Every dish was greatly enjoyed from an imaginative, whilst unfussy menu. Better cooking than many of the big-name restaurants in Montreal.
Food was good, well prepared but nothing original. Mistakes on the final bill where prices were inaccurate and one item was added by mistake. Music was from the '80s and more annoying than anything. Seats are not comfortable. Decor is really really nice though, with nice old stone walls. More importantly, i just found this place really really overpriced.
Get the rabbit! Fabulous food, service, wine list and ambiance. One of my favourite restaurants—anywhere and tops in Montreal!
This is a hidden gem! The food is gourmet and the service is excellent. I had the salmon on a parsnip purée with asparagus. It was incredible! Afterwards we actually stayed and sat at the bar and got to know the owner, Kyle, who also makes an amazing spiked latte!

2nd time there. Went for a dish a friend of mine had about 20 months ago. They changed the dish a bit so what I ordered and thought was going to be schnitzel was in fact a pork chop (bone in...schnitzel is never bone in). Nonetheless it was delcious. However disappointed that the spaetzel wasn’t more abundant. There was maybe a tablespoon if I was lucky and a small amount of rapini. The dish should have a proper side for the price.

The food came out quickly and was brought by friendly and helpful staff. The food was delicious and quintessentially Canadian. It is definitely worth stopping by and make sure to get the poutine.

What an amazing restaurant. One of Old Mtl best kept secret. Nestled on the ground floor of an Ôd Mtl historical street St-Alexis the ambiance of this restaurant prepares you for your culinary delight. Michael the owner and his staff are welcoming and make you feel like family as soon as you arrive. The « chalet » type atmosphere is warm and cozy and you won’t feel crowded as well.
The appetizers were unique and I must recommend the Mushroom toast. Lots of flavours and presentation is also part of the experience. We were a party of four and each of our dishes were delicious.
For the main, you may notice some meals that you are not familiar with but I strongly recommend to venture in some of them as it will fancy your pallet. There wine list was also interesting as it featured imported wines as well as some Cdn wines from some of our best regions.
We most definitely will return and my compliments to the entire team at l’Orignal for they success.

L'Orignal is one of my favorite restaurants in Montreal. The food is outstanding and the service is superb!
A must when in Montreal if you love good food and even better service. Amazing oysters and cocktails!
Thr most underrated restaurant in the Old Port
From the welcoming aroma of the forest as we walked in to the “thank you so much, come again” as we left, it was a delightful dining experience. The food—elk meatball, poutine, short ribs, rabbit pot pie, creme brulee, chocolate mousse—was spectacular. The service unhurried, friendly and efficient. The ambience right on. We recommend it whole heartedly.
I had wanted to go for quite some time. Finally I did and was not disappointed! Amazing food and great staff including the owner!

We celebrated New Year's Eve and this was fabulous experience all around. The bread was especially delicious! Looking forward to a return visit soon!
really enjoyable evening New Years Eve. The food was very good - some choices better than others. The chicken liver pate was excellent. I would also rec. the Sticky Toffee Pudding. The venison stew was a bit "run of the mill." The ambiance is great - perfect.
There for NYE dinner. The food was good. Service was good but clumsy.
We both got cutlery from diff ppl (I.e. 2 spoons @dessert. A dessert fork for my appetizer...)

Uninspired menu, but well prepared. With game meats as a specialty, would have been nice to have more of a showing of those on the menu. Friendly service, but when the later seating arrived early (1 hr after our arrival), the restaurant asked us to pick up our meals and change tables to accommodate rearranging the layout.

We visit l’originale every time we visit Montreal, and every time I am blown away by the food and the service. We are always remembered and treated like family. The food is delicious. As a Montrealer living away I cannot stress enough how much I love this restaurant, and look forward to visiting it every time I come home

DO NOT order the duck breast. I received a 2oz portion (literally!) hidden beneath a generous serving of vegetables and had to point out the ridicule to the server, who instantly acknowledged the insanity and brought me another 6 oz of duck, however there was NO ACCOMMODATION made. Unconscionable.
It was fine. But only fine. The food was prepared well enough but plating was bland. The service was noteworthy for how poor it was. They sort of stuck us in a corner and forgot about us. (A vase of long-dead flowers next to us as company? Meh.) If you're looking for a memorable dining experience, head to Barocco instead.
Great food and bar area is perfect for solo diners.

Wow! What a great find!! Had the Salmon Tatar and rabbit pot pie with a fabulous private reserve Bordeaux topped off with an espresso. We will be back.
We were really pleased with everything this restaurant as to offer. Surf and turf right now is a must have. Perfectly cooked sirloin and sauted mushrooms/onions to accompany it, and well seasoned shrimps are a safe bet for your tasting buds. Thanks again !
Best oysters I have had in a long time. The cod was excellent and so was the service. Great ambiance and friendly and accommodating staff.
The food is absolutely delicious and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. For some it's a little chilly wear a sweater if you get cold

Nous avons beaucoup aimé notre soirée au restaurant l'Orignal.
Le décor, l'atmosphère et la musique rendent l'endroit très accueillant, le service était excellent et tout le personnel très sympathique et professionnel.
Pour la nourriture, quelques petits bémols.
La sauce pour la boulette de Wapiti était bonne mais plutot forte (BBQ Fumé) et ne mettait pas en valeur la saveur de la viande.
Les gnocchi et les légumes qui venaient en accompagnement du Sanglier n'ajoutaient rien au plat principal, ce qui est domage car avec une si grosse pièce de viande, des bons accompagnements auraient rendu le repas absolument parfait.
Une belle soirée vous attends si vous décidez de l'essayer.

The oysters were amazing with freshly grated horseradish. We watched the bar tender shuck the oysters at at jaw dropping speed!
Debbie the waitress was very good but the other two guys were way too laid back. Needs better structure for the type of menu it should be more on point
