Chef Joseph Sokoloff’s fare is a tribute to the Pacific Ocean and many of the regions that touch it, with influences from Asia to Hawaii, California to British Columbia. Lulu’s fun, light, and refreshing drink menu is equally well-travelled. Its sake, beer, and creative cocktail offerings will make you feel like you’re far from home — and we like that.
Our second time here was even better than the first. The service, cocktails, food, and atmosphere are all top notch. Definitely a new fav in Calgary. Get the squid. Just do it.
The food is Asian fusion and very tasty. Had 3 vegetarian dishes which I would definitely order again. The chicken satay was delicious but could have been a little bigger portion, especially since we were sharing, as suggested by the server. Food is served family style. Ate on the patio out front, which was noisy from 17th ave traffic but fun to watch the people go by.
Loved the space, tropical decor that makes you feel like you’re somewhere hot! Food was excellent and service was great! We will definitely be back soon.
I loved the summer fest lunch menu. It was the best three course I've had in all of the summer fest menus I've tried thus far. It's nice to try new dishes - hope to see the ribs in the everyday menu!
Great cocktails and flavors. Some inconsistencies with the food portions. We were never asked by the server about our meals so we didn’t get a chance to complain. The flavors were great though and I’d give this place another try. Also, we were seated directly next to the service station when there were lots of other tables free. Kind of ruined the ambience.
Great place, great food. Totally would go back for sure
Both drinks and food exceeded my expectations. Fun, energetic atmosphere.
Very good overall, pricing was not too bad for quality of food. Love the open concept of the restaurant as it was a beautiful day out
good service, atmosphere and dishes, but noisy.
I will recomend and go as well.
Beyond expectations and very well thought out meal for the start of summer festival. It has definitely risen to the top of my list and can’t wait for the next reservation
What a fun place! Great set up with the open kitchen concept kinda. Drinks are very expensive though, but food was great
Visited this restaurant for lunch. The two of us had the Wood Grilled Branzino, the Thai Sausage, Watermelon Salad, Steamed Lobster Dumplings and Fried Coconut Squid, with a bowl of plain rice. All dishes were amazingly delicious and a unique taste experience. If we have to pick a favourite, it would be the squid, which was very tender. The serving of the dishes was timed perfectly so that we were not inundated with a table full of food at one time. Our server was very helpful and the great music was just right, allowing us to enjoy it and talk at the same time, unique for a Calgary restaurant.
We went with a group of friends and enjoyed Lulu Bar. We liked the drinks and shared dishes that were spicy and flavourful. The side of the patio doesn’t have a great deal of ambiance.
Perfect for a night with the girls. Food was amazing and the service was exceptional!
Celebrated my 30th birthday with my husband and parents. The food was incredible, varied in flavor, texture and creativity! The noise level was on the high end but luckily we were seated on the upper level where it was slightly quieter. Really lively dining scene, popular place for creative cocktails and fabulous food!
We had table for two far in the corner upstairs, table was awfully small and looking in the wall is not very nice specially on birthday dinner.
Very loud too from people around
Yummy food, good cocktails and service was great.
Love the ambiance. We will be back
Great food, fun. Try be on the patio or by the windows...
Umbrellas on the patio would be a good option to provide some shade
Flavours were good, fish was over cooked. Portions really small for the price. Cocktail prices were outrageous. Coffee was really weak and needed to send it back. It was a fun and unique environment but very loud. Service was really good.
The poke bowl and the tongue skewers are to die for. I love this place.
Fantastic food, drinks, service and ambience, as always. Colin is superb and always takes very good care of us.
Amazing dishes . Always a favourite. The ambiance , decor , service and food are all top notch.
Our server was fantastic arranging the best order to receive our food dishes for maximum enjoyment and the food was incredibly unique and savory! We will definitely be back.
Enjoyed a beautiful dinner at Lulu Bar - the food was unique and delicious, service was excellent and the ambiance of the restaurant wrapped it all together. I would say one of the best meals/experiences I've had at a restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone.
Very energetic on a summer Saturday night. Very busy but good service.
Food was well presented- the French omelette was interesting, the beef less so. The grilled bok choy was a teeny bit overdone and limp.
It was a very disappointing meal. It’s a sharing menu. Of the 7 dishes we ordered, the coconut squid, grilled bokchoy and the pork belly were very good. The other 4 dishes were tasteless and close to not edible. The salt and pepper duck is close to tasteless. The satay chicken is basically plain grilled chicken with awful tasting peanut sauce drizzle on top. I have the impression that most of their food are premade and drizzled with different sauces that are not all appetizing.
The place was so noisy with loud music that you can hardly talk. The waitress was very good. She asked me h I ow I found the food and when I told her the duck was not good, she took it off our bill.
Service is outstanding.
Was disappointed when mentioning to my server of a dairy allergy that the popcorn, with butter, was suggested. Fortunately when it was served, I double-checked with the other server that it was dairy-free and at that time, learned that it was not. Sure would have changed the way the rest of my night went if I had ate it and not double-checked with another staff person!
It was our first time! The service and food were amazing!
Loved it. Spend several hours there
We made a reservation because of all the rave reviews. There is a lot of hype around this restaurant.
Be forewarned this restaursnt is LOUD. We had to shout at each other just to hear.
Family style sharing platters were quite expensive for amount you got. Appreciate the concept with fusion style food, they were just not as well executed as we had hoped for. Service was slow but I guess that is to be expected for a friday evening.
Unique and upscale with great food and ambiance. Staff are awesome,
Excellent drinks, tasty food, great service and a huge airy room on a hot day with the doors wide open. Another delicious addition to Calgary’s restaurant scene
Always a epic time visiting this unique spot. Amazing and experienced service, creative cocktails and food that will surprise your tastebuds. Something for everyone !!! Hip location, beautiful room and a must see !!
Loved loved Lulu Bar! The food was fantastic. Loved the pork belly and roasted sweet potatoes with a cashew cream. Our server Sydney was awesome. Very attentive. The cocktails were delightful. I tried a few. The Lulubear was my favourite - made with Pisco and rhubarb liquor. Great ambiance. My friends all enjoyed the evening, delicious food and libations. Definitely going back!
Great vibe and food!
Great food and atmosphere. Too bad our server decided to bring all of our 12 dishes all at once. Ended up bringing back some food to the kitchen and had a tough halibut at the end :(
Amazing food & cocktails ! Highly recommend the fried squid, it was heavenly. The Hula cake was to die for !! Also the watermelon salad had SOO much flavour it was delicious I could have eaten 3 orders of it !! The coconut cooler was a delicious cocktail, it was a really good size, light in flavour, and not very sweet at all. So nice and refreshing. I will be back FOR SURE !!!
It’s truly fabulous! Wendy has been our server both times and I get excited about the menu simply by her own enthusiasm for the food. We were even offered (and accepted) a taste of the watermelon salad from the table beside us. It was so good, “We have to share”, they said. They were right. Love Lulu. Love Wendy. I want to go to there.
