An easy to get to location in the loop and serves as a nice backdrop for business lunches. Always have a reservation but the place is never too full. Food is good and has a good variety on the menu. Service is a little slow, but it also was a midday lunch service so likely not as many staff on duty. Overall good value, quieter location to be able to converse, would recommend and return.

Although the food was fine (nothing great), the service was horrible. The waiter was difficult to understand and even when we asked him to repeat himself, he did not slow down or speak more clearly. We asked if a dish had mayonnaise and he told us no, but upon delivery, it was loaded with mayonnaise. He barely refilled our glasses and was extremely inattentive, which was ridiculous as the only other diners were sitting in the tables around us. When a manager came by to ask how our experience was, I stated that the food was fine but that we have had some issues with the service. He replied "ok" and continued walking. Would not return or recommend this location.

Went before theater for lunch. Service, unfortunately, was slow. The flatbread was OK - have had much better. Had the veggie salad and chopped salad w/shrimp (very small shrimp). Nothing memorable, unfortunately - with all the great places in the city.

All of what we ordered was very good. But, not necessarily described correctly on menu. Fried smelts were delicious but were described as fish sticks. It took time to understand that they were wonderful fried smelts since the waiter was not clear on the difference. French fries vs. pommes frites - there is a difference. We ordered pommes frites and got French fries. Both were on the menu but the waiter insisted he had given us pommes frites when in fact we received French fries.
However all was good. The Fish was excellent, especially the trout.

We came for dinner after the theater and were very pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is great and the service was perfect. Appreciate that the menu had a variety of options and prices. The Bolognese was delicious! It was the perfect ending to our day.

We ate here before Symphony last week. The location is good, the food was pretty good and the service was excellent. But I don't need to spend over $15 on a manhattan - Hilton - get real!

This was our 2nd time to the restaurant. The food was very good and perfect for theather. However, I was there with my sister, who I had just taken to see Hamilton for her 50th birthday and we were having a special dinner to celebrate. I told the hostess and also reminded her that it was a big birthday and they didn't even acknowledge the event. You don't turn 50 every day and this definitely put a crimp on her birthday celebration. DONT GO THERE FOR A SPECIAL EVENT!

I love this restaurant.

The food is generally very good, however, I had the fish and chips and this dish was not good. No flavor.

Food was good. But the service was very slow. We had a reservation, showed up at the time of the reservation, and had to wait at least 10 minutes for a table. The restaurant was not full either and the staff was in no hurry to get our table ready. To me, someone who travels quite often, this was unacceptable for an establishment that is part of a historical hotel in downtown Chicago. I would stay at the hotel again, but not go to this restaurant again.

Food and atmosphere were great, the staff was pleasent. My only negative comment would be it took a very long time for our food nearly 45 minutes and when it was time to pay it took very long as well. Possibly caught the waiter during a break but either way from end of desert to pay the check was nearly 25 minutes makin our dining time close to two hours which for me is a bit long. They were not busy I saw only 4 tables occupied.

OK for a quick pre-theater bite. The lobster salad in the lobster roll was good. Fish and chips was good. Wine was expensive. Overall okay.

So dissapointing. First, we reserved our table thru OpenTable (which went smoothly), because that was the link provided from the restaurant's website for afternoon tea. However, when we checked in, we were told that we "needed to call" for tea service -- online reservations were only for lunch. I think that would be fine, had it said that anywhere on the site (which I checked afterwards) and had the hostess not been so rude in delivering the message. She offered to "find us a spot" in the restaurant which was mostly empty and at a table which didn't even have a view of the tree.

We were able to order tea service -- which was $55 and consisted of soggy sandwiches, boring pastries but some nice scones.

The only bright spot was our server (whose name I wish I remembered) who was prompt and gracious.

Such a disappointment for the holidays.

Very disappointing. I ordered the scallops, cost $26. The dish consisted of three scallops, 3-4 tiny baby carrots (about 1 1/2 inches) on top of a thimble full of greens. My husband had breaded fish and fries, no vegetable, it was fine. We will not be recommending or returning to this restaurant.

My favorite high tea in Chicago is the Lobby at the Peninsula Hotel in the spring and the Palm Court at the Drake Hotel in the Winter. This is mainly due to the ambiance. I think the Lockwood has better finger sandwiches than the Lobby or the Palm Court but it lacks the ambiance of the other two.

This restaurant is located in the lobby of the Palmer House Hotel. With its painted ceiling and gothic renaissance old world charm the ambiance is over the top. The food is good, the service great and overall a great dining experience. If you are in Chicago definitely put this place on your list to have a great meal. Found the cost incredibly low for the quality.

Absolutely awful Thanksgiving dinner experience. Our table was so dirty that I asked us to be moved. The second table had glasses with lipstick still on them. The third table was next to the kitchen so it was loud and busy. The waiter was non existent for the majority of our meal. The food was undercooked and had to be sent back. Not worth the $175 for our family of four.

Waiter was terrible, ignored us the whole dinner and left a bad thanksgiving memory ; frustrating when the meal was decent and the table next to us (different waiter) had water refills and was offered the wine list.

Saw the family next to us have the same issue, absolute shame to ruin a thanksgiving dinner.

We went on the busiest day possible. So many diners without a plan or reservation, yet they took it in their stride. We had a reservation for early dinner and were seated right on time. Our waiter was a bit overwhelmed but the food was terrific. We love the Palmer House where the Lockwood is in the historic lobby. We had a great time.

We ate at the Lockwood for Thanksgiving dinner. The food was really good, however our server was spread way too thin. I get the menu being ala cart and most people ordered the Thanksgiving meal, however, we were pretty ignored the entire evening.
We had to ask for rolls and they came after we finished our meals, drinks went empty multiple times. We sat unattended for the evening. Our server was too busy to service the many tables he had.

Dined here for Thanksgiving. Overall food quality was poor, very overpriced for quality. Expected to be seated in Empire Room but wasn’t, so ambiance was lacking. The only bright spot was our server was very attentive and champagne was nice. Would never have a holiday meal here again.

Great location inside the Palmer House which is a classic hotel with beautiful décor. Had the right time for those wanting breakfast as the buffet was still open and those wanting lunch as there is a one hour overlap at least on Sundays. Fish and Chips were very good as fish was moist and flavorful and fries perfectly cooked with fluffy insides. It's upscale hotel dining, nothing too fancy but better than an average experience.

Walking distance from the theater, an elegant way to end the evening. Avocado toast and charcuterie was excellent. Steaks were tender. Loved the salad with the honey dressing--made by bees on the rooftop!

I have been to this restaurant before and had a great experience. Unfortunately we booked this restaurant during a hotel workers strike in Chicago. The only food that they served was a buffet with minimal options and the food had obviously been sitting there for a while. We had theater tickets and did not have time to change restaurants. I guess that it would have been nice to know about the issues before we arrived at our designated reservation time.
