Chef Joseph Sokoloff’s fare is a tribute to the Pacific Ocean and many of the regions that touch it, with influences from Asia to Hawaii, California to British Columbia. Lulu’s fun, light, and refreshing drink menu is equally well-travelled. Its sake, beer, and creative cocktail offerings will make you feel like you’re far from home — and we like that.
The lamb skin not crisp enough!
Dunk breast skin wasn’t crisp
Duck thigh was better cooked
Lobster dumplings was chewy
Dishes presentation could be better!
We had the lamb, pork belly bites, beans & lobster dumplings. Everything was excellent, but make sure you have the coconut squid! All dishes had amazing, light, yummy sauces that really enhanced the dish. Cocktails are fun too.
Best restaurant in Calgary. Period.
Love this place! Great food, great atmosphere and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.
Especially if you are younger and you do not mind “vibrant” restaurants with noise level above 85 dB (I measured on my iWatch) this is a cool place to go. Food is great and interesting.
Ambience was very cool. Loved the restaurant decor. Mid century modern feel. Server was great. Perfect place to meet and have share plates. Food was yummy!! Would go back again for sure.
Really enjoyed the meal. Had a mixture of dishes for a small group and every dish was high quality and delicious.
Waitress and other staff were very helpful and pleasant.
Will definitely come back again soon
Food was stellar ! Our service was amazing ! We celebrated two birthdays , we had a great visit and loved the atmosphere ! Would definitely recommend and go back again ! :)
Wonderful waiter great service, food and drinks! Would definitely go back
Amazing Drinks, food, and service! Would highly recommend
An innovative dining experience that allows your taste buds to discover new contrasting flavors, textures that elevate your tasting senses, and finally the artistic plating that visually inspire all the senses to take pause. This is a dining experience I've yearned for. The chef has thought of every element and how they compliment and coalesce to create each delectable composition.
The staff, takes the time to explain every nuance of every dish and the technique applied. They patiently answer every question, and sincerely appreciate compliments as though they themselves were part of the process. They know the menu and are skilled and providing suggestions on dishes that would compliment your selections.
The menu is simplistic and unassuming. The wine/cocktail menu truly caters to the menu ensuring that you have several selections for every dish.
If you are a foody, this is the restaurant that elevates the dining experience in YYC; by being unique and understanding their ingredients intimately. It's been a long time since I've been knocked off my feet by a menu that is unparalleled and flavors that I would've never associated with one another.
Must have's on the menu:
Poke with the sesame chips
Steamed Lobster dumplings
Fried Coconut Squid
and the HOT DOG BAO is life changing!!!
Great Service, Food and Atmosphere, I will be returning for sure!
Have the beans sooooo good
The crab dumplings were too “chewy” . The texture of the dough was like chewing gum.
The sweet potatoes were soggy under the sauce.
However, the beef tongue and squid were delicious and nicely presented.
The caramel dessert was very good.
Michael was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable server.
Lulu Bar consistently meets my expectations. The staff is accommodating and friendly. For being one of the busier spots on the red-mile, I never feel as if i'm being rushed out. The wine is a good price point, with some exceptional bottles for 60-70. Will continue to return.
I’m not opposed to recommending Lulu to others, but it is designed for a certain clientele and we felt out of place and too old to be in this establishment. Our expectations were different than what we received. Saying that, it was still a good place to go, just not for us.
Wonder, wonderful wonderful place!! The food was out of this world. Service was faultless and cocktails delicious! A little bit pricey - but so worth it!
This as the first time we’ve been to Lulu Bar and it won’t be the last. The food is Pan Asian / Polynesian with items I’ve seen in Hawaii, but never eaten. The Loco Moco which is a ginger fried rice with a beef patty, fried egg and mushroom sauce was very comforting! I would definitely have it again. The edamame were also delicious. Service was excellent and the atmosphere very pleasant, but I would recommend a table upstairs as the noise level on the main floor was very high.
Only downfall is it is really loud and hard to hear people talk
Our server Colin was attentive and was very helpful recommending some menu favorites.
I LOVE Lulu Bar. The service is always amazing, even for how busy they can be. My food wasn't as fresh as the last time I went, but I trust it was just the day. It's a little pricey, but as is every other bar in Calgary. Their dishes are unique and you won't find the same menu anywhere else.
This place has a Hawaiian twist it’s is not like anything I’ve tried in Calgary before so glad I booked this place last Friday. Everything we ordered was delicious and there is a unique beer selection. A bit on the loud side but otherwise everything went well. Will return again for sure!
Wonder meal with friends at LULU ... service and food outstanding , great wine list and reasonable prices . Will be back
Lovely place with good cocktails.
Always a great venue for lunch, dinner and happy hour meet ups:)
Beautiful ambience, friendly staff, and the food was absolutely delicious! We especially loved the salt and pepper pork belly, coal roasted halibut, lobster dumplings and brussel sprouts with kimchi and sausage. In addition, the passionfruit, guava and mango mimosas were a great touch for brunch.
The baked hula birthday dessert was amazing as well :)
Will be back soon!
The overall ambiance and vibe was great. Food was above average but not outstanding. (I’m a huge fan of their other restaurant - Bridgette Bar.)
Unfortunately our service was not good at all. We actually had to leave the table to ask the hostess to send our waitress over a couple times since trying to catch her eye and flagging her down was not working. (We were trying to order more food and drinks.)
In the end, we chose to leave earlier than we would have due to the poor service. (We went next door for our desserts and to order some wine.)
The food here was amazing! I really enjoyed the duck breast and the beef tongue skewers. Everything was super flavorful and portion wise it was worth the price. It was quite noisy because there was many large parties nearby us but overall I enjoyed my experience here and would definitely come back soon.
Fantastic food, a bit loud at times. we were a group of 4, had the steamed edamame, hot dog bar,
pork belly, coconut squid, beef tongue, curry linguini, lamb and halibut, Everything was fantastic.
Chef JP is the best
Amazing service, food and energy. It was a bit tight between tables and the noise level became quite loud for talking around dinner time but it was a great first impression. Happy Hour pricing was a steal!
Yummy food; cool drinks. Good service... Thank you.....
Food was great and presented nicely. Like the look of the place as well.
Lulu bar has quickly become one of my favourite restaurants in Calgary. Their food is always phenomenal and the servers are attentive. My favourite dish is the roasted lamb- which they do medium- rare, and is truly the best lamb dish I’ve ever had. They also have a wide variety of cocktails and drinks. The decor is elevated and the atmosphere is relaxed. Keep in mind, the noise levels can be quite high and drinks are good but fairly expensive.
Enjoyed our lunch. The lamb meatballs and calamari were excellent as were the brussel sprouts. Will be back!
Great place, great food, great cocktails, great service!
Always love this place. Coal Roasted Halibut is excellent. Also recommend the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Great service. Great space.
Food is outstanding and different enough from Bridgette Bar to make it interesting. Service was great. Only complaint was that our table was right in the sun and we felt like we were in a greenhouse with the brightness and heat. Other than that, highly recommend.
Loved Lulu bar! The cocktails and wine were amazing and food was delicious. Our server Micheal was so sweet and attentive to us. I will definitely go back after such a lovely experience
Really trendy spot. Would describe it more as pan-asian tapas than "family style" as portions are on the smaller side. We ordered four dishes and my friend was still hungry so ordered some skewers. The food was fantastic however, and the cocktails were also impressive. Would recommend the coconut linguine, it was both our favourite.
