We were delighted to obtain an outdoor table for an early dinner and, as requested in advance, had a heater located next to us.
Servers were pleasant and the food at Lia's is reliably good.
However, two of us (total of 4) had salads and asked for bread. The bread, which servers kept saying was "baked to order," did not arrive until we were finished with our meals.
It was frustrating and disappointing.
Moreover, about 2/3 of the way through our meal someone walked over and whisked away the heater without inquiring if that was ok. It was getting darker and cooler and was NOT ok but we did not say anything about it.
We are fans of Lia's and regular customers. This was an unpleasant experience that I hope will not be repeated.
Easy and delicious dining in our neighborhood
We love Lias
great food and nice service. highly recommend for Saturday brunch. They also stamp parking ticket. A plus for the neighborhood.
Food is mediocre. Like an Italian chain restaurant.
Wonderful server on the lovely patio.
Server was outstanding. She is a star and please make sure you take care of her.
Great food and atmosphere. Lia's is consistently a wonderful dining experience
After years of loving Lia’s, yesterday was a big
Super food. Servers were attentive. The outdoor patio was wonderful- umbrellas for shade and sun if you wanted it. Lovely day!!
Food fair service not great. I was disappointed.
Service was terrific. Food not so much. Surprising that items I have ordered many times were just not right. Chef must have been off last night. Fried calamari were dry and overcooked. Salad was limp spinach. Pizza was soggy
Good food options, well prepared and served with attention and a smile.
The food was DELICIOUS! However, next time I’ll do take out instead because service was lousy. We tipped our server very well understanding the COVID-19 environment, but we had to constantly ask for new utensils and plates and we were given steak knives and tiny coffee plates instead and no serving utensils came with our dishes althoigh wr made it clear we were sharing everything. We order several dishes and had to add a 2-seater table to accommodate our small table but we had to do this on our own. We also ordered take out and also explained what was for whom and our server did not care.
Lia's terrace is one of the most pleasant spaces in the area for outdoor dining, its menu is creative and ample, and its servers are attentive and professional. I would recommend it highly to family and friends.
great food, best calamari, delicious avocado toast, and world-class service from Anne!THANKS
Excellent food! The salmon was perfectly prepared and the white pizza with caramelized onions and mushrooms was out of this world! The service was excellent.
Wonderful outdoor seating; menu has something for everyone!
Excellent food and service. Server was excellent. Glad you are back!
What a fun place. Good food and service. Big after work crowd.
The swordfish was dry and the broccolini was uncooked. We got some aioli for the swordfish and some spinach for the broccolini. the table next to us was so loud, it was difficult to have a conversation.
Lovely evening sitting outside with great food!
One of my favorite go-tos in Chevy Chase. Interesting menu. Everything we ordered was delish. Interestingly, this past Friday night there was a wonderful chef-created cocktail on the menu. Great pizza. Well prepared salmon. And over-the-top mushroom gnocchi.
My friend and I revisited Lia's last night, worried that our neighborhood favorite might have succumbed to the twin perils of a pandemic-induced loss of business and inflation. However, we need not have worried, since the food and service were as good as ever.
We both had the seared scallops with corn and a Caesar salad, substituting spinach and romaine for the kale in both dishes. The scallop sauce, which had a touch of bacon in it, was so wonderful that we ended up ordering a small loaf of bread to mop it all up! The wine, a cabernet from Bulgaria, was surprisingly good.
Yes, the price was higher than it was about six months ago, but that's true of all restaurants and groceries nowadays. Kudos to Chef Geoff and the sous chefs, to Elizabeth , who always remembers us, and a server who anticipated our every wish. What a delightful dinner!
Lovely ambience and great service. The staff was nice!
Excellent as always. Jacob , my server, excellent
Sitting outside is nice. The $15 salads were boring and small. Service was fine but the server didn’t check on us until we were finished.
We sat outside. Service was efficient. The food was great.
Wonderful restaurant with great food and service. Many choices on the menu. Had the kale salad and steak. Nice wine list.
Service a little spotty inside. Glasses were dirty.
We were greeted and shown to our table outside that I had reserved right away. The waitress could not have been more helpful or efficient! Food was fantastic. Very warm and friendly atmosphere without being intrusive. We will most definitely be back!
Our first impression from open table was excitement for homemade pasta!
Upon arrival it was a bit confusing on where to enter but we finally managed.
The outside was very nice, however we decided to dine inside.
Our waiter was prompt and the drinks came out very quickly.
We ordered the kale Cesar salads , the garlic parmesean focaccia the calamari, and the pasta dishes. Cacio e pepi and the pasta with meatballs
The salads were good. The garlic bread was not that warm and underwhelming
The pasta dishes did not taste homemade. The meatballs were like compressed balls. Like something from the frozen foods section of a store. The sauce was lacklustered
Our daughter did enjoy her pasta dish. My wife thought our daughters dish was also good.
For the price. I don’t think this restaurant is worth the money.
I know of a place down in the heart of DC that is truly homemade. But out of respect I won’t mention it
My friends and I much enjoyed our hamburger sandwiches at our lunch. Its one of the best hamburgers we have had. We had a long wait for it because the restaurant was really busy, but it was well worth the wait! Your outside dining area was particularly a pleasant location, On a busy day like yesterday, you should probably ensure to have adequate number of wait staff covering the outdoor area.
Lia’s outdoor space is delightful it’s a great place for an al fresco meal.
I went with my daughter for dinner, place was busy but we had timely food and great service.
Grilled salmon outstanding as well as the veal. Cold soup also a nice starter.
Service was great! The only complaint I have is that all of our food came out at the same time…apps and main meal
Fountain was nice, but made conversations hard to hear. Waitress was very good but obviously had too many customers to attend to. The food, except for the pasta, which was very strange, was delicious.
Everything was delicious, great service and ambiance. We will back.
Amazing dessert. Amazing food. Food comes out so fast. Inexpensive considering the quality which is great for my college budget. Will be going back so soon.
