We were meeting friends for dinner. None of us had eaten at Lena's, so we didn't know just what to expect. Well.....it was great. The service was attentive with just the right amount of follow-up. The food was very good. And the prices were reasonable.

Our server was very nice and personable, but he appeared to not have been trained on the handheld ordering device. He appeared to key in all of our items, but one of our pizzas never arrived (he checked the device and confirmed that he never ordered it). Then it took a half hour at the end to get the bill straight. Somehow he made the device split the bill in three, which we did not request as a family dining together, and then he was unable to process the payment. Finally the credit card payment went through. Also, one of our pizzas came before out appetizers. Presumably this was the kitchen's fault, not the server's. Previously we had very good experiences in their downstairs restaurant. This was our first time upstairs. We liked the décor, but we won't be returning to the top floor anytime soon. It was not the Mother's Day experience I expected when I booked at Lena's.

the food was great, we’ve been here before and the food has always been good. one thing that really bothered me was when we got the bill and our server left on one of the drinks that we had asked to replace with a different drink. it would have been fine if she had left both drinks on the bill IF i had been able to drink both drinks but she took my first drink away after i asked for a different one because i didn’t like the first one yet she kept it on the bill. also it was kind of weird how she didn’t give us the actual bill before making us pay but i just assumed that was just how it worked here. she was nice though and i’m not really trying to complain about her it was most likely just the rules of the restaurant. i still really like it here <3

Very disappointed that half our party got their food and the second half took 30 min to get their food. My husband and I essentially split my lasagna because his food had not shown up after 15 min. For reference we were a 4 top.

Fun surprise above the pizza restaurant, one the second level was Velvet and Rye - a speakeasy vibe. Décor very appealing. Website tells of live music on Thursdays but we only got music piped in - still pleasant enough 20-40's stuff. MANY food options and specials. Overall, very pleased with the food. There were a few hiccoughs which can happen not a big deal - my Cosmo martini was made improperly (bartender 101) but manager made a proper one for me that was good. And another! Our appetizers and salads arrived at the same time. Goodness, not even enough room on the table for all the food - so we sent back the salads. The crab dip was OK but the "Giant Meatball" was really great! When the salads arrived the second time, they were very good. Eggplant Parm and Lasagna were very good. Main complaint. Service was EXTREMELY SLOW. This was a weeknight dinner, Thursday night, work the next morning. Took 3 hours for cocktail, app, salad, main, doggy bags and bill. Arrived just before 8:00pm and ended at 11:00pm. That's just TOO long. But, we will definitely try again.

Loved the ambiance. Our appetizers were awesome. My salad was a bit lacking in flavor and the drinks were hit or miss, but overall, I'd recommend this place for the service, food, and atmosphere in a heartbeat.

Lena's has always been a great neighborhood restaurant. It is a little pricey, but their food is top notch - which is great in my opinion. I would rather pay a little more for great food than eat poorly prepared meals. Their menu changes for the seasons and the beer selection is great. When the weather is good, their beer garden/patio is a nice place to sit and enjoy your meal.

This was our first visit to Lena’s and it was for a birthday dinner. Food was good, ambience was perfect - from decor to music selection. I like that they have a separate entrance to get to the Loft and the attention to all the small details as soon as you walk in to catch the lift really go a long way. Service for our main plates took far too long and took away from our overall experience. Our waiter Rod was very personable and took great time with us going over the menu and recommendations and speaking to our family on multiple occasions. I am not referring to him when I mention “service”. Prefacing this by saying we ordered everything in one shot. Rod did advise that there are two separate kitchens, one for pizza the other for standard food items and things come out staggered, however we only had one (kids) pizza in the order. Received our drinks and the kids pizza within about 10-15 minutes of being seated. After another 10 we had our first appetizer. 5-10 more we had the second kids entree and our second appetizer. We felt this pace was fine, though would have preferred and did request the kids items to hit the table at the same time. After the last app and kids meal, over 35 minutes passed before our main courses arrived. Sitting at our table for so long with purposefully half consumed apps and drinks to save room for dinner + dessert while still fairly hungry really brought the mood down. When our food did arrive it was a relief but we almost immediately asked for boxes and just got dessert to go. Rod did comp our dessert since we were celebrating a birthday, and that was appreciated. Although this dinner didn’t end on a high note I would like to give The Loft another go sometime.

This review is for the upper level “Loft” The ambience and decor and the lighting, etc. was really nice. We were very excited when we first sat down. But shortly got disappointed by the service and by the food and pitcher of sangria, on top of it all it’s pretty overpriced. Will go back just to sit at the bar and enjoy the bar. That’s it.

Absolutely loved the ambiance and the food. Our server was very kind, but I think service was a bit slow. It seemed like they were low staffed on a busy Saturday night. But I still highly recommend this place!

The main floor is painfully loud even when not crowded. We couldn’t carry on a conversation enjoyably. As a party of 4 it seemed ridiculous that 2 of us would wait so long that the other 2 were nearly finished with their meals before ours arrived. Overall, it was not worth the trip.

Lena’s was great after a long day of walking in DC. The moment we stepped in, it was like a different world! We started with drinks & appetizers then on to the main course. The pizza is to die for! The pasta was perfection! Our server Jennifer helped answer any questions we had and even made some recommendations! We would go back again (take note, we had kids with us and they ate everything on their plates!)! If you’re looking for a low-key place for drinks with fabulous decor (that they change seasonally!) or delicious food with an atmosphere conducive to your family, then look no further!

Very hot outside and the big double doors were open. So essentially no different sitting inside than sitting outside. Not good. We were seated at a table in the corner not suitable for a party of three, moved to a different table that was so rickety we felt we needed to move. Not a great ambience experience at all. But the food was great.
