Located in the heart of East 6th Street, Licha’s has become a niche restaurant for Austinites craving a bite of interior México. The restaurant is named after owner, Daniel Brooks’ mother, Alicia “Licha” Rivera, The atmosphere at Licha’s is casual and familiar. When you are here, you are in our home and we want to cater to you.

Inspired by the Mexican soulfood cooking that we were raised with, our menu is prepared by a team of passionate cooks. All of our masa products are made fresh and daily in-house and our proteins are thoughtfully brined and braised with a medley of herbs and spices.

If you’re interested in distilled agave products, Licha’s offers a large range of tequilas, mescales, bacanoras and sotoles.

Lichas’ friendly and knowledgeable staff is here to help should you have any questions about any of our dishes or menu options.

    First time there. Main issue is really only outdoor dining. While comfortable temp, it is right next to another bar that plays really loud music. That coupled with the music played by the restaurant results an a bunch of noise making conversation very difficult.

    Delicious food and good service, spoiled by exceedingly loud club music. It was like being at a rave - loud, thumping house music that clashed with the atmosphere. Too bad, I wouldn't go back even though the food was good.

    Lichas never disappoints. A great place to take out of town guests or a neighborhood happy hour favorite. Service is outstanding and food is tasty and plentiful. Such a good vibe.

    This was so disappointing. Watered down drinks and mediocre food. With all the great restaurants in Austin I’m not sure why you would choose to eat here or how they are even still open. Will not go back.

    This place was aweful. Was excited to celebrate a birthday dinner we were hosting. Unfortunately it was a horrible experience. Our waitresses was in a bad mood and inside on her phone. The food was delivered cold and basics such as water and chips were not attended to. Do not go here!!! Manager did not adequately address issues when raised. Waitress said they were discounting our bill 25% but they did not. They even included mandatory tip. Like I said…DO NOT GO HERE

    Great food and service. But for some ridiculous reason, they keep the radio on so loud you have to yell at your dinner companion even across a small table. In and outside both. WHY?!

    Ate here for a birthday visit with some friends while we were visiting from out of town. Sat outside while it was 105 degrees out, but it was very tolerable due to fans with misters blowing everywhere. Wasn't bad at all. Food was great, very unique drinks were amazing. Would go again for sure.

    THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING. it’s 109 in Austin! This should be spelled out somewhere when making the reservation. Service was lackluster but how can you blame them it’s so freaking hot. Food was not as good as previous experiences.

    If dank and unpretentious is your vibe, this is the spot. The ambiance is vibrant and fun, portions are more than sufficient, and pricing is fair. Licha’s is an absolute gem!

    We came for happy hour and had a blast. The service, food, and drinks were all top notch. Licha's Cantina is one of the rare restaurants in Austin where you can get outstanding and creative food that's served unpretentiously Our waitperson deserves special recognition for his recommendations and attentiveness. It was our first time at the restaurant, and he made the experience more enjoyable. The restaurant was a bit loud indoors, so if you want to have an intimate conversation, ask to be seated outdoors.

    Excellent interior Mexican food. I CAME HERE FOR BIRRIA! Did not disappoint. Loved the unusual escabeche that came with it. The coctel de camaron was excellent as well. Between my family and I we covered most of the menu--only great things to say. Love the setting and the atmosphere.

    The first thing you need to know is there is no air conditioning. Ask it sit outside where you can get a natural breeze or choose a cooler time of year to come here. The food is excellent and authentic, but you have to bare the heat.

    Went there because we heard the ceviche was very good. We ordered it as an appetizer. Staff brought our main entrees. Completely forgot the ceviche. They "kind of" apologized for forgetting the dish, but then went on as if it was no big deal to them. Too bad.

    We had heard great things about the food, and the menu looked exciting. However food was dry and cold when served, service was hard to track down, and drinks were weak. We had a reservation for 8, so we expected service to understand the needs of a larger party.

    Had some friends in town took them to Licha’s - definitely had higher expectations. Our server was amazing but everything else was pretty mediocre. It was extremely hot and loud. Was pretty disappointed, I was excited to take them all here and no one really enjoyed it.

    My only feedback is the metal chairs outside could use a cushion. Besides that, the food was absolutely delicious. We sat outside and the weather was perfect. They play music in Spanish in the background, not too loud but loud enough to notice a nostalgic or familiar song which was nice. Overall my mother and grandmother had a great time eating there for Mother’s Day and we all enjoyed the evening. Will definitely go back.

    The food was fine, in some cases excellent, though a choice of other tortillas might be nice -- the homemade corn tortillas were way too dry in texture, and overshadowed the food. I actually wound up preferring my shrimp and fish tacos (which were great) without them. The long wait times before our order was taken, and for our drinks to be brought to the table, and to receive our check were extremely irritating, however. Especially the first of those -- I can't think of many restaurants I've been to in my life (I'm 62) where I've had to wait so long just for a waiter to take my order. I assume the place was understaffed; the obvious solution would be to hire more wait staff. It was unacceptable, and for that reason alone, I would not recommend Licha's Cantina to anyone. Sadly, I won't be returning.

    When we arrived there was no table available to me until 30 min after I got there. Once 30 min passed I went back up to the hostess stand to find that we were forgotten about and had I not gone back up we were not going to get a table. When we were eventually sat we were not waited on until after other people were waited on that were sat after us.
