Loondocks - Appleby Village Burlington
A little on the pricey side and very limited menu, food was good though and hot.
Ford , service and overall experience was outstanding, however it felt very cafeteria style without more cottage warmth. Wait staff and front desk hostess were very open and friendly. We had a leisurely brunch and were able to have a quiet conversation with an attentive server who kept a close eye on us while not being intrusive. We will go again.
Manager was fabulous. Food was fabulous. Love the 1/2price bottle night idea. She also mentioned about a possible special pairing event in January as we got to talking. Good choices on both the vegetarian menu and the regular menu. There were 3 of us and all our meals were great and hot. I can speak to the pork being exceptional!! Would definitely go back again!
Walking distance and yet this was our first time trying it. The food was good, if not spectacular. Service was very good and friendly. Location in a small plaza doesn't seem to fit with the theme once you are inside it's a nice place.
Our friends enjoyed their food, as did my husband. I ordered the duck confit sandwich, which I found to be tasteless. We enjoyed shared desserts. The restaurant was very busy, but peaceful. You could converse without raising your voice. Parking is handy.
Great food, excellent service at a reasonable price.
Food was good as always. My guests particularly liked the Artic Char.
Food was excellent. Soup of the day was very tasty and the entrees (filet mignon and prosciutto wrapped pork tenderloin were cooked to desired doneness. Wine selection could be expanded. Our server, Cindy, was very attentive and made sure our everything was going well. She even comped one of our desserts for a special occasion. The hostess was friendly as well. Will come back here for sure.
Very very pleased with the unique food choices and loved the foods we ordered, particularly the beet/ potsto soup wth the lotus root. It was delicious especially with the cooler weather.. will look forward to returning for a dinner next time and trying the dinner menu.
I wish you much success for the future! We need a nice restaurant in this location! Keep it up!!!😊
Another great night with family. The children loved their Mac and cheese and pizza.
The restaurant was fairly quiet so we had our choice of seats. We chose to sit in the bar to see the hockey game on the tv. Our server was attentive and read us the specials. We ordered a series of apps & tapas for the table to share. The smoke bison carpaccio was delicious and had a good portion. The baked Brie was also very tasty and came with a nice variety of crisps. The bruschetta was as expected - 5 or 6 slices of crostini topped with a tomato mixture and feta. The duck confit poutine was quite disappointing. The fries were soggy and did not taste like fresh cut fries at all. The duck confit itself was good, but a little dry. The whole dish lacked flavour, cheese, and a good sauce (all imperative for a good poutine!) The cocktails were well made after the first one was sent back for being underwhelming. The wine list was interesting, and we found a local red that was delicious. At around 9:30pm we noticed we were the only ones left in the restaurant and asked if they were closing soon. We were told they were technically already closed (earlier than usual because it was quiet), but we could stay if we wished. When we asked about ordering another round of drinks we were told last call had been done (we don’t recall being told this!) but we could order more if we wished. We chose to get our bills and head elsewhere. The overall experience left us feeling the menu was overpriced for what was offered, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was not one of a vibrant Saturday night out.
Awesome service and a perfectly delicious meal.
I've been here a few times now and every time the food has been outstanding! I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Back again! Honestly I think it is burlington’s Beat Restaurant. Food is always impeccable. Cooked to order. Service is amazing. Love this place
Food was delicious, we were able to take our time and the food presentation was excellent!
Highly recommend it
Another amazing visit to Loondocks. The food was extremely tasty, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere was cozy. We actually licked our plates clean!! Will recommend and visit again!
Happy to see that you have another restaurant other than Port Carling
Beat new Restaurant in Burlington. Food was impeccable. The feed tenderloin puts the keg to shame. Arctic char was amazing as well. Can’t wait to return.
The food was very good and we liked the conversation about food and wine with our waitress, the overhead lights were too bright for a dinner meal. Why put candles on the tables if the lights overhead are on max? Dim the lights and it would boost the ambiance which we like for weekend dinners!
first visit was on the suggestion of a friend...very pleasantly surprised by the freshness and quality of the food...the menu selections were varied and balanced and the service was attentive...wine list was limited but the choices were more than adequate...and again well balanced...a very nice addition to the Burlington dining experience! Enjoy!!!
