Daniel Boulud's menu is driven by the seasons and bounty of Québec's local purveyors. The result: refined yet soulful contemporary French food, prepared here by Executive Chef Riccardo Bertolino.
While situated in the Ritz-Carlton Montreal, the restaurant, its bar & lounge and two private dining rooms have a vibrant identity all their own. Maison Boulud enjoys a view over the historic hotel garden and year round glass enclosed winter garden. Daniel Boulud's welcoming spirit, the casually elegant tone and glimpses of a partly open kitchen keep the focus on the cuisine, making this a daily gathering place for wonderful food.

Excellent service and dishes (very happy with the cod, swordfish, and tuna tartare). Also great for special occasions!
My friends and I went for a special ending to our trip to Montreal. We were seated outside; since the temperature had dropped, they had installed plastic "walls" and put on some of the heaters, so it was plenty warm. We enjoyed looking at the garden and seeing the big ducks. Very good service. As to food: They brought out little puff pastries that were exceptional. The oysters, ceviche, and steaks were great. The focaccia was really, really good. The corn veloute was ok, but I would probably not get it again. Although we were all full, we split a chocolate cake, which was really tasty. Then they brought out a tray of small bon bons, which we forced ourselves to eat even though we were full, and they were awesome. We also enjoyed our cocktails and wine. We are really glad we went and will definitely go again the next time we are in Montreal.
I have dined out a lot, and in a lot of different cities.
Maison Boulud is on of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable.
We sat at a table on the edge of the garden which is an experience like none other.
It is really hard to describe just how amazing this experience was.
I would highly recommended this to anyone looking for excellent food, service and ambiance.
There were not enough stars. We had a wonderful evening - great food, atmosphere and like Bouloud restaurants, not pretentious. Loved it
Excellent service from Johann our server. Very patient and accommodating.
Marie-Christine is one of the best waitresses I’ve had. She made the experience much better than I expected service could be. This alone is the reason why I will return.
The food was good. The stone crab and sea urchin appetizer was fresh and well balanced although the sauce that remained was a little bit too sweet - almost like an orange jelly spread.
The 60-day aged beef chop did not have the intensity of flavour you would expect from something aged for that long. The marbling was not the best as there were pockets of fat that were inedible (unless you like chewing on fat). We also received the beef rare instead of medium rare so there could be some improvements there. The wild mushrooms and cumin carrot sides were excellent.
There will be a second visit as the restaurant has a lot to offer. Seafood is probably a better choice. More to try for next time.
I don’t often give 5 stars, but Maison Boulud has consistently been the exception. Exceptional service (Antonin is literally the best waiter I’ve ever met, you’ll be hard pressed to find someone better), outstanding food, and the ambiance is perfect. I understand it’s not an every day outing for most people, but if you can do it, it is well worth the money.
Amazing food. Great and original wine pairings recommended by the sommelier. Great service.
Great as always! Back soon.
Having grown up with traditional Mediterranean food that mom would cook, eating at Maison Boloud was about the same experience, with a little twist or touch as they say. The service was very good and ambiance friendly. I found they filled their specialty cocktail drinks with ice(not necessary as one or two ice cube would do the job), giving you very little liquid for the money you pay. The fried artichokes entree dish was small as compared to what you would get in a good restaurant in Spain; not as tasty, and overpriced for what you got. The desserts were original and very good.
Amazing culinary experience and the service was just perfect! Julien is a great member of the Maison Boulud team.
As part of a weekend of dining at some of the finest restaurants in Montreal, including Toque and Europea, we visited Maison Boulud. We had eaten at Daniel in New York City, and thought it was outstanding, so we had high expectations for Maison Boulud in Montreal. We were disappointed. The two meals we had did not live up to the hype -- there seemed to be minimal creativity or originality, no spark or inventiveness in the kitchen , sauces were routine, the food preparation and presentation ordinary, except for the excellent desserts -- the pastry chef gets 5 stars. The sommelier was also helpful. The service overall was good, despite a long delay between the appetizers and the main courses, which our server explained was caused by a "back up" in the kitchen. To be blunt: the sense we had was that this is a restaurant trading on its founder's good name, but lulled into near-mediocrity by the reliable flow of customers provided by the Ritz Carlton.
