We arrived around 5pm and it wasn't that crowded. Yet the two servers assigned to our table seemingly rushed us to order. We tried to take our time but we were still in and out under an hour and came in after the tavle next to us did and left before they did. It was my birthday so I wanted to enjoy and take my time but it was hard to do so when constantly asked if we needed anything else and rush us from ordering drinks to an app to the meal and dessert. Was underwhelmed with the fried oysters. Wasn't aware they take them out of the shell. Was expecting them to be fried in the shell. Better explanation would have been helpful. Hate wasting food yet that is what happened in this situation. May go back for HH drinks but food was meh. Trout was too salty.

Luke is fairly new here in New Orleans I was told. It used to be a Mexican restaurant. I made my reservation for 8:30 pm on Open Table. To my surprise it wasn’t even the latest seating choice. Once there, I was seated very shortly after arriving. They were quite busy and there were quite a few people at the bar watching football. I had dressed up and worn a dress and heels and put my hair up. So, as I sat there waiting for water and utensils, my legs were feeling uncomfortable because the leather seats were a bit tattered. It felt scratchy. So I asked my server if I could relocate. He said would be a minute because they were quite busy. But, it ended up being a very short wait. I told him I would be willing to sit at the bar if necessary but they cleared a table quickly for me and I was set. I ordered the steak frites but exchanged the frites for the red roasted potatoes. I also ordered a Beefeater Gin & tonic. My drink came shortly after. But I waited a significant amount of time for my meal. It wasn’t totally unexpected because of the busy dinner time. My server came twice to apologize for my wait but on her second visit she offered my meal at half price. I was certainly grateful for that. So, all in all, my visit to Luke was quite memorable and the food was very delicious!

This is the first place I ever ate in New Orleans (a life changing pork chop I’ll never forget). It’s been a few years since then, but it’s a must when people visit! I some friends from out of town here because you gotta start a visit off strong! The food is always delicious—heaven tastes like the shrimp and grits, I’m sure—and the French 75 is probably the best cocktail I’ve ever had. Our waitress was absolutely amazing, too. Overall, I’ve only ever had positive dining experiences here! A little loud and lively but that’s exactly what I expect from New Orleans.

We really liked the food, including the Luke salad and fish and pork dishes. We enjoyed the generous pours of wine and beer. The decor of the restaurant is so nice! But the restaurant is really loud. There’s not a scrap of fabric anywhere in the place to absorb any noise. And we were seated by the bar despite asking to be seated elsewhere. We went on a Monday night and it was very, very busy. The servers were super pleasant, but did not cover some of the basics, such as making sure that we had knives to cut our food when the second course came out.

This was the best meal we have had in a long time!! Luke will now be our favorite restaurant in NOLA!! We can’t wait to come back!!
