    When we arrived the manager knew nothing about our booking. He informed us that they no longer served food and hadn't even had a kitchen for the last few months. Which raises the question, how was I able to book a table for lunch at a pub that cannot serve food? Very poor service from Open Table.

    Unfortunately this place hasn’t changed for the better the food is over priced and average and the fact that you have children running around in a pubs main bar area make as much noise as possible and generally misbehaving says it all not some where I will recommend or visit again

    We have eaten at the lion and lamb many times but sadly this time the menu was very small Waited some time between courses Definitely not has high standard as our previous visits

    A very enjoyable evening. Food was great, good pub food done well. Service fab, the girls that served us were just very good at what they do and looked after us well. I would recommend for a good pub meal. Drinks are good to, they serve a decent beer on tap and a good wine.

    Excellent staff, very friendly, very helpful. Nice atmosphere, excellent service, staff very attentive, slightly dissapointed in my choice of main meal as was somewhat bland (lamb chops) and fries over cooked. My partner really enjoyed the fish of the day.

    My partner and I decided to spend our anniversary at Lion & Lamb, Little Canfield as they had an offer on that evening - 'Date Night Steak Night'. The offer sounded too good to be true at just £30 for two meals with a bottle of wine, but it far exceeded our expectations. The food was absolutely delicious and very generous portion sizes - we opted for starters too having seen the plates that passed us and these too were fab. The best prawns I have ever tasted and my boyfriend, not normally a fan of seafood, loved his calamari. The staff seemed lovely and we had a brief chat with the new owners who were very warm, welcoming and knowledgeable about the produce. Also reassuring to know that they have taken the time to use local suppliers. All in all, a lovely meal. Defo worth the drive from Chelmsford and will definitely be back!

    This pub, with the reputation the chef has could do much better all ingredient are fresh, but the cooking is just OK do not order any main course of the menu, try to stick to the special (they are much better) I ordered a chicken mushroom and spinach pie, the delivery and quality was poor

    overpriced drinks good food services could be better Normally for a family of 4 would cost £60 for meal drinks and desserts Not £88 both with out alcohol Will return maybe if they did deals midweek or weekend

    Went over to give it a go Run out of lime juice and orange juice which was a shame. Start a bit slow but think they were new and it was the bank holiday and weather was good of once so busy but not banged out

    Didn’t know what to expect from the new owners however the menu choice was excellent, plenty of fresh fish and local meats. The price was very reasonable and definitely value for money. It was so good we went back the next night.
