Alfonso Salazar, better known as “Dirty Al” originally started shrimping as a young man with his father and 6 brothers. In 2003, he and his youngest son, Cameron, who graduated from Culinary School, transformed his bait stand into a restaurant where together they have been known for having “The World’s Best Fried Shrimp”! In 2005, his other two sons returned home to help grow the business. To this day, they now own 7 restaurants on beautiful South Padre Island and across the valley and continue to bring only the “best” Gulf Seafood to each customer’s table.

Food was excellent. Service was slow, but not the wait persons fault. They seem to be understaffed. Other restaurants in area have waitperson and then separate one for drink refills, etc. Ours was having to do it all. Only problem we had.

We had a good meal at Liam's, but it wasn't quite as good as I remember from past visits. The presentation was excellent, but the flavors were a little lacking in the main courses. The molten chocolate cake was underwhelming. That was the sentiment shared by all 6 adults at our table. I'll definitely give it another try in the future. The ambiance was as good as you could expect on a rainy night with a full restaurant.

If ever you find yourself in SPI and you want an amazing dining experience,Liam's should top the list. A sleepy, nondiscript building on the Laguna Madre side houses a juggernaut restaurant. A steak house in all its dark lit, leather booth splendor. From beginning to end, a five-star experience. The appetizer to the desert is all magnificent. We started with the calamari and a ceaser salad. Progressing to the main course, I had the boneless ribeye, and my wife and son shared the A5 wagyu. Both cooked to perfection. Both were accompanied by asparagus and a baked potato. Finishing with desert, we shared two different choices. The first coconut cream pie, and to follow "The Dragon Egg." The pie was perfect, delicate crust, airy cream filling, coconut delight!The egg was a chocolate crust over vanilla ice cream and strawberries. The waiter then pours hot fudge over it to reveal the desert. But the most stand-out aspect of the experience is the service and the view. Sunset on Laguna Madre is life changing. Some will tell you that the Florida Keys is the most majestic, whomever said that has never been to the Texas coast. Last but most certainly not least...the wait staff. The matre'de, the bus staff, the roving photographer, and ultimately the waiters. Ever attentive, always suggestive and helpful, and my most important criteria, never an empty glass. In conclusion, I am no stranger to the steakhouse experience from New York to L.A., and the King, Chicago this place can compete with them all!

Very disappointed my medium steak came out purple. Not a fun dining experience to wait and watch your partner eat. Kudos to service and ambiance.

Our favorite place on the island! The atmosphere, service and food is top notch. Great wine list and cocktails, too. We’ve been a dozen times and never once had a bad experience. Highly recommend!!

We ordered the Oscar steak and it came out raw and cold. Sent it back and the cook only cooked 1/2 of the steak and the other half was raw and the sauce was cold. We ordered chipotle corn and it was freezing cold….we didn’t want another serving. We had told the waiter that we wanted crème brûlée for dessert cause it was my husbands birthday and they brought out strawberry cake(which was free and we were grateful but it wasn’t what my husband wanted. Not the best first experience

We love having dinner and watching the sunset. Nora is absolutely amazing always makes our experience a night to remember. Ribeye guacamole, Oyster combo and crab claws are great shareable appetizers.
