Food was excellent, I think we may have had a new waiter but he did a good job. They need a new band. Music was depressing and they played the theme song from "Match Game". We were one of the oldest couples there celebrating our 50th and 52nd birthdays and I am sure none of the younger couples or groups even recognized any songs!

The ambiance is always nice at this restaurant either day or night. However, adding an entry door via the restaurant to the liquor store took a little bit away from it as that was a great wall to sit next to looking out and people watching while you ate. The Calamari I would highly recommend. Texture and taste are perfect. I had the pizza and Mussels as well. The sauce on the mussels was just average and the pizza crust was actually a bit too soft. I'm still rating the food good as the Calamari really is a must. The Server Sarah was very nice and attentive.

We were so pleased with the whole experience. We had the chicken parmagiana and a salmon special which were both very good, the sauce on the salmon was especially flavorful. During the meal, a trio started playing oldies and we enjoyed it so much we went to the bar and sat for an additional drink just to listen to the band. The band was called "The Mockingbirds".. Drinks at the bar were excellent as well - I recommend the hand made margaritas - no mixes used here.

I ordered my pasta with chicken and when I got it there was no chicken. I told the waitress to remove from the bill and not to send the chicken. She still brought the chicken and not sure if she charged me as I wasn't sure how much it was with or without it. Also the pasta was cold within a minute of arriving at the table. The wine tour was at 7 but didn't even start until 7:15. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and hoping it was a night to remember but it won't be. I would give it a second try but not for a long time.

My husband and I visited this restaurant on the 4th of July before fireworks by the river. We were seated outside on the patio which was great people watching, and quiet enough to talk. The inside is very romantic with low lighting. Decent wine list, although our first choice white wasn't chilled so we had to order a different bottle. The caprese was awesome. The balsamic glaze was a little sweet, which we enjoyed. I felt my husband's lasagna was just average. My shrimp pasta dish was excellent though. The shrimp were perfectly cooked.

We had reservations. When we arrived we were offered a table in the bar or one by the kitchen. We chose the bar. Noisy!!! Mentioned to hostess we would like quieter table and offeredby kitchen. She said people were waiting for cave tour and would be gone soon. Asked if we could be seated in different room where a group was seated. Hadto ask manager. Finally moved us. Ordered bottle of wine. Servrer said they didn't have any chillers because they were all in they caves for the tours and wine tasting . Just shrugged his shoulders as heostruggkef to open bottle. Left table with wine. New server returned and apologized for lack of chiller. Her service was excellent. Good was good. Wine tour psasses through room we were in, so at times at bit noisy. Turned off by initial interaction with hostess and first waiter.

Since there aren't a lot (any?) other Italian restaurants in Stillwater, that must be why Luna Rossa is popular. Also, the design with the back room in the cave - it is very nice and cool to sit in the dimly-lit cave part if it is hot outside. Also, it is much more romantic even though it smells a bit musty, which I guess is normal since it is carved out of a natural stone cave. My opinion is that the prices for the food is too high - $16.50 for very basic spaghetti & meatball (not balls) and $20+ for many dishes. That price is OK when it is a fine-dining Italian restaurant, but this really isn't. It has an interesting atmosphere and pretty good wine list, although $12 a glass for my Chardonnay is again, more priced towards fine-dining experience. We started with their seafood chowder and it was almost too salty to eat. Then I had the Lobster Ravioli (average, too much sauce, and couldn't finish it, slightly fishy tasting) and my husband had the spaghetti and meatball which he said was "average" The bright spot was a very nice server who did a great job.

This past week-end on Sunday a friend and I had an early dinner at LR. Beautiful day, the waitress was simply spectacular and our dinner of salmon and Italian penne was extremely tasty. The gelato was out of this world great, but, we thought it tasted more like coconut than lemon gelato, but enjoyed the luscious, creamy goodness, nonetheless.

We enjoyed our meal. Lasagna and lobster ravioli tasted good. We were sat in the front room at a window. It was a Thursday night, nothing going on, so the ambience was zero. There's no effort our decor in the front, almost quietly so. The back "cave room" looked cool. I think our visit would have been completely different sitting back there.

Luna Rossa has a nice dining room in the back. On Friday night, there was live music, a pair of keyboardists and trumpeter that did old standards well. However, the pasta dishes we ordered were only mediocre and typical of hundreds of Italian-american pasta houses all over It would be nice to see Manicotti prepared on a flat plate assembled with a moderate amount of sauce and garnishes for once instead of baked in a shallow casserole where they disappear under the sauce and cheese. The more expensive lobster ravioli was a disappointment with very little taste of lobster in the fine-ground stuffing and all buried under a soup of white sauce in a deep bowl. Presentation is important but sorely lacking. A little creativity and attention to quality would go a long way to separate Luna Rosa's kitchen from the strip mall Italian-American cafes.

