Food was great, service was great, but you walk by this beautiful restaurant, make a booking a month in advance and then when you arrive you get taken to some back room, no windows, beside the emergency door... Server was kind enough to move us, but won't be in a hurry to go back to roll the dice on paying a hundred bucks to eat beside the stairwell.
Food service was very slow and they forgot to bring my coffee. Place was very busy though so maybe that was the reason. Would go back.
As a former Hospitality expert, my experience, knowledge and skills allow me to pick out the small things when going out to enjoy a nice dinner, or event. Being in the Food industry myself and from an Argentina background, I always wanted to try out Lena and after a while, my wife and I decided to take the leap and try Lena out.
Firstly, I was not impressed with the host at the door, no smile, no enthusiasm, it seems like she did not want to be there. They placed us at the back end beside another couple. The lighting was low, but it was quite loud and I could not even conversate clearly with my wife.
Secondly, the appetizer, 3 empanadas that were actually reheated instead of made fresh. And the chimichurri was spicy. ( my own award winning condiments taste better).
The malbec wine was awesome as usually.
- garlic shrimp barely had any meat, so my wife had to eat the additional food on plate.
- veal milanesa watery meat, no salt or seasoning. Decorative plate, but why do you put anchioves on meat???
- host lacks enthusiasm, and she failed to have eye contact with customers.
- host standing against wall at host desk while waiting for customers.
Food and service was fantastic, would definitely revisit.
Great service. food delicious and fun to explore. Music too loud. Could not have a conversation. Music can be “ energetic “ as your review only allows, without overwhelming guests. I observed a table of 8 reduced to 4 pairs in conversation as it was impossible to hear anyone but the person beside you
The appetizers were really good (Chipas, Shishito Peppers, and Burrata). The mains were okay, nothing to write home about (Salmon, Organic Chicken).
The service was very weird, and lacking. Our server left without even telling us or transferring our table, as we were eating our mains. I had to ask the bartender to clear our dirty plates well after we had finished eating. He reluctantly allowed us to order coffee and dessert.
I may go again, but only for small bar bites, knowing that I should t expect much from the service.
We were there for dinner and have no complaints. Great service, good meal, bright airy space with lots of kind of neat details that remind you that it's located in the old Simpson's building. Feels a little bit more interesting than the run of pubs and fast casual places in the area, so definitely worth a visit.
The food was fine, the service was ok, but the portions were very small. For the price, I was expecting much more flavor and quantity.
Leña made our wedding anniversary so special. The food was phenomenal and the service was outstanding. Can’t wait to go back.
Lena was recommended to us by someone and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing and great portions and the service was second to none. The bar area downstairs looked fun but we chose the dining room upstairs which was quieter and I'm glad we did. We had the empanadas for an appetizer. The sauce was a bit on the spicy sided but very delicious. There were three which was perfect for sharing. I had the Roasted Cod and my husband had the Octopus. Both were delicious but the Octopus was amazing. I would definitely go back to try some of the other menu items. Service was also impecable, we must have had 4 different people serving us. Great spot.
We have been planning to try the restaurant for some time now, excited at the idea of the elevated Latin-American cuisine and finally made the reservations for my husband’s birthday. Unfortunately, our enthusiastic expectations weren’t met. The décor was interesting, however the food unimpressive, pricey and quite forgettable (Veal Milanesa and Ricotta Cannelloni). We also weren’t too impressed with the service as our appetizer never arrived. Definitely won’t be returning.
not for a business dinner, would be fun for a friends/before theatre bite
Best meal we’ve had in a long time. The appetizers were outstanding, service was very prompt and courteous. Everyone was very pleased with their choice of meal. We will definitely be back again soon.
Food was good but not outstanding and it was wildly over priced. The service was absolutely outstanding and you really feel that the staff wants to ensure you leave very happy.
We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation and were seated immediately. Food was excellent and priced accordingly. Server was friendly very helpful explaining dishes and wines. Had great service, would definitely recommend this Restaurant.
I would absolutely recommend Lena with one caveat: it is very loud when full, which it was when I was there. Max table size should be 4 if you want to have any decent conversation.
