   Magnus on that Water remains one of our favorite places to visit while in the Biddeford area. The cocktails are innovative yet balanced and no dish is unremarkable. Do not miss out on trying one of their curated shots or the duck confit! While certain dishes reflect their price point, there are times when I’m a little surprised be the portion size (3 grilled green onions over a carrot purée for $16?). Last of all (and this could just be me) if a dessert option isn’t sweet, the server should let you know. There was dessert that listed feta, apricots and pecans. I anticipated that they’d be transformed in some way (feta whipped with honey possibly?) but it was just a hard chunk of feta, 2 dried whole apricots and some nuts. I realize that this is a European tradition but definitely not what I expected and I wish I’d known before ordering.

   Cool little spot in Biddeford. Great food and cocktails. Sat outdoors and was pretty noisy with loud cars/motorcycles driving by. Otherwise good ambiance and great service. Definitely recommend.

   From Brittany’s warm welcome to the postcard with the check everything was exceptional as usual. Cocktails were tasty as were the wine selections. And every bite was an explosion of flavors. Always an amazing dining experience. Looking forward to next time.

   This was our first time at this restaurant. It has an eclectic menu for small-plate dining. Each item is tied into the entire offering, which is succinctly presented. The accompanying beverage offering was extensive. The food was prepared excellently and the taste was outstanding. The venue offers inside and outside seating. Our dining area was small with only five tables and the bar, but another room had more tables. The ambiance is nice and tastefully decorated. Between music, other tables, and activity at the bar, it was rather loud at times. Overall, a great experience that we will enjoy again soon.

    We’ve been to Magnus several times and it is always outstanding. The four of us ordered all the dishes on the menu sharing everything. Everything was well presented, delicious and well balanced as always. The cocktails are so good we’re ruined to order cocktails at any other restaurant because we’re always dreaming of the ones here.     Good location, easy to find parking. Cleanly updated design. Food and service were great. Ran out of a couple items on the limited menu but was not disappointed with the other options. Wine list was decent. My only gripe is the music was so loud I couldn’t hear or talk to my date. Kind of an awkward situation. I will try again for sure, hopefully in a different seating.

    We had a party of seven and were sat in this lovely decorated back room it was perfect. We ordered all the plates and continued ordering those that we enjoyed. The carrots were fabulous, the salad, mushrooms and potato fabulous. The cod was least favorite, it didn’t wow us and was very pricey. We also loved our waiter. He was funny and had wonderful suggestions for when we left the restaurant. Highly recommend!

    Nous avons pris l’ardoise au complet, un peu trop pour deux mais tout était excellent, le chef à fait preuve de beaucoup d’imagination dans la composition de ses recettes, avec beaucoup de succès.     Our third time at Magnus but first time at the bar - where the service and the conversation was so fun! We enjoy their cocktails and came in specifically for a pulled pork sandwich we had seen on IG. A special God wink as we got the last two orders of this wonderful dish!     The surroundings are lovely with a tastefully renovated interior and a beautiful granite garden outside (too cold and wet so not yet open). The historic mill across the way is beautiful and the river flows by a short block away. Our table was a banquette, so very comfortable and easy to talk. The menu is limited, which is a plus in my book, and everything was fresh, carefully thought out, innovative and presented with attention to detail. Delicious wines that you don't see on most wine lists, the server was well acquainted with them, and gave us good recommendations.

    This place was a terrific new find in Biddeford which is coming up quickly in terms of its food & beverage scene compared with Greater Portland. We loved everything we encountered at Magnus on the water with these small exceptions: The entrance door does not face the road and the signage on the doors that do face the road is indiscernible from the car. Google Maps knew we were at the right place, so after parking directly in front, we could easily see the signage on the doors while we were on foot, directing us to the entrance door around the corner. Secondly, while small menus are all the rage these days and I personally prefer 2 pages or less, this menu is a bit too small for our preference. Only 2 entrees, btw NOT referred to as entrees or main dishes, distinguishable only by price compared with the other menu items, is simply not enough choice for my preference. I'm a carnivore and managed just fine with my 2 dining companions to 'share' all the shareable dishes. The window booth seating was perfect for sharing all the many plates we ordered. The food is not only delicious but eye candy as well for those who appreciate the appearance of their food in addition to the flavor. We were all stuffed by the end of the meal and no scraps went back to the kitchen. Our host and server was delightful. Friendly and willing to chat, stopping by as if on cue when needed, and not lingering when not needed. Perfectly balanced service. The deliveries to the table were timely and in very good order. The wine was an excellent match with the food choices, not easy to achieve with a substantial wine menu which they have. The 'mocktail' was right in line for a 'foodie' celebrating an 18th birthday. I will most definitely recommend this gem to everyone that will listen and look forward to our return in warmer weather to experience the extensive outdoor dining space carved from the hillside above. Magnus on the water wins with this reviewer. Many thanks.

    This was our first (but not last) time at Magnus on the Water. The drinks were outstanding. Service was fantastic. We had appetizers, both were delicious. We look forward to returning when the patio opens this summer.

    The staff was truly lovely- and my husband really enjoyed the cocktails. Most plates are quite small. One scallop came with the scallop dish. That was a little surprising to me. I would recommend this spot for a great drink and ambiance.

    This is the absolute must-go destination in a town that is exploding with amazing options. The best drinks you will ever drink, period, hands down. And the menu offers variety of which everything is amazing. You will find yourself shocked at how good items like carrots or beets can be, and the goat burger cannot be missed.     We love Magnus and have gone regularly for family and friends' events, birthdays, gatherings, etc. We prefer the outdoor season when we can dine on their beautiful terrace and where the noise level is low. The latest visit was for my wife's birthday - mid-week - and there was surprisingly early crowd. Typically, noise level in such circumstances creates hearing and conversing challenges for us, but the crowd buzz created a wonderful ambience where a great mix of people were animated and obviously enjoying themselves and the surrounding vibe. As usual, our meals were creative and delicious, the wine selections superb, and the service was top notch. It is truly a neighborhood gathering place and a community gem.

    While this is a beautiful spot and the service is excellent, the menu is small, portions are very small, cost is high and flavors are nothing to write home about sorry to say. The drinks are excellent. I think I would recommend this more as a cool spot to meet for a drink and and app then get a full dinner elsewhere. We left hungry. In the warmer months, their outdoor space is great and has nice views of the Saco River.
