Awarded One Hat by the prestigious Good Food Guide 2023, Lona Misa’s Latin fare and bistro dining collide against the norms of the classical medley you know of vegan and vegetarian dining.     The food was inventive and it was good to waiter who was professional and pleasant advised us that this is a vegan restaurant. Was a clarification point as the menu uses words like beef or seafood stew. Ordered quite a bit. Loved the salad and the croquettes and the lion mane (not) steak. Margaritas were good too. Not sweet.

    First truly vegan meal that was excellent and appetising, unusual and satisfying. We were all carnivores but we absolutely loved the food! Service was fantastic. Good value for money too.

    Lona Misa is fast becoming our favourite local restaurant, which is saying something given the huge choice and range available in South Yarra. On top of this, being a shameless carnivore, the food at his vegan restaurant is amazing. It has blown our perceptions of what vegan food is. The portion sizes were perfect for us, as we left feeling full but not uncomfortably so. The service on each occasion we visited was top notch. Super friendly and attentive. We can’t recommend them enough.

    The overall experience was ok. We had the 5 course chefs selection. my biggest gripe was that none of the courses came out hot, all were warm at best. Being a vegan restaurant, i/we expected more vegetable based dishes, opposed to most courses trying to impersonate meat which is fine, but a few more vegetables rather than some salad leafs to accompany the fake meat would have been nice. We didn't enjoy the triple cooked corn, the sauce was way too overbearing and lacked balance. The meat like dishes were pleasant enough with a good texture and tangy sauce, in particular the skewers. The desert course was ok, but again we found the panacota sauce too strong, and the sponge lacking in flavour. These obviously are personal opinions and I'm sure others would rate their experience higher. Maybe we should have gone with the regular menu. Hats off though to Lona Misa for doing what you do, its not easy to replicate meat and the overall meal was ok, and the waiting staff were great.

    Delicious food, particularly divine salad, generous servings. Very attentive staff. Cool atmosphere. Don't agree with the mixed sex toilets though, it's not a safe space for women especially when alcohol is involved. There was a party outside the toilets and men roaming, eyeing off women going in.

    Loved it. Great food, great service and good value. Loved the atmosphere and ambience. Set menu with wine was amazing. Wines perfectly complemented the food. Highly recommended.

    The Latin-inspired, plant-based menu, cocktails and wine were simply sensational. Everyone should book in to enjoy the remarkable cuisine and stunning ambience. The staff took such great care of us throughout our whole experience. Thank you. We'll definitely be booking in again soon.
