Staff always very professional and welcoming.
Not sure if there is a heater problem or leaky windows there. This is the 2nd time I’ve been there within a month or two and both times we found the temperature to be cold. The Library Bar should be a warm cozy place for drinks and food...
We arrived about 15 mins early and was told that they would not seat us until our 2:45 time. When we were seated, it did take some time for our first plate to arrive and then our pastries later on. The down side was that close to 4pm we were notified that service was over and were rushed out. The food was okay-the sandwiches better than the sweets; service was also okay. Compared to other afternoon tea served at other locations, this was disappointing considering the cost.
The ambience was lovely and the room was cozy. It was a great afternoon with the girls!
Great service by Ada. Lovely atmosphere.
Too much fat on the roast beef in the roast beef sandwich. "Au jus" dip was really gravy. Sandwich would benefit from a true "au jus" dipping sauce.
The library bar is lovely, but I expected a better quality of food for the price of the holiday afternoon tea. We skipped a few items simply because they were just so dry and bad! We were served by a number of staff, some were absolutely wonderful and others seemed downright grumpy and rushed. Was definitely hoping for a better experience for the price - next time it's back to the King Edward.
My wife and I took afternoon tea in the Library Bar right before new years eve 2017. Ambient environment is superior, décor is very classic but service is about average. There is no alternative option for the afternoon tea as they only one option $60/per. My wife told the server that she was allergenic to sea food, but for some reason she still got a lobster sandwich. Sure my wife double checked and they made the exchange shortly. There was nothing wrong to the end but I have to give only 3 stars due to the omission of the service.
Dined here twice and had excellent service both times. We tried all different cocktails and they were very good. The second visit was a family outing downtown and we had light dinner. The prime rib sandwich and the lobster sandwich were delicious and the sides were just the right amount. Would definitely dine here again! The hotel is also spectacular to see especially during the Christmas season (great decoration and ambiance).
I am 74 years of age and have always had place for the Library Bar in my heart. Lots of great memories going way back. On December 12 I had an annual Christmas lunch with former associates. I ordered the prime rib (?) sandwich ($26). I couldn't get past the first few bites. It was full of gristle and chunks of fat. I didn't complain to the nice waitress. She wrapped it up
for me to take home. On examination at home, it was awful, the amount of gristle and fat couldn't have been a kitchen accident. My first LB complaint in 40+ years.
The high tea was OK, though I could have done with more sandwiches and less pastries. The service was not great-- brusque and borderline rude. Took an hour to get our order even though they had been previously advised of allergies and dietary restrictions. Then they tried to throw us out by 4pm despite serving us super late. Overall OK-wouldn't rush to do it again.
We were booked for afternoon tea at the Library Bar, Fairmont Royal York. The entire experience was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, the server was surly, and seemed huffy as we were a bit late due to the Santa Claus Parade road closures. She didn't make us feel welcome or appreciated, but was very business like in her manner. On top of that the food and tea were extremely underwhelming. The sandwiches were dry and flavourless, the tea was just bland, and the pastries were no better than a coffee shop. In addition, the seating was quite uncomfortable. The only bright spot was the server who provided us with hot water, as she was smiling and gracious. Having had afternoon tea at the Savoy in London which is a Fairmont property, I would have expected a much better experience. I would not recommend afternoon tea at the Library Bar, Fairmont Royal York.
Fantastic afternoon tea, beautifully presented and the attention to detail was great. Afterwards we were brought on a guided tour of the hotel which was really special. We ll be back!
Enjoyed an afternoon tea with a great friend.
The sandwiches were tasty and sweets 👌🏻 Perfect!
This is our second time at the library at the Royal York hotel for high Tea and will be coming again ❤️
Fabulous food. Great value.
Loved the ambiance.
Attentive service but not intrusive.
I ordered the salad with tomatoes, arugula, bocconcino, etc. and added salmon. Although it was very tasty, I was disappointed with the portion of salad - it was way too little considering the cost. The salmon was tasty and a good size. There should have been a least double the amount of salad on my plate!
Very pleased and such a beautiful table I was given. Thank you to everyone there who made me feel at home.
The staff are extremely courteous and attentive and make you feel valued and welcomed.
Great atmosphere, everything I was hoping for, we had a great time!
Attended afternoon tea for my birthday. Followed by tour of rooftop gardens and bee apiary. Highly recommend the Ontario Icewine tea.
Really enjoyed the delicious mimosas, food, and the free tour of the rooftop beehives after.
