My girlfriend and I dined on the Sunday 7th April for an 11am brunch.
Although we had reserved a table the waitress seemed surprised we were there and appeared quite flustered.
After some time, and noticing she was talking on her cell, she came over and took our drink and food order (1 Americano and 1 water).
Around 15-20 minutes later we heard the bell from the kitchen ringing, indicating our food was ready, yet our coffee still had not arrived.
The waitress then brought our coffee out, without a saucer (just the cup) and then proceeded to take another table’s order while the kitchen bell continued to ring.
Eventually our meals arrived and they were delicious. Generous in portion and full of flavour - exceptional.
After finishing our meals we sat with our dirty plates while our waitress sat two more tables of two and then go back to making calls on her phone.
In the end we had to make our way to the bar to pay our bill.
After having high hopes for M8, we left embarrassed and disappointed with the overall experience. We hope to dine at night to see if the level of service is any different.
Nice place, although the two waitresses were very very very rude, the waiter who served us was very nice and polite.

Tried the $45 dine out menu.
I ordered: Beef Cheeks, Boneless beef ribs, purple yam and coconut ice cream.
My fiancé ordered: Pork belly, sable fish, purple yam and coconut ice cream.
Food portion very small, food was mediocre. Don’t think price was on par with the taste and portion.
Pork belly was good. Beef cheek was tender. Sable fish had a unique taste. Boneless beef rib was tough. Dessert was okay.
No problem paying $45/pp or more for the portion size if the food tasted on par. Unfortunately, it wasn’t close.
Service was good/fair. Tentative staff. Prompt at removing your finished dishes. We were a bit confused why they would serve the Sable fish dish that clearly had a broth/soup without a spoon as part of the setting when changing utensils but that’s minor.
Ambience was okay. Unfortunately left hungry and unsatisfied so had to seek other options.
Glad we tried it. Can’t say we’d be back though.
We four the only customers had the lunch there. The bill was charged 18% tips without any choice.
Parking was hard to find but everything else was great
Chefs are very talented. Best Sangria in the city.
Located next to the Vancouver Aquatic Centre, free parking is available in the underground lot of the building which houses the restaurant.
Service was a little slow but the staff’s pleasant demeanor made up for it.
The appetizers were delicious ( try the tempura mushrooms! ) and the consensus on the main courses was quite favorable as well. Dessert was well prepared and original.
Good bang for the buck here.

Food is Farm to Table. I visited this restaurant two nights in a row for and had a got a good sense about the way things were run. This is a fairly new restaurant - opened a few moths ago.
The food is damn good Japanese infused quality West Coast ingredients. Clearly someone in the kitchen knows what they are doing. There was the clam pasta that was flat but was fixed with a squish of lemon.
The service left a lot to be desired. Front of house staff are lacking in dress code, food knowledge, and timing - plates being cleared, water being filled, cheque presented when needed. What we wanted to order - halibut was no longer on the menu but still on the menu places before me. Nice enough folks serving but this place has huge potential with its location and yummy food. If the owners bothered to spend the money on a proper front of house manager who could have all these details ironed out, this place has a real chance of making it. Hope it is still there when I return to Vancouver.
The appetizers are great, especially the Shemeji Mushroom and Chicken Chicharon. My striploin steak was very average. Pasta dishes were exceptional and worth a return visit. Only one waiter/bartender person who try his best to offer good service.
Our family went to M8 for the first time to celebrate our son’s birthday. The team did an outstanding job at making us feel welcomed and the food was outstanding. Fortunately, with a group of 7, we were able to try multiple appies- all which better than the next. This was the perfect set up for an even better dinner. This is a must when you’re in Vancouver.
I highly recommend this restaurant, it is a diamond in the rough. Great Food, Service & Location.

Good food but was not really Asian or Asian fusion as we expected. Was more Canadian - seafood. Price for the amount of food was high. Good service. Small place.
Was celebrating friend's birthday there while they were holding a wine tasting event. The manager and server were trying their best but still baked due to the high volume of customers at the same time.
Despite that, I will still go back in the future as the food is one of the best in Vancouver.
We had reserved a table at 10.15. Restaurant was not open, even when we came back at 10.30
M8 was disappointing. This restaurant was listed #2 on Yelp but it is struggling. It is only a few months old. We were the second couple in the restaurant and that was it for the night. I ordered the halibut but they were out. My impression is they had to limit food inventory given the small clientele. I got the steak instead. Ordered it medium rare but there was no pink to be found. My wife's food was better. Not sure how they will survive.
We were able to get a last minute reservation, but this was possibly due to fact that they were just wrapping up a private event. Aware that this is not an every day occurrence, but walking into a loud private event was not really the dining experience I had in mind for the evening.
We ordered the beef cheeks to start. They were tasty, but unfortunately a little over cooked on this occasion and the prominent flavour was the char from the cooking of the meat.
For main course we order the Asian bolognese and also the shrimp pasta. The bolognese was tasty, if a little salty ( but it made reference to soy sauce trio, so to be expected ). The shrimp pasta was far too fishy in taste. I’m curious if they used a clam broth from a can in the sauce component. Either way, it wasn’t the freshness to be expected from a shrimp pasta.
Would I go back? Maybe. I think the kitchen may have been under pressure from the party that was there at the time. Service was friendly and attentive though.
Food was excellent! Service was great! Ambience was different, but in a good way. Nice area!

A 3 month new restaurant from where Ten Ten Tapas used to be.
Great view, right along the seawall with a good size outside patio.
We had the boneless lamb rib, braised beef cheek, crispy chicken skin and a mushroom medley with two fried eggs on sourdough multigrain toast.
The beef cheek and crispy chicken skins are both good. The lamb rib is a bit too gamey and need a bity more flavour. The mushroom medley, I was hoping for wild mushroom like Chanterelle or maitake, but nonetheless, the dish has good umami. The eggs are a bit over cooked and yorks were not runny.
Service was green as expected, but the servers make up the lack of experience with enthusiasm.
Descent and moderated price cocktail and wine list.
Given a few more months of polishing, this place should deliver above par service and foods.
Good food and good service.
Our least favorite meal of a weeklong visit to Vancouver. Reviews were good so we had reasonable expectations. Beef cheek appetizer was fantastic. Our meals however, were disappointing. Halibut over cooked and not much flavor. Wagyu bland and over cooked, accompaniment lackluster. Prawn pasta was okay but mains really missed the mark. For dessert, one option, vanilla ice cream. Expected far more. There are so many better options for a great meal in Vancouver.
We ordered halibut and duck breast for main course, the fish was not fresh at all. Only recommended for the atomosphere of the restaurant, not for the food
Veal cheeks and pork belly were very flavorful. Tempura enoki mushrooms and kale were delightful. The clams Vongole pasta was cooked perfect but the clam flavor was a bit muted and therefore the cilantro (which I like) was a bit too prominent. Wait staff was excellent. Reasonable prices, we shared 3 appetizers, 2 mains, 3 drinks = $100
This new undiscovered gem is ready to make a big splash. The location and lack of outdoor signage makes it invisible to passers-by. Come here to enjoy privacy and delicious fusion flavours