Very stylish inside, great menu choices, so much flavour, can't wait to go back again even though it's loud!
The service and ambiance were really good. The cook on my cod was also perfect. However, the rest of my cod dish was far too salty.
It was ok.... they seated us with lots of people, asked to move to somewhere more quiet. service was spotty, waiter did not come right away, did not ask us for more drinks. Fusilli was a small plate for what you pay. Octopus was grilled nicely.
Empanadas delicious. Churros expensive but delicious.
Food was good but not good value.
It was smaller than we anticipated the food was pretty good.
Loved Lena Restaurante. We got there early and had a drink in the bar. The ambiance is great, it has a trendy vibe that was definitely appealing. My least fav part were the cocktails. They were very bland lacking some umph. They needed more infused fresh herbs or something. Once we moved into the dining side that more than made up for the drinks. Our server Stefanie was amazing , super friendly and informative. She helped us with the wine selection, as well as menu selections. We ate upstairs. Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re ever in the Toronto area!
Went for lunch and had the chimichurri steak sandwich and wife got a salad entree. Even for lunch, the sandwich was laughable as far as size and underwhelming taste. The salad was OK but not worth the price.
Ambiance was nice and service was good but food was forgettable, at least the 2 items that we ordered.
For the same price, you would get more value at Richmond Station across the street.
We both had the most deliciously tender ribeye steak, it just melted in my mouth and the chimichurri sauce was fantastic. Great night!
Great atmosphere. The layout is hard to manage because there are different levels but it has a great ambiance and the wait staff is very professional.
The food was delicious and the staff was incredible. Loved the ambiance and how everybody was friendly. The meals were beyond expectations, the presentation outstanding and the portions were a good size. I want to come back to try at dinner time!!!
The bonus was the 1/2 price wine promotion.
The food was okay. Definitely not a WOW that we were hoping for. Wine was served 5 minutes AFTER we got our main course.
Overall, not impressed, and I have been to lots of restaurants. Would not recommend
Food just okay. Chicken tasteless with no flavour. Shrimp dish was good. Wait staff poor. Manager very nice but won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
It was our first time at Leña and we can say that what we love the most was the service and the sangria. Our entrees and appetizers were good, however the chicken was lukewarm which we found kinda odd, but the taste was decent, cannelloni was exquisite. We'll be back to!
Food was amazing! Definitely recommend to try the churros for desert!
Sunday brunch was fantastic - avocado toast was amazing !
I booked this restaurant after seeing its web site and didn't know that it's owned by the same group that Canoë where we dined the night before.
Wow same original and amazing "cuisine which gave us again a very good evening....at more reasonable price.
Design, food , wines, atmosphere terrific.
So if you pass in Toronto downtown, don't miss it.
Nice looking restaurant but the noise level is terrible. You can barely hear your tablemates! Food was ok. We went here before seeing a play.
Great service. Amazing food and wonderful drinks!!!
was a bit loud, despite having 3 servers assigned to us, it took a long time to get our orders in. food was very good, but I found a tad on the pricey side for what your get.
I would however come back
Leña was amazing. Second time there and everything I've eaten has been outstanding. The service is great - some of the best staff I've seen. The only minor feedback is the noise level. I'd recommend installing noise panels.
Perfect dinner venue. Oysters were fabulous before main course along with a good wine that was smooth and reasonably priced. Mains were excellent. I had the cod which was done perfectly. My friend had the octopus which was outstanding. Wish I had taken pictures to show you all but I will take the next time!!!
Had a wonderful time in Lena. Had a friend visiting from out of town and they were very impressed with the food. We had the cod which was delicious and the chicken dish was a healthy portion.
Food was decent! Large portions sizes deterred us from ordering our own mains, but we did enjoy it!
Went on a Tuesday night and had half priced bottles of wine - great value there.
Wouldn't say it's a must stop, but definitely decent for the area.
Great food - fun sharing. Noise level was really high.
The beef tartare was increadable. Our waiter was amazing and recommended a wine that was by far the best wine me and my boyfriend have ever tasted.
