We had a birthday dinner at Luminaire and our group was sat upstairs in the restaurant. Norris was our server and he was amazing. There weren’t many other people there at the time because the restaurant is new, but the space could be an amazing place for late night drinks downtown. It had a high end lounge feel. Norris had some thoughtful ideas of how to bring more people to the restaurant. He was great and made our night even better. The food was delicious and the chef came out to check on us after the meal. Overall we really enjoyed our night here.

I went to a 9:30pm reservation by myself on a week day. It’s quiet with a fabulous date night ambiance. I can’t wait to come back again for an actual date night. I ordered the Luminaire salad, steak & potatoes, and an Aperol spritz. Food was superb, friendly staff and overall great restaurant! Location is great if you live downtown as it’s situated just blocks in front of the Capitol. The outdoor patio is so cute. Next time I can’t wait to try their frozen drinks!

The restaurant is beautiful, the ambiance ideal, and the menu is varied. The waitresses were very attentive to our needs, kind and respectful. There's valet parking at the Hyatt, next to Luminaire and they validate your parking. The food tasted very good, but I could give the chef some tips. May be these are growing pains because the restaurant is new. The flan was excellent, one of the best I've tasted. We had a good time. I recommend this restaurant.

The food was really good; however, the service was quite poor. There were only 4 or 5 tables occupied and even so, it was tough to get the waiter’s attention.

My friends and I were disappointed. We had read two very good reviews but the restaurant did not live up to the reviews. The food was just so so. The wine selection by the glass was limited. And, the service and ambiance were nothing special.

Great addition to downtown Austin with beautiful decor, Spanish inspired cuisine and nice service providers. Husband loved his chops, burger was enjoyed and vegan dinner-mate was able to find tasty items on the menu conducive to their dietary needs. The only disappointment was my grilled redfish which was undercooked/raw in the middle. Mentioned it to our waitress when she came by and inquired how our food was but nothing was done about it.

Location and patio are nice but the food is sub-par. The idea of meat chops as a side sounded good but the quality of meat was low grade and the taste was bland.

The food was a bit underwhelming. I had the boar chops and there was enough chili on it to wipe out the rest of the flavors. The bread that it sat on to hold the juswas too soft. It was more like a sponge than a crusty bread. The chops were also served on an elevated plate, for no apparent reason. I don’t think anyone would be able to eat directly off that plate, and I had to ask for an additional plate that I could eat off.

My fiancé and I visited this new restaurant for our weekly date night and we were VERY impressed. Being that it is a newer smaller restaurant it did have a smaller menu but the options on the menu were all fantastic. We had the Smoked Tomato Tartare, gnocchi, and steak and potatoes. The drinks we had were also very good. We would definitely recommend checking out this restaurant and we will definitely be back again!

This was our first time at Luminaire. The restaurant is very pretty and the patio was lovely. We all ordered the shrimp and hominy based on a recommendation and it was delicious. We also ordered the Luminiare salad, which sounded great, but it did not have any dressing. We were in a hurry, so didn't complain. I would go back though.

Luminaire is one heck of a hot mess of a restaurant. The service at our table for four was deplorable...wine not replenished, water not replenished, an item we had ordered which never arrived, etc. We ordered a Grand Cru Alsatian white which was described on the wine list as a Gewurztraminer. When the bottle arrived , the label noted it was a Pinot blend. The "wine person" (definitely NOT a sommelier) then attempted to convince us that it was "really" a Gewurztraminer, despite the fact that Pinot and Gewurztraminer are two different varietals...not exactly news to the two 40 plus year members of the International Wine & Food Society and the sommelier in training at the table. The much lauded (and expensive) charcuterie board contained barely enough food for two, let alone four. I could go on but why waste the energy...this restaurant could well be the poster child for all that is amiss with dining in Austin.