Amazing ambiance, very peaceful, amazing cuisine! Juste exquis!
We loved this restaurant last summer. This year, we still loved the creativity of the appetizers: the smoked salmon and tuna tartare were amazing and beautifully presented. However, the main courses the frittata, the rigatoni and the croissant sandwich were mundane. The desserts were also fine. We did not try the one that used red cabbage although it sounded very interesting. The service and ambiance were impeccable as usual.
The service, the food, the setting, all were impeccable. My favourite place in Montreal!
great Service! Excellent food. Lovely decor the corn chowder soup was excellent.
Everything was very good but way over priced. At that price level the food should have knocked our socks off but didn’t. My wife said the steaks at capital grille are better at a lower price. Lee cafe de Paris which it replaced was better and cheaper.
Always a pleasure to dine at Maison Boulud, great food , service , ambiance and extra attention to the details
Beautifully plated, delicious plates. Great service. Lovely, comfortable space.
Nous sommes allés pour célébrer un anniversaire et ce restaurant en valait la peine. Nourriture excellente, service hors-pair et surtout pas hautain, sommelier à notre écoute, bref une expérience hits du commun! Pour portefeuilles avertis....$$
We had the tasting menu. Service was impeccable, food was superb. Everything done in perfection. Excellent experience. Would definitely recommend.
Great service food was good
Truly extraordinary food -- we're old enough to know. Ambience wonderful. Charming patio with quiet ducks and their pond, waterfall and bridge. No children were present at out dinner, don't know if this is a rule. We were walking on air for maybe a half hour after we left.
Food was fabulous, especially the lobster gnocchi which was out of this world. Service impeccable and setting lovely as we sat out on the terrace. The only negatives would be the cost of the wine which was out of proportion with what you would pay for wine in comparable restaurants. We also found that the time spent waiting between courses was a bit long. Other than that, a great place for special occasion dinners.
Loved the food selection. Reservation through OpenTable was easy, and I managed to change the time easily. Tables can be spaced a bit more to allow for privacy in conversations. We hope reservations can have options for table or seating choices. Had a great time with my daughter on my last evening,
Everything was perfect!
Outstanding!!! The food, service and atmosphere are wonderful!!! The lobster gnocchi and gazpacho as well as the John Dory were exceptional as were the chocolate coulat and cheese plate! Our server was exceptional as well. Look forward to our next meal at Maison Boulad!
Amazing experience, amazing customer service, fantastic food
There were a couple of large parties and although the general restaurant was fairly empty, we waited long periods between courses.
It was... fine. I was looking for a spectacular fine-dining experience after saving up my money, and besides the food tasting amazing, I was disappointed. I'd recommend Maison Boulud to wealthy people looking to burn money.
Amazing service paired with amazing food! Will be back for sure. Thank you for also always serving me by using my name. A nice special touch.
Wonderful restaurant, expensive but worth an occasional visit for indulgence. If you're not a big eater in breakfast the buffet will be overpriced for you.
Brunch jazz excelente. Brunch Menu recomendable. Restaurante de categoria. Ambiente elegante. Servicio discreto y eficiente.
Maison Boulud is one of the best restaurants in Montreal. We went for my sister’s birthday and we were treated very well. The burrata is wonderful and the Iberian ham is something to experience. Expect top service from professional waiters and incredible food.
Excellent restaurant. But: In comparison with Boulud restaurants in New York and Boston, and with other restaurants in the same class, the food seemed less extraordinary. As examples, my duck dish was excellent, but not as good as the duck I had two weeks earlier at The Pines in Hanover NH. My wife reports that her gazpacho was good but nothing special. The dessert was good but nowhere near the excellence of the givree in NY (the best dessert in the world!).
Everything else about the restaurant was truly excellent. Servers were extremely helpful but not overbearing. We had four different glasses of wine, and the server helped us choose each one.
refined and yet not over the top cuisine with great flavours...our go-to restaurant for years when visiting Montréal .
Great ambiance and view overlooking the garden is spoiled by the poor service, limited menu, and average food quality.