Our experience was terrible. I had reserved a table 3 weeks ago for a party of 6. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation with only 5 people to be told that our table was being "cleared off". We continued to stand for the next 50 minutes while the hostesses awkwardly stared at us. (They even offered us to sit at the already full bar and help ourselves to a drink) ((we are all only 18 years old)). We stayed because we had come before and we knew that the food was pretty good, also because we didn't have anywhere else nice to go with 5 people on a Saturday night. When we were finally seated we were put in a room in the very back corner of the restaurant without a lit candle in the center of the table. We had to ask our busboy for bread and our waitress knew nothing about the menu. We ordered our entrees and soups/salads. Our waitress brought out the wrong salads for all of us. She took them away without saying a word. We ate our food and sort of enjoyed our dry fettuccine alfredo. Our waitress never came back to ask about how our food was, although she did come back one time to silently fill 1 of our drinks and fill another 1 of our waters half way. She never came back with more water to fill our drinks even thought our glasses were empty. We wanted a good experience and we wanted to have a fun night. However our entire night was ruined by the horrible service and extreme amount of waiting for a table that we had RESERVED. Completely unacceptable food service, I understand being behind in service because I myself am a waitress. But the employees never tried to apologize for the wait or anything. We left very disappointed, I will not be back for a while and I especially will not be recommending The Luna Rossa.

Very disappointed to be seated near the front door on a chilly night, even though there were tables available in the main dining room. (And we had made a request to be in the nicer room.) We were cold. The kitchen operations were noisy and distracting and, on two occasions, we could hear kitchen staff swear out loud. A phone went unanswered at the front desk no more than 20 feet away from us, a mild distraction that only became a nuisance when someone working in the nearby bar kept yelling, "Is somebody going to get the phone? Could ANYBODY get the phone?" At least she didn't swear as the kitchen staff had. On other points, our food was okay, and our server was pleasant and attentive (though she too kept mentioning how cold it was where we had been seated). We enjoyed each other"s company so much that the night was fine, but we were disappointed by a VERY DIFFERENT ambiance and dining experience than suggested by the photos and comments online.. especially given the modest crowd at the time we were dining.

Overall not a horrible experience, but not what it used to be. The owners have added a liquor store -- great! It's attached to the dinning area -- not great. I requested a table in the back room, but got sat next to this newly added liquor store. What used to be a romantic spot is now just a restaurant. The food was ok, but rushed. We had our dinner with appetizers and salads on the table still. This used to be one of my favorite places to go, but sadly I would only choose it now for the proximity.

At the table after our arrival, we waited ten minutes for the waitress to approach and noticed there is no wine list on the table. After we received a wine list, we again waited another five minutes. After we ordered a wine and food at same time. After the dinner, we received an original receipt and placed our credit card. After the waitress returned with a charged receipt, it costed more than the original receipt. So, just watch out for their carelessness.

We had dinner at Luna Rosa for Valentine's Day 2015. We were seated off to the side between two large and loud groups. My husband and I could not hold a conversation as it was neither a quiet nor intimate setting. Our server was unattentive and very rude. As the server helped a neighboring table I soon realized that the couple across from us was deaf. The server yelled loudly when speaking with them and over ununciated her words to the point of embarrassment. When we revcieved our food (Alfredo and Chicken Carbonara) you could tell by the first bite that the food was not made correctly. The only flavors that you could taste were heavy cream and flour. Needless to say neither of us ate our food but rather ate only the bread (which was chewy but better than the pasta). The wine that we had ordered tasted fine but the glasses did not have 8 oz in them but rather more like six. Our food was so bad that when we left we did not being it home but left completely full plates on our table. This was a complete disappointment for a $75 meal! Needless to say we will NEVER go back.

The back dining area was pretty. But from there, everything went downhill. Ordered a bottle of wine - they didn't have it. They brought us a different "comparable" wine to try which wasn't good. So then the manager brought another one over that I had never heard of. Bought it, but felt like we were actually pressured into buying that one because it wasn't very good either. Order artichoke dip, which I'm not sure if there was any artichoke in it. Just cheese and garlic. My husband's dinner of shrimp was not very good, and definitely not enough food. My lobster ravioli was good, but too much garlic (and I love garlic). The server was good, quiet but did a good job. But unfortunately this is not a place I would recommend or go back to.

We have been here before and were really pleased with past experiences so when we wanted to go out with friends, this was a place we wanted to bring them. They were short staffed so the manager waited on our table. We weren't checked on and had to wait an awful long time for services. When we originally got there, we were sat by the door at a table when in the reservations it stated Booth seating, which was available. When the draft started we quickly asked to new moved, but almost immediately wished we hadn't as there was a band there and we were sat right next to them. We were hoping for a nice dinner to catch up with friends but we had to yell to talk and left with pounding headaches. The restaurant is small and has low ceilings, clearly not meant for bands to play. We love this restaurant and will go back, but not happy overall with our experience. And felt bad bringing our friends here. The food was delicious and helped the evening a little.

While it looks beautiful, it is not worth the time. We went one night with friends and we had to ask 3 times for drinks, the soups never came (the waiter didn't even apologize) and they messed up the order. And it was excruciating slow. And it wasn't even just our waiter, the host and another waitress who said they would help didn't ever put in the orders either. Just save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else.

I had lunch at Luna Rossa recently. Not sure why the Caesar salad was called "knife and fork Caesar salad." I expected my plate to arrive with a tasty uncut head of Romain lettuce with thick shavings of Parmesan and whole anchovies. Instead, it looked and tasted just like any other Caesar salad you would be served at some big restaurant chain. Was the Caesar dressing homemade? Don't think so. It tasted like it came from a restaurant supply company. Cappuccinos we ordered were served in a small cup. The huge place was empty on a beautiful fall Friday afternoon so I can't figure out why the pace of our lunch service was so slow—we spent 1-1/2 hours there! I will not be recommending Luna Rossa to my friends.

Had an amazing time! The food was awesome and our waiter was amazing! He recommended the best wine and dessert and I don't even like wine. Would recommend to anyone!
