back to Legal and we are thrilled that the transition to the 'new' Legal has been so successful.

    ZERO star if I could. Outdoor patio seating: Made reservation at Chestnut Hill location only because of their outdoor patio seating. Patio closed. Cleanliness: puddle of rusty water and crumbs all over under table, sticky chairs. Disgusting. Obviously the restaurant is not inspecting its place for readiness to serve customer. I uploaded a photo of this dirty seating area but Opentable is not posting this photo with my review! Food: Crabmeat Roll $34- Washed down crabmeat, I mean literal crabmeat on roll, not even the saltiness of real crabmeat !! Bland is an understatement. One bite and had to call our waiter. Their coleslaw tastes better than crabmeat roll. $34 dollars !!! Grilled Colossal Shrimp $27 - What Colossal?? 5 pieces of Tiny average shrimp with rice and fries to make up for the price. Again uploaded a photo of this shrimp dish but it mysteriously has disappeared as well. Don't be fooled by their patio - lacking everything else. And OpenTable - you should not be screening and selectively posting/not posting photos uploaded by diners with their honest opinion.

    Hello jk77, I apologize that you were disappointed in your dining experience with us. Unfortunately, during rainy weather, we do not seat the patio, there is no protection from the rain. Because of the humidity, some of the furniture in our all-glass lounge area can feel a little sticky. The crab roll is meant to be simple, try the lobster roll it has much more flavor.     Few things a tad over seasoned but all in all though an excellent dinner. I also want to say the young lady who was our waitress was excellent and caring. She checked on us but didn’t pester and before ordering both my guest & I had questions about a few things on the menu and wine lists and she helped us in making our decisions both as to what to eat & a wine that we’d like that would compliment but not overwhelm the dinner.

    One of my worst experiences in a long time. First, the host lied to me an said the Booths were only for large parties. My wife and I are 6’ and I’m 6’4”, and our son is tall as well. As we were going to our table, set for 4, we walked past multiple booths with 2-3 ppl seated. Then the service was way below par. The server seemed to be new, but that wasn’t the issue. The server, Nicole decided to largely ignore us and focus on her other tables. When my wife was ready to pay the bill, she didn’t come over to the table for approx 10min. The only saving grace was the the food runners were very good, and the food was prepared well.

I can only hope that the host misunderstood and was referring to the large booths in the lounge which were being used for the larger parties of 7and 8 which were coming in. It sounds like your server may have been overwhelmed with her tables and for this I apologize as well. We strive to make each guest's experience here to be one which they will remember.     Something about this location makes the place feel cheap and ordinary—the presentation, the menu, the plates and cutlery—like I’m at the local diner. Maybe because, after all, this is American. If I had to choose again between Legal and Limani Chestnuthill, I’d choose Limani. Them Greeks got the Aesthetics and Pagan Pizazz right. I was not inspired to take any photos.

If you are looking for a wonderful seafood experience next time please feel free to dine with us. If you are looking for a more cultural experience then Limani is probably more your style.     Food quality is poor. Fish is only 3 or 4 options. This place is not the place I used to like. McDonald's has better fish

    From the receptionist onward, we enjoyed the evening. Of course the food was the main attraction however the energy of the waitstaff was encouraging. All this made me want to return for another good time.

    Prices up, food selection and quality down. We have been going to this location and its prior site for many years. Since the takeover, the menu and the recipes have changed, and generally not for the better. The trout I had was tasteless and pasty in texture, not what I had many times in the past. The batter on my wife's shrimp was heavier than it used to be and not as tasty. Even the rolls have shrunk in size. Combine those factors with a noticeable price increase and this location, at least, has fallen far on my list of local favorites. Maybe Natick or another location would be better; we certainly enjoyed it more there a couple of months back.

    We have been eating at Legal Seafood Chestnut Hill for years. We went last night and the food was fair at best. We have been dissatisfied with the quality of food the last few times. We will not be going back. I had mediterranean swordfish dish. It was bland. I used to love that dish. The service was great and so were drinks but the food was underwhelming. For the price I expect a good meal.

    Our waiter was excellent. He was attentive and friendly, and he remembered us from a year ago when we ate there after moving our son into college. We had a delicious meal and everyone took care to make sure my son's food was prepared safely. (He has celiac)