Where to start? The gnocchi was little toasted pieces with a bolegnesa which presented like canned chef boyardee spaghetti sauce. No chardonay on their entire wine, chenin blanc listed but not available. Instead had sav blanc. Fortunately the gataeu got thawed out just in time to to it all off. Overpriced, uninformed server, mediocre food with no redeeming tastes. But great location next to Paramount on Congress ave.

We were excited to try Luminaire for a night out with friends, since we love the chef's place, Cure, in San Antonio and it had been rated a top new restaurant in Austin by Eater, which is usually reliable. Not so here - expectations were high and were not met. First and foremost, our server was a disaster - we had empty water glasses over and over through the meal and had to ask to have them filled at least 4 times. She left dirty, used plates on the table between courses (we actually had to ask to have them removed), never asked us if we wanted more to drink after we finished our bottle of wine or if we might want dessert, and even completely disappeared before the end of the meal - we had to ask another server close us out. Our bottle of wine arrived at room temperature. As for the food, we got the charcuterie board - at $65 it should have blown us away. Rather, the "star" 24-month aged jamon was cut too think, and was dry and chewy. The cheeses were OK at best, and there were no fig jam or mustard to go along. We had the carrot side dish, which arrived charred - which would have been fine if the carrots weren't completely uncooked otherwise. We tried the boar and veal chop. While the veal was quite nice, the boar chop was tough and inedible. Last, we had the burger, which, while cooked properly, was small for the whopping $23 cost, was missing the promised caramelized onions, and was otherwise unadorned, leaving us completely underwhelmed. Last, we tried to provide feedback to the manager/maitre'd before we left and he was dismissive - totally uninterested in hearing what we had to say. What an utter disappointment.

This was the perfect spot for brunch for a group that included a mix of meat and non-meat eaters. The food was delicious, and service was attentive and knowledgeable. The manager also bent over backwards to give us recommendations for what to do during our stay in Austin and San Antonio. We highly recommend it. The only odd thing is that, because it's in a hotel, the bathrooms are on the second floor. But that should not stop you from visiting this gem!

Our waitress was warm and friendly but not very knowledgeable about portion sizes for a party of 4. 3-4 chops should’ve been recommended for a meal. The fish was very bland and at $40 a big disappointment. Atmosphere felt hotel like and nondescript as was the menu.

Food was good - burger was a little on the spicy side which is fine for me but some diners might want to read the fine print before ordering. Tried my wife's gnocchi and was good as well. Service wasn't bad as I had heard some complaints about the slowness of service. It did take a little while for drinks and even then it was stated they were out of the drink we ordered. The couple next to us also one dish delivered will the other person was still waiting. The servers apologized and the late dish was fully eaten so there's a silver lining. So, a few kinks to iron out in the kitchen/service definitely. I didn't try the chops but they look good. It is cured meat on bread. It's $8 per different type of cured meat. Some people were complaining about this but at that price point I'm not sure what else can be done.

Overall, it was a fine experience. Party of 3 @ 5pm on a Saturday. Loved the open doors/windows. We ordered a bottle of their orange wine - and it was good, but we recommend serving this bottle chilled rather than at room temp. Our server was pleasant and friendly. I think more training on the menu would be valuable. We ordered 3 different types of chops and she could not help us identify the specific meats. It's a neat location. I think a walk-in and ordering their board and having some wine is probably the best decision.

FOOD looked very good but ended up being basic and not very good, chicken was very dry. Fish was extremely over cooked. Arugula was old. For the price point, I will not be returning.

My Spanish Tortilla with creme fraiche was excellent, and my husband had a traditional breakfast with eggs, bacon and roasted potatoes which was yummy. The Paloma cocktail and the capuccino were both just OK. The location and decor was cute, and the service was fantastic. I would go back.

Charcuterie - not a value. Drinks fine. Assortment of Chops - hit/miss - some overcooked and some just right. Gnocci - bolognese editable. Rave worthy - shrimp & hominy. Server - great. Location great - sidewalk/outdoor - noisy bc it was SXSW - not sure what the normal homeless situation would be.