My husband & I went out for an early anniversary dinner and we chose to dine at Loondocks. We were lucky to get a beautiful upper level patio table. We were impressed already at all the small things that others don’t necessarily think of, comfy chairs, nice view, beautiful table set up, etc. Our server introduced himself and actually took the time to chat with us. He talked about the menus, drink choices and what his opinions were on different dishes. Throughout the evening whenever we thought we needed a server, he was there, yet never rushed as to make us feel like we needed to finish and get out. Now that is amazing. We enjoyed appetizers, drinks, meal and even dessert as the menu looked so enticing. The food was incredible and prepared perfectly...and even arrived hot which although this should be standard, many times the food is cold upon arrival. It tasted even better than it looked. We will definitely return again based on our experience. Thanks to a Loondocks for an amazing time and thank you to our server who treated us very well.
Thanks to Taste of Burlington for allowing us to find this gem. Food was amazing! Service was very good. Don’t be turned off by mall location. Highly recommend!!!
The Taste of Burlington is on now in Burlington. We have been to Loondocks before, so decided to try this menu. It was excellent. We each had a Caesar Salad appetizer-not drowned in dressing, shaved parmesan cheese on top. One person had the Prosciutto wrapped Pork Tenderloin with a wild blueberry gastrique, fingerling potatoes and zucchini. The pork tenderloin was perfect, moist and very tender. The other person had Arctic Char with a maple merlot reduction, with pureed butternut squash and zucchini and crispy capers. The fish was cooked to perfection. We both had the flourless chocolate cake for dessert. On this Thursday evening they had half price bottles of wine as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and would definitely recommend this restaurant anytime.
The wait staff were pleasant and knowledgable about the menu and the wine.
Excellent!!! Can not wait to go back! All our meals were delicious
Amazing food !!! And the best waitress I’ve ever had
Food was delicious,
Went to celebrate a family birthday
Two of us enjoyed the Taste of Burlington menu
gnocchi was excellent
Also enjoyed the soup of the day (red pepper and gouda) & beet salad
service was fantastic
We really enjoyed our experience at Loondocks. It was our first visit. The Arctic char was delicious and cooked perfectly! The beet salad with the goat cheese balls was amazing! I’d definitely order it again! Another great dish was the chocolate flourless cake!!!
Amazing dinner, great service.
What a find.
We are always looking for great local, independant restaurants and we have found one. From the attentive staff, to the great food, it was lovely. We had difficulty try to decide what to have.
We could not get into one of our favourite restaurants so having looked at the reviews of this new restaurant we decided to give it a try, well I am so glad we did. Keep up the great work and I know you will make some changes to the obiononce when you can. Looking forward to returning.
The food was grwat bit the service was slow. We have to wait a long time for our meal. Glad wd ordered appetizers.
I booked a table on the rooftop terrace for my girlfriends birthday dinner. Chad was awesome, friendly and attentive. We enjoyed a lovely meal from the Taste of Burlington menu. The food was delicious, All of it! I would definitely recommend this place.
Clearly an amazing neighbourhood gem. The quality of the food is superb!!! Can’t wait to return. I had their Cesar salad and it was amazing. As well as the pasta. It was to die for. Their tasting menu at $34 has many options and well worth it.
We sat on the roof top this past Friday evening. We had awesome food, and spectacular service. A real gem for Burlington for those looking for a great dinner out, or to celebrate a special occasion.
We chose Loondocks for an extended family gathering - no special occasion - just to catch up. We got a rooftop table. Service was great. Everyone enjoyed their entree. They even had a number of things for our vegan daughter to choose from. The bottles of wine were half price, and we were given a plate of bruschetta for our group while we waited. When the food arrived, it all arrived in a timely manner. The presentation on each entree was lovely and tasted as good as it looked. We would definitely recommend!
Great service. Amazing food. Quiet and greatopen concept.
Excellent food and service!
Excellent presentation and very flavourful! Would definitely return. Very friendly waiter.
Loondocks has amazed me again with the wonderful food and atmosphere. We went there for my brothers birthday and i cant be more pleased on how it all went, my brother had an amazing birthday there. I highly recommend this place to anyone. Chef Kevin does an amazing job with creating such a unique menu to please every palate. Thank you again for such a wonderful time at Loondocks, we look forward to coming back very soon!!
Highly recommended for those that enjoy a twist on food preparation and selection. I will highly recommend Loondocks.
Enjoyed a nice lunch with a friend. Loved the cucumber basil cocktail. We ordered salads as our main course. They were tasty but I thought the portion was small. The service however was excellent.
